I LOVE all the lil minis, extra "sweet" they all seem this month...
And the teasers coming in are so fun, too.

Brat,
Um you not being comfortable talking in ANY situation is kinda like me not being comfy talking...riiiight...haha! But I really do understand in front of several people, and people you don't know, it IS kind of intimidating...ok, not kind of, but a lot of! However, I'm sure you did just fine, and I hope y'all all had fun! I love historic homes, hotels, etc..even the purportedly haunted ones.

MizMelly,
Please don't rush to mail my mini. As I am adding some "bling" to yours, and a lil blizzard is blowing in for us tonight, it will probably be Friday when I get into town to mail. So if you want to wait until then, that's great. Just take care of yourself!!

Whigrose 01-12-2015 07:37 PM

Klaws, you fabric snippets are adorable.

Jaunitabean, that's a lovely piece you did for Jaba.

Here is a peek of one of the fabrics I am using in my mini quilt for this month. I took some pics of the partly finished mini itself, but I have it directly under my lights, and it shows up too bright to post. This fabric is prettier in person than what shows on here. I just love this fabric.

My pics colors often don't show up as nice either..

But that fabric is beautiful!!

Kiffie what a beautiful mini you received from MizMelly! That cute little pink monkey is adorable! I've not attempted to paper piece anything yet. Maybe some day.

tesspug 01-15-2015 04:23 PM

MizMelly that paper pieced heart rose is so nice.

Cheesehead 01-15-2015 06:02 PM

JuneBillie 01-15-2015 06:18 PM

Kiffie you got a beautiful mini quilt, and it does have a very pretty back too. I would be tempted to switch it around at times. You also have a cutie of a monkey and other goodies. MizMelly, I love your paper piecing, and want to learn how myself. I understand it in theory, but still working on it. lol..Great work MizMelly.

Kiffie and Cheesehead thanks for the nice compliments.

letsquilt 01-15-2015 06:33 PM

Lucky you Kiffie, that's a beauty!!! Love that rose.

quiltjoey 01-15-2015 07:37 PM

I'm sorry I haven't been on the board for a few days. Back pain and MRI of Right hip which has a torn ligament in the acetabular cup (socket) where the head of the femur (ball) goes. Doc says not an easy fix. He's scheduling a radiologic meds injection of some sort of steroid and also PT to follow. I can't walk far or hardly walk at all. He said hip replacement is probably in the near future. I'm depressed. Back surgery and now, possibly, hip surgery. Pain meds have made me loopy and sleepy… Have PMed address….

JuneBillie 01-15-2015 10:06 PM

I hope you feel better soon quiltjoey. Those type of things are difficult to get over.

Elisabrat 01-16-2015 06:12 AM

junebillie: absolutely love your rose fabric. omg its so pretty!

Kiffie: want your monkey. NOW (grin). mail it immediately to me! what a great package you received and that paper pieced rose is stunning. Your partner did a killer job on that one. One day, maybe one day I will do more than just wish!

I finished my top, need to quilt it today and to add a few .. embellishments? to the top then it can be mailed. better late than never! ok not better late but trying to get so much done in a short time frame. I am afraid I wont be able to sew for a month which worries the heck out of me!

klaws 01-16-2015 07:09 AM

Linda, just take your time. I'm in no hurry to receive it. I know you have a lot on your plate besides finishing my mini. I know I will love whatever you send. <3

JuneBillie 01-16-2015 10:10 AM

Yes Linda take your time. Lots of love in what you are making so it takes time. :)

Linda do you also paper piece? I was curious. Someday we will have to start a learn to paper piece for some of us that would like to learn, that way we could exchange among ourselves, and we would all still be proud of our wonky looking pieces as we go along. :D

tlambing 01-16-2015 10:17 AM

I enjoy Paper piecing! It just "seems" intimidating. I have found that in my quilting group...everyone finds a different way that their brain grasps it. Funny how we are all so different.
Beautiful minis everyone! and remember that we are working ahead now. These minis have a February theme, so your partner will get to enjoy them all month, even if you don't get them shipped out until the mail date! No need to rush yourselves!

