Newest issue of Quilters World

I have posted this in other swaps that I am in.

Just a quick FYI.

I just downloaded my new copy of Quilters World Spring 2014
issue, and I must say that it is PACKED FULL of awesome quilted
projects.

So Far I have added to my "someday I want to make" list 19 out
of the 24 projects featured in the new issue.

I can't wait to get my print copy of the magazine.

Happy New Year!
Just over a week left until we get our names :) Have you given thought as to your favorite things? Have you picked a pattern or 2 to keep in mind? Well, it's time to start all that thinking....

If you haven't yet pm'd me to sign up, now's the time for that too.
I'm looking forward to a great creative swap with all of you!

rbwiese 01-01-2014 12:34 PM

Now that Christmas is over I have some time to get on the computer. Thank you to all of those who said "Hello" to me. It was a nice pick-me-up to read all of the messages. I have a several patterns picked out - waiting to see what my partner likes and doesn't - then to find some cute fabric.

I was in a table runner mood for Christmas presents - but had unexpected eye surgery in late Oct - so that killed any plans for a sewn Christmas. Did manage to finish a knitted shrug for my little granddaughter and still have the fabric for the little dress to wear under it. So time to get my machine out.

Santa brought me an early Christmas present - my oldest son who is living in Bogota Colombia walked in the door a little before midnight on Fri before Christmas - was a really nice surprise. He left here last Oct on his motorcycle on an extended (read several years) trip south! So have been spending free time with him.

Looking forward to the pairing up of partners and getting to the decision making time. I am pretty easy to please for my partner. I never met a fabric I didn't love - from Civil war and 30's repros, to the more modern fabrics. Only thing is - I am very allergic to cats and cigarette smoke.

Nice to meet everyone - from a really nice day here in SE TN - Chattanooga area.

jaba 01-01-2014 07:32 PM

What a great Christmas present! I sure missed both of my boys not being here this year. Hope your eyes are healing and doing better.

rbwiese 01-02-2014 05:16 PM

Our nice day yesterday turned to snow tonight - the deck has probably 1/2" and the grass has dusting. We don't get snow real often, but here in the mountains, it really creates havoc when we do. And I think I am getting sick....so guess I will stay inside and amuse myself somehow....maybe on the computer looking at table runner patterns!!

Eye is doing quite well. It is great to not be in as much pain as I was. Pain is a funny thing. It creeps up on you and can gradually build. You don't realize how much until it is much better. It was surgery #13 on that eye, so I do have nerve damage pain. But it is still a lot better than it was.

jaba 01-02-2014 05:40 PM

So glad your eye is healing and less pain. Think I know that pain tolerance really well with this pinched sciatic nerve. By the end of the day I can certainly feel it, doc wants me to try another spinal, so I go in on the 10th. Just hoping it will work.
Wish I knew my partners favorite things right now so I could get her runner done. Won't be able to get in my sewing room for about a week after this spinal (downstairs) and doc said that was a no-no. Hope she won't have to wait long.

rbwiese 01-02-2014 05:43 PM

Hi - a little more about me quickly -
Colors - I really don't have many I don't like - orange probably is tops on the list. Puke green and yellows, stuff like that - maybe those colors have proper names that sound better. As someone else said, we have a lot of dark wood, so probably not earth tones - maybe I just need spring to arrive!
Flowers - I love irises, pansies, orchids, really most flowers. Can't think of any that would be off limits.
Animals - don't have cats, very allergic to them. Wouldn't quite know how to incorporate them into a table runner. But I bet a quick search would give some ideas. My daughter and her girlfriend have one - but she keeps Abby out of the guest room and I do ok with her. They are such comical animals - they are so entertaining.
We now have miniature schnauzer #5 - have loved them all. They are such inquisitive animals - so am really a dog person.
Hobbies - I knit, crochet, and am learning to quilt. Am smocking and sewing for my little 18 mo old granddaughter - such fun things to do.

I do like to decorate for holidays a little - so something for Valentines or Easter or just Spring colors would be fun.

A few questions - when I receive my exchange - do I post a picture in an album, here, or give a link to the photo? Is there a way to search this thread for messages - such as from my partner so I can learn her (or his) favorite things.
I tried using the search this thread option but it didn't pull up all of the messages for the one member I used. Thanks for helping me out.

tlambing 01-02-2014 05:55 PM

You'll pm your partner for correspondence and such. And YES! post the pictures here, we all love seeing them! Let me know if you need more clarification.

Can't wait for this round to get started!!!

