June Pincushion and Needlecase Swap - Signup Ends May 31
 

PLEASE NOTE: This will now be a partner swap instead of a secret swap. You will make one SET (1 pc and 1 nc) for your partner. All skill levels welcome!

THEME: This month the theme with be Food. Think fruit, vegetables, sweets, etc.

CONSTRUCTION:
1. The cushion/case does NOT have to be quilted or hand embroidered, although it can be. But it must be handmade - not purchased.
2. Use cotton or wool felt for the pincushions and stuff with appropriate filling. Use cotton or felt for the needle case, and it should have an insert of wool, felt, or Warm and Natural (this is great for needle cases).
3. Embellishments/appliqué/embroidery are welcome but not required. If you plan on using the cushion/case as a daily use item please mention this, as polyester will dull the points of pins and needles.
4. The size and shape of the pincushion/needle case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 3” x 3”.

Signup begins today and ends on May 31 at 11:00 pm EST. This is a firm closing time. Please send me a PM with your screen name, real name, email address and phone number. This is for my information only. Partners will be assigned no later than the morning of June 2nd and posted here on the thread. I will not be sending PMs to everyone. You are encouraged to contact your partner asap.

MAILING DATE:
The deadline for mailing is Monday, June 22. Participants in the May swap who did not fulfill their obligation by the time the June signup closes will not be able to participate in this swap. You are required to PM me with your tracking number when you ship. You are required to have a tracking number on your package but priority mail is not required. First class with a tracking number is acceptable. If for some reason you will not be able to fulfill your obligation, please PM me as soon as possible so that I can locate a swap angel.

YOU MUST SEND ME A PM WHEN YOU SHIP AND WHEN YOU RECEIVE. Remember to thank your partner, either by a post, or a PM for a personal thank you. It would be nice if you report a feedback score. Pictures are encouraged, but not required. We all love seeing what everyone is receiving. Please understand that this board has members with different skill levels and you will not necessarily be swapping with someone at the same level. Let's love the creation we are sent. We all started somewhere and the most important thing to remember, is that your partner made it with you in mind!

EXTRAS:
Please add a card or note with your name and board name. It is not necessary to send other items such as needles, pins, etc., but you may if you would like. Just make sure the pin points will not poke out during shipping and stab the postal worker.

Neat theme! ..... it lends itself to many possibilities.

FabQuilter, last fall for thanksgiving I think it was we did food and there were several really neat pincushions having to do with food. Some were food shaped and others used fabric with foods on them. It was a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy this one. Just relax and enjoy. Sorry lynnie, I guess there won't be anymore.

HEY!!! Where is everybody???

Just been sewing klaws.....hubby left for a 10 day "guy's only retreat" to the mountans this morning. I'm having myself a little retreat too, way less laundry, less cooking, etc.....:)

I have my pin cushion made, now to get my name and see if I have made one that is suitable for my partner's taste! Have my needle case all planned out and am ready to make it, too.

Three of my kids, the teenagers, are off to Civil Air Patrol camp for a week. I love peace and quiet, but this house is entirely too quiet. Plus, I keep making way too much food! The three younger kids and I will be busy holding down the fort, but boy do I miss them.

I'll be checking in on the thread and anxiously await getting my partner's name!

Jaba my hubby goes away twice a year for his job. I miss him but love the time to do wantever i like.I usually shop,sew and eat out!!

Gees it's only been a day and I miss him already..going to go nuts by next weekend. He left with instructions for a couple of chores...feed his dog and the chickens:) but I'm gathering those yummy eggs. Been sewing on blocks that I've received from the various swaps, mercy didn't realize how many quilts I had waiting to sew together. 3 more to do, actually started them last Monday and then I'll need to get about 12 quilted. Good thing is I won't run out of something to do. Think tomorrow I'll drive and go see our new twin grandbabies if they are going to be home. Haven't seen the boys in 10 days and on Monday they'll be 2 weeks old.

HI ALL:
Been sewing all afternoon and have decided I AM NOT TO DO ANYTHING diagonal.....I got the top of a twin quilt almost done and realized 2 rows were missing and bare had enough fabric for 2 rows....got them made and promptly DID NOT include them into the quilt. After all that work.... I Chucked it out I was so mad.... and I KNOW everyone out there has had a real screw up project some where along your sewing years!!!.... OH well.... it wasn't in colors I really like nor was it a gift that needed to get done! I feel better now that I have vented to gals who know exactly how It feels!!! A good laugh at least!!!

Oh Jan! I feel so bad for you! I am glad to hear that I am not the only that has flubbed something and gotten so frustrated by my attempts to "make it right" that I threw it into the garbage! Sometimes it seems like the situation just snowballs and "chucking it out" is the only way to prevent an avalanche! LOL

You all won't believe this but when does little episodes of bad luck stop??? I have been sick since last Thursday, progressively got worse and I just thought I was having a melt down.. I get them off and on.. Told a friend/nurse symptoms and she said " I believe a doctor visit is in order." So called a friend and off we went. Sinus infection/mds and all... Jus wanted to say got my name Suzy0879 will be checking I with you tomorrow

Klaws , I've been making childrens quilts all day for cancer patients, then helped my hubby assemble a new nest box , and picked the garden! I was so anxious to find out my partners. Yea. I'm excited. So start sewing now !!! I love these swaps.

Night faded, stars appeared and I was sew happy sewing away! Spent afternoon auditioning fabrics, patterns and ideas not to mention getting my sewing notions, i.e. the Clover self threading gadget, etc., handy. Just need to hear back from one of my partners to narrow down what I stitch for her.

My schedule is crazy but it works; I manage to fit in some sewing fun.
