winter in the midwest is snow and ice and cups of hot chocolate and hot tea with brandy (maybe) and honey from the local honey growers. my street is tree lined and when the trees are covered in snow, you may think your in a rockwell painting cityscape. winter is new gloves and boots and knit hats you keep losing and and shivers and lying under the quilts me make sitting by a fire. since i moved and had to give up my fireplace, i bought an electric one complete with heat and light effects but how can i justify using it with 60+ degree temps outside.
winter is taking my feline boys outside for romp in the snow and stepping outside during a snow "listening" to the snowflakes fall. winter is using the automatic key start that i have on my vehicle to heat it up before i get into it. winter is looking at all of the other snow covered vehicles as i pull outta my garage car snow free. winter is eating all of the foods you wouldnt normally eat so that your body can burn up the calories to keep you warm. winter is turning on your heated mattress pad or blanket to jump into a warm bed while you turn the heat down at night.
cant you see 60+ degree temperatures in the supposedly winter months is not winter at all. if the temps dont get cold enough, then the allergens in the air now are free to stay and me and my allergy suffering cat will just stay miserable, he with his running nose and sneezes and me so congested i can barely breath. i need a good midwest winter.

oh havplenty just the thoughts of all the things you are saying is making me SCREAM FOR SUMMER haha...we have been in the Dallas area for five years and I still can't stand the weather here. After 22 years in south Florida, give me the warmth!! It's nice to go to Colorado or Utah to go skiing for a week but that is it!!! Lived the first 20 some years in the northeast but once you've been in Florida that long....forget about it!! Even 60's aren't that great!

My SP's package will go out Monday, and yes I will send a PM to Lori. She loves the color purple and likes tea. That's all for now, have to work tomorrow. Pleasant weather down here, in the 70's and I prefer it that way. Havplenty nice quilt! Lori great job on the bag!

Havplenty
I am on the final step of borders. Will post pics as soon as they are both done. DD is just beginnning to longarm, did a good job on her first one. She says I have to longarm mine, but I don't like to do it. She if forcing me, I am going to practice first and if it looks awful then I will quilt it on my sewing machine.

It is with a very sad heart that I write to ask my quilting friends to pray for my family. My oldest daughter Tabitha and her husband George suffered a tragic loss on New Years evening. Their youngest daughter Emma, 7 months old passed away in her sleep. At this time all indications are that it was SIDS. I will be around, but may not post much for a little while, but I will be around and I will send my SP's package by the dead line. I do not know if I will be able to include anything homemade as of yet.
