travelinggramma 03-09-2013 12:45 PM

I am taking a break - having such fun with your fabric!! Got to make a Grandmothers Fan for someone and now making a dresden block. And in the process I am putting the sashing on the blocks from the fall Boom!
My house may be of dire need of cleaning - but who cares - got no company coming - and I deserve a sewing day!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and happy sewing

moonwork42029 03-09-2013 05:55 PM

joanelizbay 03-10-2013 08:12 AM

Sending home a block to lovingrandma tomorrow. My chart shows three empty spots to send finished blocks home
Mosher92 and Tracibug and girlscouts1. However I show I received a finished block from girlscouts? Is this correct Mikayla? Seems weird to have a finished block but not an F8. Received 19 finished blocks, 17 more to go.

dahna42 03-10-2013 04:55 PM

You received some beautiful blocks Moonrise. It should make a lovely quilt.

Elisabrat 03-11-2013 06:46 AM

Is it just my imagination or are the blocks getting more varied and exciting then ever? I think I am seeing so much variety and new blocks that say make that one make that one! to me. lovely selection ladies absolutely lovely. Abbys blocks Traveling grandma and Old Cat lady can you tell me the names of those? I would love to add them to my Christmas quilt I am making and they are so striking.

I wish everyone a marvelous day. three more blocks heading out of here today maybe four if time allows. Its getting late yet the sun is barely up ontop of the mountain. It hasn't hit here yet. I love to sew in the sunshine.

Lovingrandma that is a beautiful block but I did not make it. This is the one I made for youI'll have to wait until this afternoon to check the mail and post any updates as to blocks back or F8's. Our little PO is only open 1-5p.m. now. Cloudy here today and it looks like rain, but maybe later sunshine I hope.

urgodschild2 03-11-2013 07:20 AM

The blocks are looking so awesome. I agree with Elisabrat.......I want to try some of those too. Well I haven't sewn since last WEdnesday. I feel terrible. I had jury duty for two days, a quilt run on Frid, Helped my quild out on Sat, Church and grocery shopping yesterday and now it is Monday. This morning I am going to a lady's house who is going to show me how to use my embroidery software and maybe I can talk her into helping me to use the darn machine. LOL. But I hope to sew this afternoon. I have to start cranking out those blocks. I have 46/90 done. WHEW! It is so much fun.

travelinggramma 03-11-2013 08:30 AM

Elisabrat - the block I made for Abbys Mom was called "X Marks the Spot" and can be found at Blockcentral.com
I know that this year I have really attempted to do different blocks and trying new techniques.
I wish everyone would post their received blocks on this thread so we could all enjoy - pretty please?

joanelizbay 03-11-2013 12:24 PM

I also would love to see everyones received blocks! It always gives me ideas and thoughts for other blocks. Or post a link to a page of your own that whos the blocks you have made or received? Im loving all the blocks this swap and it does look like people are getting more creative! My son still ahhhhs and ohhhhh at the compass block I received in my black/red/white swap... :) just not brave enough to try it myself yet! :)

roseirish48 03-11-2013 02:59 PM

completed block for Marcialee today--block is called Gretchen--will post in album as soon as i can
received the grown up block I did for Ms Mead back in mail--appears I not only made her a block but changed the name of the street she lives on--will remail soon
still waiting on F8s from tracibug/girlscout1/and mosher92. I have about 9 f8s waiting to be made up into blocks--i manage about one a day most of the time.

mosher92 03-11-2013 02:59 PM

Hello everyone, I have finally caught up with the posts and I see that some may have thought I had disappeared. I have not, I have my F8's wrapped and ready to mail and since I was late getting them out I thought I would just add them to the finished blocks when I returned them, well it might have been a great thought but I have them wrapped to go in one size envelope and the finished blocks in another and they don't play well with each other. I have five more finished blocks to get sewn, fabrics all cut just need to sew. Hopefully I will have most out this week. I do have two fabrics that came without instructions so I am in hopes to get some feedback from you folks in case I may have miss some special post. Babyfire04, her fabric is purple with dots and The Mamahauser, her fabric is a marble type green and brown.

Phannie1 03-11-2013 03:03 PM

I am rearranging my sewing room and guestroom. The sewing room will no longer be 1/2 guestroom now. I did manage to get a block out today for NanaKathy in the mail. Hope to get a few more out this week. Phannie

Busy mail in Possum Trot today.

