peaceandjoy, welcome to the swap! What was the 9patch quilt like that you saw that you liked? Can you share a picture of it? We've had several setting ideas shown during the last 9patch swap, and I think there are some more on this thread also. It would be handy if someone made an album of all the ideas! Did anyone do that? :-)

Cheesehead, Don't look for an updated picture of my top tomorrow. I think it will probably be on the weekend before I post it. I'll try. I haven't finished sewing on the border strips yet.

Welcome, peaceandjoy! It's great to have some new people joining us. We have 9 newbies this time! Yay! You are going to have so much fun.

Givio, your columns are together! That's awesome. You can do the QAYG. It will be a manageable size for your machine. If you don't feel confident at the beginning, you should by the end. It only takes practice. One thing I learned from Angela Walters is: People won't notice mistakes in your quilting, but they will notice areas left unquilted. So I try to get some texture all over the quilts, tho I don't quilt as tiny as she does. She's right, tho.

I can't wait to put mine together. No fancy settings for me... I will just sew the blocks directly together and enjoy the color chaos. I will try to alternate my darks and lights as much as possible. That should create some good movement through the quilt.

One more day to sign up!

Good job for doing the grab bag method and not trying to match to anything. It turned out so nice with that light blue linen and white combo. I think I will need to get that ruler. Joanne’s is having a 40% sale right now on all rulers. I will definitely want to make one of these. I am also working on a design I came up with in my head. I hope it will work out.

Whigrose: welcome I bet you get more than you you will done it's kind of crazy how fast they come together.

I just finished the top I made from the last 9 patch round. I give full credit to SBG as it was her pattern I copied and it's her swap that made it possible. I have a very difficult time with scrappy that I am desperately trying to overcome because I truly like what others make. To help get past that I tried something new for me. Aside from a few center blocks every other 9 patch was a grab and sew it in without looking at the ones that would be around it. I swear that almost gave me a panic attack but I just kept going. It was easier because I knew this quilt would be one I keep. Overall I'm pleased with it. Now pay no attention to the mess on the sides of the bed and get on your galloping horses because there are some issues in there that I should have fixed but chose not to.

happylab, I recently finished a top with the three-piece V blocks using Deb Tucker's V-block ruler. Easy peeszy. Accurate every time.

Thank you ladies.

SBG it may have not been your pattern but it was your quilt I saw that inspired me. IY's also good to know that I am not the only one that had issues with those 12 radiating blocks. I'm going to back it with that blue and I have no idea about quilting yet.

Givo I bet your quilt is amazing I'm excited to see it.

Cheese choosing companion fabrics was a struggle I was only going to use what I have. Originally wanted gray but it just kept muddying the waters, I just kept pulling out fabric I had enough of and was surprised when it worked.

Terri: Try it I'm going to try it again this round when I try using this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-uR6pp9kRM from MSQC I have a creamy tan neutral batik picked out to go with it.

Thanks for that link, Billi... Really cute quilt by MSQC! Basically, it's an Irish Chain set sideways... Another pattern for color and white 9Ps.

I'm strongly leaning towards 5 scrappy color/ 4 whites 9 patches for next time. There are so many patterns for those! And... we could use up single 2.5" squares if we want to. I have a whole collection of them.

I'm liking the scrappy and white patches idea very much. I have a lot of scraps to small to make many consistent blocks with.

To be clear, we are not swapping 'sets' as stated above, but a group of ten blocks per bag. The set (5/4 & 4/5) is acceptable in a bag, do I have it? I got tossed around a bit by the "swapping sets of 10 blocks per bag," followed by "Bags must contain 10 completely different blocks "

Don't want to bag these babies up and send them off only to find out I goofed.deb~

deb, in this swap one “set” is ten completely different blocks (all different fabrics). I apologize for the confusing language.
