January 2017 to March 2017 Table Runner Swap

Hi Guys,

Welcome to our ongoing Table Runner Swap! This one will run 1st January to the 31st March 2017.
You have until the end of March to make a table runner - the theme this time is Spring.

Size of Table Runner

Thetable runner should be a minimum of 12” x 30”.
You can use any technique/ any style.
All fabrics used should be 100% cotton.
The runner must have wadding and be quilted.

Sign Up list

There is no deadline so you can sign up at any time during the 3 months as this will be just an intention to participate. When you have made and are ready to mail your runner you can then sign up to the “ready to mail” list which is binding commitment.
But please remember that the only list that counts is the Ready to Mail list at the end of March.

Ready to Mail list

An initial Ready to Mail list will be posted around the 26th March 2017.
If you are not on this list you will not get an address to send to unless you contact me and get on the final listing.

MIDNIGHT on the 31st March 2017 – is the deadline to get on the “Ready to Mail” list

I will need:

Real name
Your address
Whether you are willing to send international or not (Please consider this as it enables everybody to take part)
Allergy info
Pet and smoking information
Email address

As long as you have a table runner ready to mail by the deadline you can join us any time!

Addresses Sent Out:

I will send out the name and address of the person you should send to on the 1st or 2nd April 2017. You will have 7 days to get your table runner in the mail - NO LONGER. If you are unable to keep this commitment - please do not sign up.

You will send your table runner to the quilter who's address you get.
You will receive from a different quilter than the one you send to.

This is not a partner swap.

Please note that there are quilters of all abilities on this board and you should appreciate the table runner you receive as your sender will have worked hard to make it for you.

You are welcome to send some goodies in your package if you would care to, but please don't expect anything other than the table runner.

PLEASE NOTE.... You must let me know when you mail and when you receive. Also, please PM the person that sends to you when you receive to say thank you and to let them know that the table runner that they have sent you has arrived - it is only polite to do so!

So come and join our fun.

Hugs

Caroline

I'm in and have already started pulling fabrics. Not sure of the design yet. I love spring and spring themed items.

I would love to join in this time. :)

Patchesnposies 01-04-2017 06:13 AM

After a long time off I am sticking my big toe back into the swap pond! I have already PM'd Caroline and am working on my runner.

I am not receiving updates when someone posts to this thread. Can anyone help me remember how to subscribe to a thread? LOL

Deb

Belfrybat 01-04-2017 08:41 AM

Just above the first post to the right is a tab called "thread tools". Click on that, click on "subscribe" and your choice as to how to get notifications.

Patchesnposies 01-04-2017 08:51 AM

Thanks, Belfrybat!

nonnie60 01-05-2017 09:38 AM

klaws 01-05-2017 06:23 PM

Hey Deb! Glad to see you back. :) How's the family?

lawsonmugs 01-06-2017 01:26 PM

Hi Ladies, I'm gonna try this one. I had a lot of life get in the way of the last one. But I did follow along and seen the very nice runners that were made.

ube quilting 01-07-2017 01:55 PM

I have my pattern and fabric picked out and will be starting it Sunday. I finished my quilt for the mini swap today. I really like what I am going to make. Maybe there is enough fabric for two of them. I am using one of my all time favorite fabrics in this one.
peace

Belfrybat 01-08-2017 07:16 AM

I've cut some of the components, but haven't started sewing yet. The design I'm making is easy peasy but has lots and lots of small pieces, so is time consuming. But no matching seams, so Yea!

m-fay 01-11-2017 06:29 AM

I've got a plan of what I'm going to do but can't start it till I'm back home.....I came south to see roger Federer play tennis, now visiting family and friends.

well I'm close to finishing. I'm working on the binding and then I'm done. Thought I would show a little peek. You can see a clip on the edge of the corner where I haven't sewn it down yet. This went together so quickly. I think the hardest is choosing the fabrics all the time. That takes me forever. lol. Hope to see some more peeks.:sew:

m-fay 01-11-2017 03:38 PM

sunshine and blue skies....that looks like spring lawsonmugs..now what else is in there?

lawsonmugs 01-11-2017 05:12 PM

m-fay gonna have to wait and see....lol.

