Received f8 from cuppy

Sending grownup blocks home tomorrow (if there is a mail service) to:
urgodschild2
twinriversfarm
nanakathy55

You can peek if you want by checking the link with my signature line.:D

I am missing 8 f8 -- I'll list them later in the week in case some are in transit.

Phannie1 02-17-2013 07:08 PM

I got five blocks done and added the binding on a small quilt today. I will be sending 3 blocks home on Tuesday to Scrapper, Cuppy and Joanelizbay. the other two blocks were for my son's quilt that I am working on. Hope all is well this weekend. Phannie

Elisabrat 02-17-2013 07:09 PM

Ok I see lots of blocks are coming in and people are just putting them in their folders but not posting what they received. Not the fabric pieces but the actual finished block. Internet connections are so hard here to get one page to open is a TADA moment so I can see what is coming in. If you only put it in your folder then the odds of everyone sharing in the fun of what was created out of your fabric. It helps give you an idea of hey they are getting these combos and I LIKE that one. some fabrics stump you and all the creative ideas are great. or to say I want to make THAT block .. etc. so if you can please post the finished item blocks you receive back from your swappers that would be great. I use my album for reference .. sent/received not expecting people to go there. I still have no internet so I cant even put pictures in there. this is super slow again. argh.. maybe next weekend.

joanelizbay 02-17-2013 08:08 PM

Elisabrat, I try to post all received blocks on the main screen but then put the ones I send home and the ones I get also in an album that my link takes you too. I tried to access moonworks just now but it took me to a posting in the main page. I LOVE seeing what people receive, just like you said...it gives me inspiration! Id love to see more of the finished quilts from past swaps. Took me awhile to figure out how to put a link to all my albums on my signature line but thanks to Pat, one of the moderators I got it done! :) I understand about slow internet! I go thru our cable company and if its windy outside you can forget staying connected for awhile!

I haven't worked on yours yet so I'm guessing it was MoonRISE that sent it to you.

I know it's confusing with 2 Moon's both named Lisa...what a twist to add to the swap.

We planned it that way, didn't we, just to throw everybody off! ;) hee hee hee (Just playing!) :D

Yep, that's the block I sent, with the mauve and gold flowers and the little 9-patches in the corners (next-to-the-last pic in that post). :)

We get our Internet through At&T and we are at the end of the line. At certain times of day we are lucky to get on.

I love seeing everyones' blocks as they are recieved. I love this swap! Phannie

oldcatlady 02-18-2013 04:59 AM

TheMamHauser, I'm always on the lookout for good white fabric-hard for me to find! I love the white fabric with the swirls you used on Moonrises's block. Do you remember where you got it?

Elisabrat 02-18-2013 08:20 AM

Morning everyone! I had a nice sewing day yesterday once again no internet to upload pics of what I have received so if I havent thanked you here are the blocks I did receive: donna in attelboro? and also Penny in ky. and another pretty one from Jaba! so I did score and one day can share the photos. I think I have nine back now. wow! its going to be so nice to whip these guys together I think a few more and I will start making rows with them that way I can just put my rows together in the end and tada! not going to pick and chose which goes where honestly they all work. black sashing and perfection. You guys are great!

finished yesterday Urgodschild2, roseirish and donna in Attelboro (sorry dont recall your screen name). those will go out tomorrow and maybe one or two more depending on quilting energy today. gorgeous day should equal gorgeous quilt time and energy. yahoooo! oh and those who havent checked out themamahausers website should do so. she has a section for boom quilts a slide show.. way way cool. high five Kelly terrific job on that.

moonwork42029 02-18-2013 09:01 AM

Oh gosh...does anyone else have problems clicking on the link to my thread to see the blocks I've made?

It's an ongoing thread in the pictures section so you can see the comments also...not an album page.

When I did the album, the pictures are so large you can't see the whole block on the screen so I don't do the album any more.

I'll have to "fix" my thread link if others have a problem viewing the blocks so please let me know.

