Mini Quilt Swap- sign ups close June 20th

June/July Mini Quilt swap Sign-ups close June 20th, 2014

For this swap we will be making miniature quilts. The suggested size is 6-18 inches or anywhere in between, finished. Square, round, rectangle, hexi, it’s up to you.
(If you and your partner decide to go slightly bigger, that is up to the two of you)

The theme will be “Summer” either literally or just the color way you choose.
The little quilt must have a top, batting and backing and must be bound. You can use any method you wish to fashion the top, piecing, appliqué, whole cloth, thread painting etc.

This will be a partnered swap. Each partner will make a mini quilt for the other.
(Partners cannot impose requirements or expectations upon each other.)

Please PM tlambing by Friday June 20th to sign up. I will then match up names and get them out to you by the evening of June 22nd. You will have until July 31st to mail your tiny quilt to your partner. This is a FIRM DEADLINE!
Please don’t sign up unless you can commit fully to this deadline.

Please pm the following info to tlambing if you wish to join us:
Size you would prefer to make: extra small -small- either
Board name:
Real name:
Phone # :
(this will not be given to your partner, this is for my use only in the event that a problem should arise)
Do you have any allergies:
Do you have any allergens (cats, dogs, smoker etc.)
Can you ship internationally:
Do you have the ability to post pictures:

As soon as names are given, please contact your partner right away.
Please contact me asap if you are having trouble getting in contact.
Please continue to post on the thread throughout the swap. Let everyone know of your progress, post sneak peeks and encourage other swappers:) It’s so much fun seeing everyones progress and sharing in our quilting friendship.

Any swapper that fails to follow through and does not contact me and their partner will be banned from any of my future swaps and will receive bad (swap)feedback. I know that sometimes things happen that are out of our control, I certainly would take this into consideration, but you MUST COMMUNICATE.

****Please make sure to read the general rules that apply to all swaps here on the quilting board****

I am required to insist that participants send me, tlambing, at least 1 PM during this 6 week swap to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project.

I am required to insist that participants notify me, tlambing as soon as they have finished their quilt and are ready to mail it.

Once I have received notice that both partners are ready to mail, I will send each of you a pm to let you know it’s time to mail.

I am required to insist that all participants send me, tlambing verification of shipment, including tracking information.

Participants are required to insure that packages will not arrive “postage due”

Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc imposed by the recipients government are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship by July 31st shall be deemed as “late” and risk receiving Negative (swap) feedback.

Please keep in touch with me and your partner as required. Please let me know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time.

Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So…please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

JuneBillie 06-13-2014 07:46 AM

I will be finishing some things up, and then be able to think about my little quilt. Sounds like we are all going to have lot's of fun.

buslady 06-13-2014 09:47 AM

Thank you Omacookie for poking me on this one!! I would have missed it. I have been very busy remodeling the bathroom at home, and along the way, started a couple of other projects!! Oh, me, oh, my!! I do that all the time. I was not going to do any swaps for the summer, but this is just irrisistable! I am doing a round robin on another site, but have my last 3 Boom swaps to get the tops together. Can't even think about it with the house torn up like it is. LOL But a mini won't take much space, right?

tlambing 06-13-2014 10:20 AM

We are amassing quite a great group! Thanks so much for signing up ya'll :)
I can't wait to get started!!!!

JuanitaBean 06-13-2014 01:03 PM

kiffie2413 06-13-2014 10:40 PM

I'm so excited for this! I recently purchased one of the lil metal mini quilt holder stands, it's 12" x 14", and poor lil thing is sitting empty...:( So this swap is perfect!! And I almost overlooked it. I've got to check in more often on the swaps pages...
Here's a link to the stand I bought:

Yes. Isn't this exciting???
I've already started planning mine? I think mine will finish 6x8" With a perfect summertime theme ;)
Anyone else got an idea of what they may be doing?

JuanitaBean 06-14-2014 12:45 PM

I'm trying something out today just to see how it's going to work and what size it will be.

JenniePenny 06-14-2014 01:42 PM

I'm working on something that will finish at about 10" x 12".

kiffie2413 06-14-2014 02:53 PM

I have it narrowed down, but making sure, we choose what to make as long as it's in the guidelines outlined, right?
I know on some swaps we have to wait, get your partner, and ask what they're wanting.
I am fine either way, but I actually prefer the "surprise" of getting what my partner has chosen. Plus, I'm pretty adventurous as far as I'm not picky on what I get. I figure when we sign up for a swap, we go into it knowing we all have different tastes, and skill levels.
I always just try to make something I would be happy to get back.

Jenniepenny, your size will fit my "poor lil empty" table top quilt holder perfectly...
Kif

Difergie 06-14-2014 03:37 PM

I was waiting to get my partner but I do have an idea of what I would like to make. :-)

tlambing 06-14-2014 04:44 PM

The theme is "summer". What you make is totally up to you. Hoping for surprises all around! I'm going to do my best to put like finished sizes together, wish me luck.

omacookie 06-15-2014 05:14 AM

At our monthly guild " Sew In " yesterday I put together my mini top also the backing. It is 12 x 12 in. I can hardly wait to see my swap partner !!!!

Quilty-Louise 06-15-2014 06:54 AM

I have so many ideas that I can't seem to decide on just one LOL.

MizMelly 06-15-2014 08:45 AM

I already have ideas too!!! All those mini paper pieced patterns......!!!!! Can't wait!

klaws 06-15-2014 09:23 AM

nancia 06-15-2014 01:29 PM

[ haven't done this in forever, but I am between quilts so it's a good idea. I'm in!

LAQUITA 06-15-2014 01:38 PM

I'm game for any size as well!

Elisabrat 06-15-2014 02:17 PM

ok you got me. :) I have so many different color flowers here that that is never an issue :) no applique from me. done it and didn't enjoy it very much at all. Not great at it. but open to all sorts of other ideas :) something pretty could be used as a little wall hanging but also as a table topper? perhaps...so many options... so many ideas. I can do that time line no trouble. gulp (grin).

tlambing 06-15-2014 04:17 PM

Welcome aboard Brat!

We're off to a running start! With 20 swappers so far!!!!

I couldn't sleep so I ended up looking at mini quilts. I was surprised to see this way a very small mini was used. It was put in between some pretty cups to add more interest with this little partridge. I think we are going to have lots of fun. In this instance though, it does not have a binding as we are to do, but it was listed in with mini quilts.

Difergie 06-16-2014 05:41 AM

That is sew cute...do we have to bind or is a finished edge good? I think on a tiny piece a binding might overwhelm it.

Linny 06-16-2014 05:41 AM

Really sweet display of a mini quilt.