Mailed out grown up blocks to Phannie & Elizabrat -- Y'all can peek if y'all want to :)

Received 2 great blocks too.

Abby's Mom sent a us a tulip block ... at least that's what Dad says it is

travelinggramma was worried about not using all black...she didn't want to make a black heart. Dad said that was okay since his pirate days of having a black heart were over  He "loved" it too along with your great note.

Got a beautiful block from nanakathy. sending a grown up block home to Scrapper.

Elisabrat 03-11-2013 06:32 PM

I received your fabric lovinggrandma. I also received some pretty blocks today which of course I am going to share with you right now!

The first is from gaijin. Thank you I love it! the second is from Nanakathy beautiful pumpkin patch! and last but not least is from Travelingramma. A very cool block with a nice story to go with it. I did want to mention perhaps all the tape you use on your envelopes is why they are charging you so much? Nanakathy sent her block for .66 cent and yours cost $2.07! If you folded longer flatter and only used scotch tape on the flap I think you could cut the cost of sending way down. That is ridiculous! and yours was in the same type envelope same type inner wrapping (not a baggie which costs a lot more too) .. just wanted to try to help you a bit because that would definetely put a huge dent in my budget.

There is nothing so far for me to put pics so sending and reloading..

I think she also puts tracking on them so that adds additional cost. I don't put tracking on them...guess I've been lucky too.

Did you peek at the block I posted for you Brat on my link?

jaba 03-12-2013 03:34 AM

Nice blocks being received, it's a dry spell here.. Need something to sew

Elisabrat 03-12-2013 04:59 AM

oh dear ... send her your fabric QUICK guys. Jaba is outta blocks to sew. Didnt you do something like 90???? OMG. so glad I decided not to compete with you this year. oh heck no. It has to be hard to be finished and not get any in the mail back those are the long days. When do you need to finish this quilt Jan? I am sure it has a deadline like all your other projects. I say if you havent done mine yet put Jabas before it. It wont bother me at all. I am happy with slow and steady right now as I dont need things done asap. I do hope they call come home before the end of the swap this round if possible. I had two come 30 days late last time. I had given up on those. In fact they couldn't make it in the quilt I had already sent it to be quilted. I will get two more out this afternoon. I keep saying ok only X amount more! then another piece of fabric comes in. I thought I had them all but apparently some are still sending? SEND ok?? Its so muchmore fun to count down 30, 20, 10, 5.. way fun for me like a little high that comes from accomplishing something. It feels good to getter' done. Anyone else get that thrill on the last block?? or am I the only dork here. DONT ANSWER THAT. I will live in the dillussion that there are others just like me. less scary.

jaba 03-12-2013 05:39 AM

Yep just like you Brat, like to getter' done. That's why I don't have anything to sew. Have started squaring up all the blocks and putting sashings on them. Have got all the Indian and Atlantic group done but still holding off on actually sewing it together. I need to put some on the long arm and get them quilted so I can take on vacation next month to have something to do. That binding will get done in no time. Better than twiddling my thumbs. Have about 3 yet that need quilted, 1 large and 2 smaller...like table cloth size from the mystery quilt. Maybe today my mail box will have something in it.

travelinggramma 03-12-2013 06:18 AM

Jaba- you are on my table ,,,,,,your Fabric is on my table! It took me awhile to find the perfect matching fabric to go with it. It sits there and I put a couple of pieces by it - and the next day I say "what were you thinking???" and try again. But I got it now!
Yes, thank you for the tips about the tape. Did I tell you my DH helped!! i sent out a stack yesterday at a different PO. I put in "invitation" size envelopes, didn't let DH help, no heavy tape, and they were only .92 or 1.12 - So I am a happy camper

God bless, prayers coming your way.

Elisabrat 03-13-2013 05:33 PM

No word from Tracibug in a while whoooo whoooo where did you go?
Goldendog heal fast. I think too often we rush back to normal when a bit slower is a better route. So let your body do what it needs and listen those hospitals are oh so not such a picnic.

well finished two more blocks today AZkat and oh heck I forget but will post them tomorrow. Next one up is Judy B's block with three different colored flowers. Found matching fabric so it will be the first I do tomorrow!