Jaba, I bet you'll be the first to mail even with giving us all a head start:p

jaba 01-02-2014 06:23 PM

Keep the faith for me MS. Lambing, I'll try! rbwiese, we should be partners!!!! Our allergies are the same (cats) and I love flowers, although I can't grow them worth a ----! Would sure love a table runner or table mat in those though, don't care which one, just praying for the summer to get here.
Just have to tell you my good news for me, over New Years bought my self a new SUV. Had a Dodge Durango that was getting a little difficult for me to get into( have a pinched sciatic nerve) so went with a smaller version and got a Ford Edge. I was suppose to get it tomorrow but they delivered it to the house today, my Durango was already sold sight unseen. My dealer was very happy! Now to learn all the computer screen, phone, e-mail, navigation...mercy TomTom's are things of the past and actually holding your cell phone, amazing....but now learning how to run everything in 1 little unit.

DustysMomma 01-04-2014 11:16 AM

Congratulations on your new vehicle! I still feel like mine is new 2 months later, and it's 4 model years old. I'm in agreement that you'll probably be she first one to ship regardless!

Likethedog 01-04-2014 03:08 PM

Jaba's partner could do a table runner with scenes of her new vehicle!

jaba 01-04-2014 06:01 PM

Had hubby go to the post office today, it was snowing and I didn't want to get it dirty. Now how stupid is that, had it for 2 days and haven't even driven it. Likethedog, I can look at it in the garage, stays clean that way :) would rather have a Valentine's Day runner or St. Paddy's Day. Love those holiday ones that I can change out and enjoy.

LAQUITA 01-04-2014 08:10 PM

Ohhh I'm in. I did this in 2012 and enjoyed it. So I've signed up for this one too:!
Here's some info for my SS:

Some of my favorite things are: antique roses, crosses, anything sewing/quilting related.
I LOVE bling! I think I'd like a table runner / mat for one of two places:
(1) our bedroom which is done in antique roses, colors are hunter green, light pink & burgandy
(2) our living room, is done In Burgundy, beige, and hunter greens we have crosses on our walls.

Can't wait to get our names so we chat and get started on our partners 'favorites' .
:)

Likethedog 01-05-2014 09:26 AM

Every time I read someone's list of favorite things, it gives me ideas. I'm excited about getting started!

tlambing 01-06-2014 07:02 AM

Likethedog, you only have to wait til the weekend! Yeah. We will all get our partners then.
I'm really looking forward to the personalization of this swap. Albeit your partners interpretation of your list of favorite things;)

sign ups don't close until Friday. If your on the fence, jump on over and join us! This is gonna be fun!

mom-6 01-06-2014 08:05 PM

Teresa sounds like there will be some truly grand runners coming out of here! and thought Jaba you wanted a valentines one? or how did that thought come to me (lost and confused?) I am getting some things done.. riped two quilts apart which was a picnic and now can resew them correctly. well one of them the other will be sent out to be quilted no way no how doing one that big lol or more seam ripping would occur. I wonder if there is one most favorite thing .. guess time will tell :) good luck guys on all your sewing adventures. I have only 10 official ufo's .. too bad t hey are not table runner sized :)

MizMelly 01-07-2014 10:12 AM

Sigh. My bad. I keep looking at patterns for table toppers that I'd like for myself...... is that wrong? Or am I just wishing I could make one for every month of the year (for myself of course)?! I will restrain myself until I get my partner....

Which patterns appeal to you? Maybe your partner will have (some of) those very same patterns and thus can make one for you!

MizMelly 01-07-2014 03:06 PM

I keep looking at patterns for circular table toppers since I have a round table. I saw some good ones on Annie's website.

ljdugas31 01-07-2014 07:02 PM

signed up and cant wait to get started!! some of my favorite things are flowers.butterflies, birds, mostly anything country.

jaba 01-07-2014 09:32 PM

I do want Valentine's brat or St. Patty's Day, depends what my partner wants to sew for me. Hope all of you put your favorite things on your lists! Would take sewing time to have to go back and look through all these pages of likes:D

tlambing 01-08-2014 11:05 AM

Just 3 days left to sign up. Come on and join us.

When you get your partners name, your gonna need to pm them your list of favorite things, as they will you. If you haven't thought about it yet, start contemplating!
I think I'm gonna need to whittle mine down a bit ;)

Likethedog 01-08-2014 09:08 PM

Can we list as many favorites as our age?

i guess you could try that....but depending on your age, I'm not sure that your partner will have the determination to read through them all! Ha ha But they'd sure have many to choose from.