It's actually not white - it's tan or kind of rose-tan? It was some remnants I had from an extra-wide backing I got at my LQS. I am not sure who the manufacturer was, sorry!

finished block for travellinggramma today called True Love's knot--hope you like it--posted in album if you like to peek

Well its not happening. Penny in KY, Donna in Attleboro and Jaba you recently sent me such pretty blocks. Can you post pics if I can not get them sent to Jaba and have her post of the blocks? She will give it a try in the morning but this is beyond ridiculous. its started snowing my text keeps disappearing on me to as it trys to reload the page for random reasons now. argh! I am trying so hard even woke up at 2 to get this to work .. very sad.

joanelizbay 02-19-2013 04:42 AM

Linda, have you checked your computer for a virus? Or cleaned your cache lately? I know my boss never deletes her temp files and her computer really slows down. Our provider at work isnt the best either but it seems to help with the speed a little if we clean out the temp internet files weekly. Im NO computer expert at all and panic when I have a problem like you are having! LOL My wireless seems to run faster than the actual connection sometimes...weird!

cuppy 02-19-2013 06:31 AM

Missing 10 F8ths . Hopefully all will be in mailbox this week. Looking forward to seeing your fabric. cuppy

Just remember the "scant" seam allowances on their patterns or you won't get the proper size when finished.

Thanks and phew I'm glad it worked for you -- this is the link for the one I made for urgodschild2. Dad really liked it.

urgodschild2 02-19-2013 10:18 AM

ok today is the day. Have you all ever got so busy with making blocks and you now have material and scraps sort of everywhere. Then to add in that I knit and those projects are also sitting around in various stages and completions.
Plus trying to finish up some quilts that I am marking for quilting. Needless to say there is a mess and clutter everywhere. My daughter is still living with me and so she has the downstairs as her bedroom. MY sewing machine is down there so you all know what that is like with little scraps here and there when we sew and cut material. Then the other and only place I have right now to work is upstairs in my bedroom where my computer is. Plus a semi large table area that the computer sits on and I can cut out my blocks and keep track of my boom buddies, etc. So today is clean up and straighten up. I get to the point where when I am making several blocks that after a while the clutter starts to stifle my thinking and working. So I probably won't be making blocks today as I am cleaning up.
But I did mail out 4 blocks to their owners and I mentioned them before in an earlier post. Am I the only one who gets this way or do you all get this cluttery too?????

Elisabrat 02-19-2013 11:55 AM

I am probably not so cluttery. When I start a block i pull coordinating fabrics. Finish block, take a pic put block in envelope place where mail goes. Then I put back all fabrics I used. stock the left overs in case someone needs more and the too small garbage or into a scrap bag for someone who loves scraps ie not me. no mess. i work on a dinner table. seats four. sewing machine, cutting area thats it. In the "sewing" room I have a table to audition fabrics and put them away when done an my fabric in its bins or shelf. no sewing in the sewing room the lighting is not great. yarn in yarn bag, crafts on top shelf of bookcase. when I have half finished projects? I move the one in the dining room to a plastic bag or over a chair if its too big and not parts. I have a stack of christmas current blocks on the sewing room table. it cant stay out would drive me bonkers. My house just isnt that big to hold a lot of mess. Ask Traci she will tell you .. :)

urgodschild your block came home to me! can you post I cant post crud. I also cleaned temp files, emptied cache, got rid of old unused programs restarted computer. its not the computer its the signal. there is none. And we do buy for the park X amount of computer bits and bites. I didnt believe you could do that right its like infinite the internet. wrong. here with hughes net you buy amounts. we are a big park with over 200 sites. on busy weekends like this last one we might have 40-50 people (this is off season) and in summer up to 200 people here so one person downloads a movie? gone are the bits til tomorrow. sigh. no member however wants to pay more dues so no more internet. and personally we can not get it here except for aol dial up which is the same speed. not paying for that. got that already :) after tomorrow it should clear up and no snow on the dish and well.. we will get the internet to work. then its yahoo.

hope Jan you sent another block can you post that? and penny? and donna sent that pic to jaba after many attemps one went through to her in regular email. 3 hours. unreal.

moonwork42029 02-19-2013 11:58 AM

Clutter is my middle name  Chaos is my "alternative" name  But we all play nicely together ... well most of the time we do, lol.