S.W.A.K.
Teresa

JuneBillie 01-16-2015 12:28 PM

Teresa have you been paper piecing for a long time?
I have a book on it, and things to use. I just need to keep at it. I have just got busy, and then put it down.

JuneBillie I've only been PPing a couple of years. I did this New York beauty as my first PP project. Talk about jumping in with 2 feet!!!! PPing and curves! I need to get this quilt finished. I am trying so hard to finish up my UFO's.

klaws 01-16-2015 01:12 PM

Wow, Teresa, that was an ambitious project to take on for your first. But it is turning out beautiful! Good work!

JuneBillie 01-16-2015 03:04 PM

Wow Teresa, You were an expert before you even started. lol.. That is beautiful. Do you have any advice for me to get started with the paper piecing?

Cheesehead 01-16-2015 03:08 PM

Teresa, that's a gorgeous New York Beauty! I have that pattern and it's on my list of things "to do"

Jan

tesspug 01-17-2015 11:55 AM

That is a beautiful quilt, Teresa. I love the colors. Cheesehead and I both got our minis in the mail. So now its just the waiting. I am happy we picked a theme ahead. I like having a long time to enjoy the quilts.

Soooooo LetsQuilt was daring and offered to swap a mini with me. I got a super late start but finished the top today. It needs some "extras" but I need to go buy some embroidery floss. Can't find mine!!! Then I'll quilt and bind and mail it!! Here's a peek. :D

JuneBillie 01-17-2015 05:22 PM

SheriR that is a cute adorable sneak peek.

My mini for my special partner Laquita should go out in the mail Tuesday. Monday is a holiday for anyone that might have forgot. I wasn't ready to send it out today. I like how it is turning out.

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!
Hugs to all!!! :)

MizMelly 01-17-2015 07:02 PM

Cool sneak peek, SheriR!

Thanks for all the nice compliments on my paper pieced mini that went to Kiffie. I've been paper piecing for years, it's addicting and I really enjoy the process!

JuanitaBean 01-17-2015 10:54 PM

Have been gone for 5 days for are 45th Anniversary. There has been a lot of nice looking mini made. Keep them coming.

tlambing 01-17-2015 11:05 PM

I spent my day today making 4 more of the snowmen minis I made last month. I really wanted one for myself, and my MIL asked me to make 3 for her! I think she's plans on 2 for gifts next year. It's been fun sewing in a small production line way ;)
I think that if I can get them done tomorrow, I might even mock up an idea for next months mini swap:) here's a hint, it'll be Green!

kiffie2413 01-18-2015 03:03 AM

Quiltjoey,
Sending healing thoughts your way.

SheriR,
Darling fabric in that sneak peek..

Teresa,
Next month that quilt needs to be considered a "mini", you need to be my partner, and the theme needs to be paper pieced New York Beauty quilts. As Brat says, "I say it, so it is so, Tada!".
Right? Tada..Um, right???;)

I honestly didn't think there was another gal as toony as I am (said with utmost respect to you)
As the first paper pieced quilt I made was the Christmas Pickle quilt. I posted a pic on here of it.
I didn't even really like that quilt pattern. But one of my friends tried to sign up for a class on it at one of our lqs. She's a teacher, and was going to have to miss the 1st class as she had to go out of town to chaperone a school trip. She was ready to pay in advance for everything, and had taken classes there before. But the lqs told her, "Can't miss class, so can't sign up. Sorry.".
She was also told that quilt is pretty much impossible to make without taking a class, just fyi..

Um, really? I'm sorry, but how rude. I'm the 1st to say I'm no quilt maker extraordinaire...far from it. I've only been quilting the last 5 yrs or so, mostly by hand until a couple of years ago. And I'm mostly self taught. But I would never presume to tell anyone what they can or cannot do.

So, I found a book with the Christmas Pickle pattern in it, and my friend and I each made one.
I have to say I wanted to throttle her a couple of times for involving me in it all...lol..

And I ate crow (I'm getting a taste for crow, I eat it enough) as I really like the way my top turned out.
Yep, top..as I need to quilt it :o..
Kif
