Man, I really need to finish my other stuff so I can do more chickens. I've only done one set, but I want them
ALL

sew cornie 02-09-2010 01:46 PM

Moosegirl, that is hysterical!! I LOVE it!! I was just thinking that I need to just finish my 3 sets and send them off. Move on to other projects. But everyone keeps posting such fabulous chickens! Somehow I have to figure out what's realistic for me to finish in time. Perhaps if I wasn't on the Board so much checking out everyone else's pictures . . . hmmm . . . could have something there. LOL.

Karen 02-09-2010 03:02 PM

I have one set finished, and 2 more cut and getting sewn....may have 2 do more now!!!! I really want them all too!!!!!!!!!!

sandpat 02-09-2010 04:35 PM

I'm pleading the 5th!!

Moosegirl.. I LOVE your block!!! I've gotta have one of those too!!

Sandpat.. One of my other blocks is going to be 12 x 16.. and since 16 isn't divisible by 3 (although I think it should be), I'll make them 12 x 18. I'll also do up an egg and see what it looks like..if it looks blech, then I'll have to wait for the other chicken pattern I bought.. (yes, I'm a secret chicken buyer) and see how big it says to make it!..

charismah 02-09-2010 10:50 PM

Moosegirl..that block is darling!

sandpat 02-10-2010 05:52 AM

OK Tuesy....you GO! I think you officially deserve to be the Chicken "Queen"!!

moosegirl 02-10-2010 06:37 AM

I'm glad everyone got a chuckle out of the chicken and I hope you noticed the tiny shark in the wave ready for a chicken snack.
Moosegirl

blueribbontoes 02-10-2010 06:43 AM

I have gone chicken crazy. I. must. have. all. chickens.....

susiequilt 02-10-2010 06:52 AM

I have to laugh reading all of these posts about getting one of every block!
Not going to happen, folks!
It seems like there are about 15 people each wanting one of each block when there may be only 6 blocks in each set for most blocks! I don't envy sandpat trying to divide them up!

I'm still on the fence!
Got my farm blocks ready to mail but I must get started on the Feb quilting bee block and boomerang blocks, then if time permits I will start chickens!
:-D :-D :-D :-D

susiequilt 02-10-2010 06:55 AM

Moosegirl: What a great block! You have such a great imagination to think of that!

Sadly you are right! it isn't gonna happen getting one of each....but we can keep on dreamin in funky chickens!!
Sandpat has a hard job ahead dividng those chickens up. I will be happy with what I get and can always make more!

blueribbontoes 02-10-2010 07:41 AM

Susiequilt, oh I know exactly what you mean, but everyone has come up with such fabulous designs that it is fun to try for them all. Lol- the more the merrier!

sew cornie 02-10-2010 10:02 AM

Yes, Susiequilt, I did the math a couple of weeks ago and decided to stop running around like a chicken with my head cut off (ha!) because even if I made enough sets, I still wouldn't get one of each. Although I agree that making 6 in a set is a good number. And of course I will be thrilled with whatever I do receive because they are all so fabulously funky!

The only way you can assure to get one of each is to make however many sets of your own to equal the number of other chickens in the swap. SOunds like that's a lot of chickens.

gramadona 02-10-2010 02:25 PM

OMG!! All of your chickens are wonderful!
Now I wish I had joined this swap....boo hoo.

You still have time to join in the fun!!! You know you want too!!

sandpat 02-10-2010 05:05 PM

Yeah gramadona...there is plenty of time!

I know...all about the large group wanting one of each and I thought about that...we'll see...I'm thinking that I will take put the cats outside and line them all up on the floor in the den, then its enny, meeny, miney, moe..... Or it might be really interesting if I leave the cats inside to help me  I'll get it figured out...you will all get fabulous blocks...how could you not?? They are ALL fabulous!

rednina 02-10-2010 05:28 PM

I would like to join your swap. I have a cute chicken pattern. and LOTS of time to make twelve 12" blocks.

Sounds great nina! I've put you on the list...we're glad you are gonna play! :D

brookemarie19 02-11-2010 04:42 AM

Ok, so I was thinking about making a strip of eggs, but the only problem is that when I try to make the eggs funky.... they kinda look like easter eggs  Would that be ok or should I find something else.

sandpat 02-11-2010 06:00 AM

Heeeheeee....they would kinda look like Easter eggs I guess. What if you make cut a little bit of the top off kind of jagged (like it cracked off) and put a strip of something else between so that it looks like a funky chicken being born??? Maybe the chick would be more funky than the actual egg shell?....just a thought...

Karen 02-11-2010 06:51 AM

Easter eggs!! Brookmarie I made a block that is a chick hatching out so they would kinda go together!! This has been such great fun!

Ducky 02-11-2010 07:13 AM

All of these chickens are just terrific!!! You all have made them look so fun. Keep those pic's coming!

brookemarie19 02-11-2010 08:51 AM

karen, what size was your egg block?

sew cornie 02-11-2010 02:44 PM

Easter eggs are still chickens in my book. Funky eggs like tie-dye or zigzag or spotted or whatever could be a fun addition.

I'm calling uncle and will finish with 3 sets. No "fresh eggs" from me. Sorry guys. There are too many projects waiting in the wings (pun intended) and I really want to do the next Boomerang swap too. Before that starts I must get these other things done. So I'll finish up my 3 sets of chickens and call it good.
