Paper Pieced Kaleidoscope block swap
#21
Based on the number of people who have replied and expressed some interest, we have 8 people ((provided all participate)).
Here's the problem we potentially face: if we, for example, decided on 4 sets (total of 32 blocks) and some people mail in 32 blocks and some people mail in 8 blocks, the swap would be very uneven; some people would get several blocks from the same swapper and possibly get some of their own blocks back. I don't think anyone wants that.
I would like to suggest a possible solution: if we all agree to the same number of sets - maybe 3 or 4 sets - then the swapping would work out much better and I think we would all be much happier.
RE: mailing/postage - I'm perfectly fine with swappers using whatever method of mailing & postage is most cost-effective for them as long as you make sure to take care of your return postage.
Thoughts??

Since the blocks are not due till November 30, I'll be able to do more sets. Once I had all my triangles cut out to use, it went pretty fast. I really like this pattern, so I'll do 4 sets and wait to see what others say.

I would really like to take part but dont know if I will have time to do 32 blocks (leaving for Hawaii on honeymoon Friday)
I really dont want to commit until a decision has been made about the papers.

Ganny - your quilt blocks are wonderful!!
Have4Boys - great to see you & glad to have you in the swap!
Uk'n'usa - Congrats!!! I certainly understand. Jump in when you can.
After reading everyone's valuable input and in the spirit of trying to be as inclusive as possible, this is what I suggest:
All swappers are to make 3 sets (24 blocks - 12 light/dark and 12 dark/light)
Each swapper can decide paper on/paper off - either one is fine
Each swapper can use whatever mailing method is most cost-effective AS LONG AS you make sure to pay for return postage.
How does that sound?

I really don't see the issue here. Can we not manage sewing a 6 inch seam without stretching it? Just don't pull on it!
Here is a tute on the method I have just described... give it a try and see if you don't like it.

Have4boys - I found a paper called Vellum available at the big box stores (Staples, Office Depot, Amazon, etc.) Works well. I also use regular printer paper.
I have a few finished and will be working on more this weekend too.