I have a "sewing" room but I use the dining room table. We just push stuff over when there's more than 2 or 3 of us eating. I don't like being in the other room (and frankly it's a mess right now) and my Hubby & Dad would rather me be out there with them too.

roseirish48 02-19-2013 12:36 PM

finished block called "Mother's Own' for Roseysue. Rec;d completed block called Pieced Star from Urgodschild2. both re posted in albums on profile page.

I can at least match this. I moved to a smaller two bedroom apartment attached to the back end of an commercial garage (the kind where auto mechanics work) in late December. One bd for me. One for my sewing machines. Garage for my horses, laundry room, etc. My granddaughter and boyfriend came to help me move. They haven't left yet. They are still sleeping in what should be my sewing room and my sewing room is in the industrial garage along with my truck, hay, grain, washing machine dryer, extra furniture and misc. from the other house . . . and the horses are still living outside full time. I can only sew when the weather is warm cause there is no heat in the garage. I tried cutting in the garage and sewing in the house but I spent more time getting up and moving.

Missing the same 8 F8's plus Gaijin from Japan. 11 more here to make, received a F8 from Navarre2011 today.

April, do you keep track of how many Booms we have done? I have pictures of 5,6,7,8 but I also have 30 blue/white blocks that I have no idea what boom they came from! I just laid some of them out on my bed and still have about 20 left over. Any suggestions on a color for sashing on this one would be appreciate too! Dark? Light? Blue? White?

elizabrat.....sometimes I wish that I could be more diligent on not being so cluttery. I try but I do not measure up to it at all. So I have to clean up every so often. Now I love how clean and neat everything looks. I can now look at doing more blocks and how I want to do them. LOL.

Here is Elisabrat's block that I made her. I think it is a little fuzzy.

joanelizbay--I would go with a darker sashing personally, to help each block stand out more. I finally found my mailbox key today and had four grown-up blocks waiting for me. Thanks (pictures in order of names I think): Launavee, Jaba, Moonrise, and Country1

The yellow quilt and the blue quilt are both going to be STUNNING! So far I've just put one of my Boom quilts together, and it still lacks a border. I've been in all the Booms starting with #3, so you can imagine the pile of blocks just sitting here waiting on me! Sometimes I hear them tapping their feet, trying to hurry me up! he he

Phannie1 02-19-2013 06:31 PM

Navarre2001 got your fat8 today. Dahna42, and Goldendog, got your blocks today and they are great and thanks for the extra pices too. I will add to them later. I will post picks tomorrow, I got home late tonight and think I will go to bed. Phannie

Elisabrat 02-19-2013 06:38 PM

Yellow stands out so much that white would be easier than more yellow I think. And the blue white dark blue would really showcase those blocks in my not so humble opinion.

Jaba thank you so much it took me so much time to send those pictures in email had to trick it into reloading and taking the darned things by going back into the internet and resetting it which would move those bars two lines farther up.. all ten of them 3 hours each to get them to upload then one poof just uploads. we have a foot of snow. got 10 inches n three hours and now its gentle snow til midnite. so the fire is lovely the internet not so much. thank you again smooch!

and to the house well i get anxiety if its too messy so I try hard not to get there. not always possible. you should see me when my girl comes home her clothes strewn everywhere, bathroom what counter? and shoes and backpacks and then the sewing room implodes as she brings a lifetime of laundry or 8 loads whatever she can fit into her little car and a boyfriend and omg talk about needing mommas little helpers. I cant hang well with that. My mom was a general in our home. YOU VIL do this. You VIL NOT BE A PIG smack.. so even growing up I always worried she would come by and there might be a mess and she would be shamed by me. hence the anxiety. long story but makes sense now. not judging anyone. i just cant do it.
