yeah--quilting is done--tomorrow will get binding done. Have to think up a name forthis quilt to put on label. Then on to other deadlines to complete.

roseirish48 05-25-2014 10:27 AM

binding done--adding label. decided to call it "Illustrated Illusions" as all blocks are taken from either magazine paterns, internet patterns, coloring pages, and my own fertile mind. Illustrations of vases, baskets, and flowers done in shadow applique so very illusionary. Hope Mumukate loves my interpretation of baskets on point in dusty rose and pale green.

I also have the top done..I think it's going off to a quilter. I haven't been in my sewing room for quite awhile. Shingles finally seem to be in a remission of sorts, I still have to put a lidocaine patch on every few days tho. Then I was out of state for wedding my purse was stolen. I picked up a viral bug there but couldn't go see anyone without I d or insurance card, or most important..money. Ended up driving home sick and ended up so dehydrated I was in the hospital for a day getting I v's. it's been fun... Hopefully I can spend the next couple days sewing and catching up before I go back to work. And please don't forget the reason for this holiday. We owe it to the men and women in service! Past and present!

Another of the walking wounded here. Asian flu bit early this month and can't seem to shake it. The planning never seems to slow but this time at least the execution is more than I can do. Soon though!

Nexxus821, nice sneak peak. I like it (alot).... Have to get working on yours again.

TheMamaHauser 05-26-2014 05:27 PM

I have 3 of the 4 border sides put on the quilt. After much discussion, several fights, and a few rounds of "are you kidding me? Are you blind?" fights, my family declared what I was doing far too girly for our manly Rodney. I have totally revamped the plan and I have heard that it's a pretty epic man quilt. To post a new tease or not....

ArizonaKAT 05-29-2014 06:54 AM

Well, I spent the entire day yesterday finishing up the tiny 7" blocks for MDQuilter. Then I started to put it together and realized I screwed up and didn't have enough blocks yet. I'm back to sewing more blocks.

Elisabrat 05-31-2014 04:57 AM

oh dear Kelly POST A TEASE WHY don't you??? lol we are dying to see the new and improved quilt project. all manly and such it should be grand. Robert tell her too!!!

I have my quilt at the quilters right now (aka themamahauser) and I am excited to see it when its done. I know that my partner will love it (hope hope lol) .. now I will just wait. patiently because everyone knows I do that so well. ok I do forgetting real well not so sure about the patience part.

Annaquilts 05-31-2014 07:30 AM

Sounds really good! Can't wait to see it. It can be hard making a truly manly quilt.

I love it! The border especially intrigues me. I have never seen one like that. Beautiful! Great grey tone on tone fabric too. Any quilting plans yet for all those open black spaces?

I don't know yet. I think the whole "manly" thing means no feathers. Feathers aren't manly. I've got a few designs in the back of my head but no decisions yet.

Annaquilts 06-01-2014 01:57 PM

I tend to think that too but my guys love feathers.

I some times do this sea shell look with pebbles.

love your quilt Kelly. She is quilting mine for you Tam Moo so you can sleep safely. Kelly is very good at this stuff! I am waiting to get it back so I can bind and send it on my way to you .. we can mail as soon as we are ready or do we have to wait for the end to mail? I always forget that stuff. sigh.

TheMamaHauser 06-04-2014 09:16 AM

You need to PM Cindy (Yosa) when you're ready to mail - I think she gives you the go-ahead to send it out.

roseirish48 06-08-2014 09:50 AM

just sitting here waiting for Yosamitesa to tell me when to mail out "Illustrated Illusioms" to Mumukate. Meanwhile been working on my Yin/Yang quilt.

Elisabrat 06-10-2014 04:40 AM

will do almost forgot about that part. ok did forget about that part. Sorry Cindy! soon as I get it back, finish the binding then I will write you first before mailing. phew. now its in the brain twice should work. its a theory only.

this was a fun and happy quilt to make. I love the one I received last year from twinrivers she did the most amazing quilt for me with Robert Kauffman metallic falls.. I love it and use it daily. I know whatever I receive this year from Tam Moo will be a treat also to be enjoyed often. :)

I am convinced that the only quilts I will ever have are the ones others are making for me. I always make for others. its a true treat to receive one here. all for ME!

OK, I'm back, at least part way. Have Lyme Disease (spread by ticks)
and am on a regimen of antibiotics etc. to try and get rid of it and the inflammatory arthritis that came with it . sigh. I am ready to applique Anna's quilt plus. I worked on some of the pieces and had to hide it from guild members who were trying to steal. Imagine that, an 88 year old master quilter trying to steal Anna's quilt! Next she'll be on my door step "for help". I'll get a photo for sure to post when I reveal Anna's so you can see two instead of just one, or maybe three. My gd and I will be painting skies today and then to choose the color of the dress. Fun.