Likethedog 01-09-2014 05:54 PM

You mean my partner can't spare 4 hours to read through all my favorites???!! Well, maybe I should leave a couple out....

http://thesecretlifeofmrsmeatloaf.bl...&by-date=false

I have never posted links on here - hope it goes through.

Rena

MizMelly 01-10-2014 02:14 PM

I love that blog! All I can say is "wow" at all her wonderful long arm quilting, and the quality of the quilts she gets to work with!! And yes, she's a cat lover!

tlambing 01-10-2014 08:24 PM

It's down to the wire! Just a few more hours til sign ups close.
Come on and join us, it promises to be a good time.

dabbler312 01-11-2014 10:12 AM

Time has come and gone for sign ups so I will just be watching what everyone makes and sends.

A new Ford Edge - I have one on my radar but Brian is more a sedan person - he will get a car first before I get a new ride. Good luck with that sciatica - one of the guys that work with is going through the same thing - he's been in to see the crack man several times now and is realizing small relief.

I'm looking forward to all your creative designs.

jaba 01-11-2014 02:14 PM

I think I'll like the Edge, just need to drive it somemore, was so use to the Durango it felt very comfy. Been doing this back thing for a very long time, pinched and bulged discs, arthritis and now the nerve. Had 3 injections yesterday, not fun actually hurt like he-- and about pee'ed my pants on the operating table. Ice bags today, 15 on, off 1 hour, etc.
Was thinking maybe names, pretty soon, I can certainly wait, not much time until after tomorrow when the ice is done.

Tfch8184 01-12-2014 06:08 AM

I'm jealous Jaba. I want an edge so bad. I have an awd fusion that I love but I want the height of a truck with the feel of my car. Hence the edge lust. Then do found one (he works at a ford dealer) but for all that edges have that I want the resale value plummets and the year we were looking at has issues (2007-2008). I was so heartbroken when I found out its gonna be a dang long while till I upgrade. If our F-150 got better gas mileage I'd drive it all the time but 20mpg versus barely 10 mpg I will stick with my car.

Anyone else stalking their inbox in anticipation lol?!?

MizMelly 01-12-2014 07:06 AM

I am! Sunday morning and laundry day, so I'm sitting on the computer between hanging clothes on the line, warming up my fingers between loads! Still have litter box duty and cleaning floors this AM! But the afternoon belongs to me!!!
Anxiously awaiting.....

jaba 01-12-2014 07:30 AM

I'm checking too, just hope my partner answers me quickly so I can get started. And hoping I can sew something that is her favorites???now that is the question.
Tfch8184, the one I got isn't brand new, it is a 2013 that was a dealer demo. I have bought about 7 cars from him so he treats me really good. With 15,000 miles on it so depreciation already done and thousands cheaper. Hate buying a new new one anymore, the minute you drive it off the lot it's worth $10,000 less at least. Comparing a car it would seem like a truck, I have to get use to the smaller size, compared to my Durango it seems like a car :D. The Durango was sold before it ever got on his lot, sight unseen .....good for my dealer.
Teresa are you up and awake yet???

Quilty-Louise 01-12-2014 07:49 AM

Y'all have me in car envy (again). I soooooo wish I could afford to
get a new (to me) car. I really hate my Hyundai Accent wish a passion!

The car I had before this Accent was a 1997 Chevy Cavalier Z24, LOVED
the horsepower of that car, but the transmission was going out (for the
second time in 10 years) so in 2007 I traded it for the 2005 Accent.

Last year I was in a minor (very minor) accident and my insurance
paid for me to get a rental car while repairs being done. I got a Ford
Fusion and I LOVED that car, 2 years ago someone hit my parked car
and I got a Kia Soul to drive really loved that vehicle. My brother works
for Kia/Hyundai dealership (Elite Certified Mechanic) and he is keeping
an eye out for a good deal for me.

I am also stalking my inbox for my partners name today. I hope that
what I make her/him (in her favorite/s things) will turn out good and
that they will like it.

tlambing 01-12-2014 10:32 AM

Good Morning All!
Yes, shoot me.......I slept in today :)
Partners have gone out to each of you. Please get in contact with each other ASAP. I tried to include any favorite things that were listed to me with sign ups. (hopefully I didn't mess that up)
Many of you stated your favorite things in our thread, but a nice pm with all your favorite things would be great. That way it'll be handy.
I'm really looking forward to sneak peeks and friendly chatter!

Ready....Set....GO!!!!!!

jaba 01-12-2014 10:37 AM
