Good morning everyone!

Sorry if I've been absent these past few days. Life has been go-go-go lately! Hubby came down with a nasty flu and was home for a few days. I love him, but I definitely don't get much done when he's home! Then we've been having to fight with our auto insurance and health insurance about his motorcycle accident back in April of this year. No one wants to pick up their phones OR the bills! But everyone wants our money.

But on a happier note, I have been binding up a few quilts I have finished this year. It's always nice to officially finish a quilt!

My goal today is to do a big bedroom swap up for the kids so that we can continue fitting everyone in! Alida has been sleeping in a bassinet in the living room and at 5 months old, it's time she slept in a room with a door that can close. She's too aware of her surroundings to nap with all the chaos around, so she's getting crying exhausted at the end of the day. Poor little Angel!

NZquilter, Alida is a doll. what a blessing, a sweet baby girl. Take good care of yourself too. Hugs, Anna (mom to 14 grown children now)

Annaquilts I made you a variation of the Gingham block for your second block. (Regretfully, I did not embroider any eyes on your scarecrow. I ran out of time!!)

No worries about the eyes, I will do them at the same time I do tails and other eyes. I want to thank you for the adorable gingham block with all those little squares. It reminds me of an antique quilt. I also know how challenging it is to sew all those tiny squares together. Thank you. All the blocks are perfect. I very excited about them coming home soon.

Annaquilts, The gingham square block was made with 2.5" blocks. I got the pattern from one of the vintage farm block books you were hoping to have us do blocks "in the style of". I love playing with those candies (2.5") and now I have something to show on the 25th in the Candy thread :-). I am so happy you picked this theme for us to work on for your blocks. It was great fun and that's what I love about the booms -- stretching my little grey cells.....

Mom to 14!! You are an amazing woman! Good job! I would have loved to have a bunch of kids so instead I teach :-).

Will you be back in MS anytime soon? I can loan you my book. It is loaded with great patterns. Just remember to poke a hole in the corner of each template to mark the corner points on your fabric after it is cut. The templates don't really fit together the way modern templates fit so there is a lot of wonkiness that can happen if you assume they fit properly.

I'm so glad you like that pattern! Thank you for letting me know they got to you safely, Janice! Thank you for posting the picture and the source info for Sewbizgirl, OurWorkbench.

That was a beautiful fabric to work with, Janice. I wanted to make all the stars from that book in this Boom but I started too late on getting the blocks made. Maybe the next time. Sewbizgirl is likely to have them all conquered by the next time I manage to do another Boom. Time to make quilts from prior Booms!

Good morning, Boomers. Well, it’s just below freezing but that didn’t stop Ernie from immediately heading outside upon waking. Atta boy!

I’m going to start sorting out everyone’s blocks today. It’s always a fun day when I get to make up your packages. It’s a last chance to take a look at all your work before it’s sent off. Packages should be in the mail on Tuesday morning.

Hope you all have a pleasant day.

My Tuesday just got slammed so now I'm shooting for a Monday shipping. Will be much easier for me. Some of you might actually get your packages before Thanksgiving. I'm off to make labels.

Thank you Janice for the gallery and running the swap so concisely. Can’t wait to receive my blocks

I am planning on talking to my family about celebrating Christmas at a different time of the year. Then this morning my oldest granddaughter wrote they wouldn’t be home for Christmas this year but wants to come home next year for baby’s first Christmas. So much for my great idea

A little warmer down here today Yeah

OOOH. I thought I was going to have to wait for my blocks as I’m going to San Francisco. It’s my son and his partner’s first time making Thanksgiving for us. And her parents are going to be there too. I met them once for dinner. It will be an interesting four days. We are staying in a hotel for that. Then after that we are headed to Maui to rest for 10 days. After that it’s the deluge of kids and grandkids coming to stay for 15 days at Christmas. Wish me luck! I’m hoping they can all come home.

Since six of them are coming from Nebraska and very happy to get out of the cold, I doubt we could ever convince them to come a different time! Sometimes they come in the summer too.

I can’t wait to see the blocks! Ibex that is an amazing block!

Janice McC 11-22-2024 11:12 AM

Mjp, you’re not going to have to wait long! Blocks are going out tomorrow! Everything went very smoothly this round. Everything is set for an early delivery.

Ibex, Check your email! I want to confirm best address for you.