TwinRiverFarm 06-11-2014 05:06 AM

Applique, I hope you will be feeling better soon, take good care of yourself. Elizabrat , I have the quilt you made for me on the bed in my sewing room (hey, you never know when the nap urge may strike, plus it is a good place for the cats to nap, too) and I agree with you, these quilts are very special. I hope KGoodhand will love hers when she gets it.

TheMamaHauser 06-11-2014 07:08 PM

I went through that back in 2012 - got bit by something at a campsite and ended up at the doc-in-a-box since we were on vacation in NC (we live in MT). The doctor took one look at the bullseye on my arm and I ended up on a 45 day regimen of keflex.

Make sure you keep to the antibiotics - if you don't kill it now, you'll end up with a lifetime of misery from it.

I am so sorry to hear about your lymes disease. Both my sister and nephew got it. He was over it for the most part in 30 days she ended up having a nurse come to her home to give her IV treatments daily for 2 months. It took many months to get rid of. I have a ton of deer who enjoy the front yard. I am so scared to go onto the lawn no thank you! so lovely as they are do NOT get close to deer or their habitat where something they love to rub against might hold the ticks that can seriously cause you such hardship. I will pray that you heal quickly. Its a tough thing indeed. AND STEALING IDEAS HERE? OMG WHAT A NEW CONCEPT (lol). I think its .. ok. its a compliment to other quilters that you loved their work so much you wanted to do it too.

Yosamitesa 06-12-2014 09:23 AM

OH NO!!! Tis the summer for all of those creepy crawly bugs to come back out and reek havoc on our lives. I hope you get feeling better!!!

Glad to see the chatter. :) Please don't mail until I have confirmation from both partners that y'all are finished. :)

I plan to beat this bug to a pulp one way or another and when I walk the dog I will have a tick collar around the bottom of my long pants. They are in trouble now!
My partner is going to be sending me the last part of her quilt and it will only take me about a week to finish the assembly. Meanwhile the 88 year old quilter is getting her pieces together so she can make one too! Then we can have a real show and tell here including my original which two of my sisters provided pieces for. One of my sisters has passed so it is a very special quilt for me.

MDQuilter 06-13-2014 09:02 AM

Working hard on ArizonaKat's quilt this weekend. Hope to start quilting on Monday

ArizonaKAT 06-13-2014 09:41 AM

Hello, MDQuilter!

My daughter is coming to visit today for a week. First thing we do is finish your blocks. She can iron while I sew. Only have 15 tiny logs to finish and then we can put it together. With the both of us sewing and ironing, will have the top done by the weekend also. So looks like the two of us are right on schedule.

lovngrandma 06-13-2014 04:32 PM

my quilt for my partner has been done and is sitting waiting to be mailed out, will post pics later dont want to spoil the surprise, crazy colors is what mine is called , a mixture of all kinds and different blocks colors and all togather, not exactly scrappy but a beautiful quilt i think , lol

Praying you will get over this Lyme disease soon. Sounds like good prevention to put on tick collars over your pant legs.

You have me super curious and I can barely wait to see it all together. :D What I was supposed to send you went into the mail today. Anyone else getting curious about what applique is quilting?

lovngrandma 06-16-2014 04:39 AM

yosimita let me know when to mail..... postage will b on it thursday,,,,,,,

Elisabrat 06-16-2014 05:34 AM

Waiting for my quilt patiently, just have to bind it and fix one small problem and its golden. always something I didn't see a tiny hole in the fabric when I sewed it on and now I will redo that issue and its over :) then I will get permission to mail. I am slower than molasses these days! I did four blocks for another quilt yesterday and was done in! yikes! not sure if it was the kidneys or the company that did me in. I wanted so bad to take a nap yesterday it wasn't funny! getting old at 52. Yikes!

ArizonaKAT 06-16-2014 08:39 AM

KATS Kid is here visiting her mother (me). She ironed while I sewed. We got the last 15 tiny log blocks finished and I'm 2/3 of the way finished with putting the top together. YAHHHHHH!

Yosamitesa 06-17-2014 06:08 AM

I need to get updates!!!! It is past the 15th. Please send in an update if you haven't already. If you have, you are good. :)

Am so sorry I forgot to send my update :) I PM'd you with what we (my partner and I planned) My mom is coming up this weekend and my partner has a few life things going on now. :) so we are gonna wait just a little bit to ship :) I havent posted photos of her quilt, cause I want it to be a total surprise ;) But here is the little piece. I made it out of the leaders and enders and off cuts from my swap quilt :) I practiced some of my long arming on it. I am sending it along for my partner's fur baby ;) cause she needs a quilt too!

A close up of some of the feathers I did, that is my finger nail there ;) for scale. They were so tiny I couldnt see them around the foot of the machine so did them by feel :)