Northern Sue 01-12-2017 12:56 PM

Got my fabric today - the longest part of the process, I swear! I've seen what I want to do with it, but still searching the pattern! Lots of web hits say free pattern but lead nowhere! Might try to wing it with the help of a You Tube video & hope I get it right! lol But ..... considering you don't know what pattern I'm talking about, you won't know whether I get it right or not, will you? lol lol

lawsonmugs 01-12-2017 01:58 PM

Sue you sound like me. I hate when Pinterest or you tube dead ends with no pattern.

Belfrybat 01-12-2017 07:43 PM

Lawsonmugs -- love the sunny corner of your table runner. Blue and yellow are such a lovely combination.

I finished my table runner this evening. Will take a pic tomorrow and post a peek. I'm happy with the way it turned out -- all kinds of flowers bursting from it.

Here's a teaser pic of the table runner. This is the "Texas side" with two strips of bluebonnets.

Belfrybat, Those fabrics are terrific. I love it.

Northern Sue 01-13-2017 04:32 PM

I like the concept of Pinterest, but I've just never caught on to the buzz! When I see something I'm interested in, you can spend hours, clicking on link after link, and still not end up with what you were originally searching for. Sometimes I think that's why we get so much junk mail sometimes! I'm happy to pay a reasonable price for a pattern or directions, so I'm not always looking for the freebies.
Tonight, I'm resting and trying to get in the right mindset for some FMQ tomorrow; will practice on quilt sandwiches before touching my block, but then I have to bite the bullet! I'm doing the Flower Festival Mystery Quilt with Leah Day, so each month we construct a block, sandwich & quilt it. Whole works will be put together at the end. I'm determined to improve my FMQ and get "out of the ditch"! Wish me luck! lol

m-fay 01-14-2017 06:33 AM

When I first saw this apple blossom fabric (many years ago) it reminded me of my mom who used to sing
"Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" to me all the time. I love this fabric and still have a few scraps left to play with.
Now who is gonna get this one!:D

Northern Sue 01-14-2017 03:59 PM

The Apple Blossom Fabric & runner are beautiful!!!!

marietta 01-14-2017 06:45 PM

Love all the fabrics, especially the "Texas side" :)

m-fay 01-14-2017 11:30 PM

I love that Apple blossom une.green and blue are my favourite colours

lawsonmugs 01-15-2017 08:06 AM

Oh that's a pretty one.

lynnie 01-15-2017 10:36 AM

that's one of the prettiest tablerunners i've seen in a long time.

Belfrybat 01-21-2017 06:41 AM

Ube - love that apple blossom table runner. It shouts out "Spring!!!"

m-fay 01-27-2017 05:58 AM

I've been working away at part 1 of my table runner. Almost ready to move on to the next bit.

Northern Sue 01-29-2017 09:43 AM

I have a question for everyone! To be a "runner" the project is a rectangle of some dimensions. My question is this: are we limited to this definition? Can we make a project that is square, provided it meets the length dimension? eg. a table topper idea?

ube quilting 01-29-2017 01:32 PM

Personally would not mind a table topper, square, round, oblong, hexagon or any other shape you can come up with as long as the size looks good on a standard size dining/ kitchen table.:D

Patchesnposies 01-29-2017 01:45 PM

I second that idea! As long as it was a "center of the table" piece!

Northern Sue 01-29-2017 04:38 PM

Thanks! Do I need "permission" to go rogue? lol I have a pattern I've wanted to try for awhile, just needed a boot in the butt to do it! This could be it! :)

m-fay 01-30-2017 11:53 PM

I didn't think...I was doing mine as a sideboard runner, rather than a table one. what does everyone think. I still have time to do another.
