QB I also tried to come up with a mouse but just couldn’t figure one out. Great job on yours.

For MacyBaby, no neutrals here! :) Hope this fits into your plan.

Everytime I think of a cat block, someone beats me to it. We all must have great minds because we think alike, a lot! I was thinking the only thing not included yet is a mouse. (Cue the buzzer sound) Queenbarbiej beat me to that one too!

Queenbarbiej 08-24-2019 08:19 PM

I'm glad everyone likes my mouse. I wanted something different since everyone was doing cats.

terriamn 08-25-2019 05:00 AM

GramE love your block for Macybaby, great job using the stripe fabric

Macybaby 08-25-2019 11:01 AM

GramE - very nice block - thanks much!

I really like all the blocks everyone has made for me so far. Not a "won't use" in the bunch.

Mona G, this is my block for you.

I used 14 different oranges in it with your fabric being about half the block. Take a good look and see if this follows your request. A couple of the oranges are light but to my eye, the block reads as orange. My partially colorblind DH agrees but that does not instill great confidence. Lol. Anyway, if you feel I need to change anything, let me know. There’s plenty of time for me to make alterations.

Libster, yours is almost ready!

Kassaundra 08-25-2019 11:58 AM

QB awesome mouse block and love the fussy cutting in it.

Mona G 08-25-2019 12:40 PM

Janice - it is perfect, love all the different shades of orange. Thank you!!

Got one finished today so far, I'm working on another one but probably won't get done in time to post. My husband is usally on the computer from 7-9:30.
Queenbarbie this is for you, hope it will work for your quilt.

Beautiful blocks, ladies! The orange is spectacular.

Whew! That’s a relief! I went though all my 2 1/2 squares to find the best oranges. I kept changing them out until I was satisfied. It was the most fun I’ve had in days. I’m pleased you’re happy, Mona G.

Libster, I just finished yours.

A couple of my outside points are a wee bit close to the edge but I think you can work with them. The blue is quite bright and I hope you’ll be pleased with it.

That’s it for me this weekend. Hope to work on more tomorrow after I update the gallery. Have a nice evening.

Janice, love my block! What a beautiful blue that is. I can't wait to put all my pretties together. This is going to be my second quilt just for me. My Christmas one from last year was my first that I kept just for me. I've given all the rest away to family members. This one I'm going to be selfish with. I'm giving myself permission since I'm an old lady now. lol

jaba 08-25-2019 05:22 PM

Beautiful blocks, these quilts are going to be beautiful!

moonrise 08-25-2019 09:26 PM

Great blocks! I especially love all the ones made for me (I might be a little biased - LOL!). :D

This is a "fly-by check-in" post. The last few days have been hectic, but I'm hoping to work on some more blocks either tonight or tomorrow. :)

Queenbarbiej 08-26-2019 03:20 AM

Mona G the block is wonderful. I haven't seen that block pattern before. What is it called?

What a great little sewing 'nook', Terri. Sweet pup looks like my Penny, gone about 5 years now.

I love Libster's block!

Looks like you have a pretty view outside your sewing area. Nice! Love the green you used I Libster’s block. Your dog’s clone, my Connie, won’t even bother stepping into my sewing area. She’d rather sit in the stairwell, watching for any dogs or people to pass in front of the house. Then she barks up a storm. Lol.

Well, the seamstress and the dog had a disagreement over whose space was in the hallway and the dog won. A 4 point landing that might have earned a 2.0 in the Olympic tripping category. The floor won, my knee lost. An old woman weighs too much to land it all on her knee cap. Sewing has been suspended. Good thing I have hand sewing projects prepared ahead. Hoping tomorrow brings negligible consequences and not a knee the size of Rhode Island. Something is going to hurt tomorrow, hopefully not too many things. I nearly have mjencinitas’s block done. One for Jaba. I now have the fabric to finish Sewbizgirl’s. I have Libster one started. Maybe i’ll Take a couple days off. Anybody know where that bubble pack suit is ?

Happy sewing to the the rest of you. I’m reading a book.

sewbizgirl 08-26-2019 07:56 PM

GramE... jeeze. So sorry you fell. Do you have an ice pack? Put ice on that knee. If no gel pack, you can use a regular bag of frozen peas or something else. It really helps. Ice often.

Can't wait to see your blocks, but yes... take a break!

zozee 08-26-2019 08:29 PM

GramE, ouch! So sorry about your fall. Do ice that knee and take ibuprofen for the swelling and pain . And take slow , deep breaths to help relax your muscles.

First thing hubby did, after he picked me up, was bring the blue ice. He will be changing it for a frozen one before he goes to work. Already maxed out on my daily ibuprofen, but surprisingly I don’t feel bad, yet.

I have this one next to me if I need entertainment in the night. I needed a test block and decided to do it on my fabric.

Libster 08-27-2019 02:04 AM

Ouch, GramE! I was just reading something online about making a home made ice pack with 1 part rubbing alcohol to 3 parts water in a gallon ziplock bag. Keep in the freezer. Supposed to get slushy but not freeze completely so it can be draped over knees or elbows. I'm hoping your knee is normal size this morning and feeling better. Glad the fabric got to you okay.

Queenbarbiej 08-27-2019 03:11 AM

Poor GramE. Take it easy. You have plenty of time for the blocks. I love that block you are making out of your fabric. How are you going to square it off?

GramE 08-27-2019 04:18 AM

Well, that is the reason for the test. I might just put 4 triangles on the corners. But I might appliqué it to a 12 1/2” square.

Somehow, I forgot to tell you thank you for the fabric. It’s swollen this morning, but nothing is painful. It’s that 24 hr mark that usually reveals the full “impact”! We’ll see what it looks like at 9:00pm tonight.

terriamn 08-27-2019 04:29 AM

GramE I am also a big fan of ice packs. Definitely made a difference on the swelling the last 2 times I managed to hurt myself. Hoping you are not hurting to much this morning. Take it easy, enjoy your book and playing with your beautiful block

Janice McC 08-27-2019 04:36 AM

GramE, ouch! I'm sorry to hear of your fall. As has already been said, ice, ice, ice. Libster's right about that homemade icepack. Works like a charm. Enough alcohol it doesn't completely freeze so it molds nicely to knees. The Early Birds blocks aren't due until October. Please take it easy. And gorgeous sample block! Cannot wait to see it finished. Gentle hugs...

It's going to be beautiful, GramE!

sewbizgirl 08-27-2019 06:53 AM

My 'go-to' is a big gel pack I keep in the freezer. It's made by BodyIce... bought it online.

GramE 08-27-2019 04:45 PM

Well, I iced it all night. Today i’ve Used my cane in the house but I went to my cataract follow up appointment without difficulty. I’m feeling blessed tonight because I wouldn’t have expected to feel this good right now. Hallelujah! I even made dinner.

I messed the border up on mjp’s block, gonna have to do it over. I shouldn’t sew when i’m Anxious. The 10” center block that I hand sewed is fine but me and that machine don’t always get along.
