I am sending in the flat rate boxes also. Most of the time I add homemade jams and jellies to my boxes so the weight can get up there and with the flat rate I dont have to worry about busting my budget.

If you have a credit or debit card, sign up on USPS.com, and look at the Regional rates. Depending on how far you have to send, postage is much less than Flat Rate and you can put up to 20 lbs. in a box.

Even if it's the wrong answer, you should still win :-)

I received my name and sadly she is not active on the board -- 5 posts in 8 months, and the last was to sign up for this swap. The same thing happened to me on another Board -- I drew a name who was not active. Makes getting excited about sending a tad difficult as I feel I'm sending to a ghost. But it is what it is.

ArizonaKAT 10-02-2013 08:31 AM

OK grann of 6. I love gifts from the heart. It was actually one of the few things I wrote on my wish list. Hoping you get my name.

I give gifts from the heart, not the pocketbook, and will be happy with the same. My little DGD loved going to the Dollar Store and buying some piece of $ junk, then complaining when it broke before she ever got home. I told her if she saved that dollar from her trips to the store, she could have $10 to buy something nice that wouldn't break.

buddy'smom 10-02-2013 08:31 AM

I know how you feel, has happened to me before, but I alos have to say, some who don't post often may just surprise you.

Yes! There are a few threads I stalk but never have posted to. But how to pull that person to into this thread to get hints?

You obviously don't have my name. :D

ArizonaKAT 10-02-2013 09:00 AM

I've decided to give a hint a day until I send my package. Here's my new hint: My SS did a wonderful job describing herself.

Since I didn't do a very good job myself, I will add some description here.

I love any of the earthy tones. Yellow is a favorite. Autumn is my favorite season to decorate for. I don't have much pink/purples/black/grays. Not that I don't like them, I can never find them on sale.

I can never have too many seam rippers, nipper sissors, or inexpensive cheater glasses (250s) I find at the discount stores. I have them all over the house at every sewing machine and ironing board and cutting table and in my truck. I buy bunches a year and somehow they just get up and walk off.

Out of my four dogs, one is a pit bull. Although any toy would be appreciated, it would not be long lived. They eat everything. I have a half a tire in my backyard.

I sew on vintage machines. The newest one I have is from the early 60s. It can zig zag. So needless to say, my quilts are simple "old school" straight sitched. Nothing fancy. I didn't even know you could add applique to a quilt before I joined this board.

I send homemade gifts and love to receive the same.

With that said, I hope this helps whoever gets my name. If you need more info, please pm me! (Anyone think that worked to find out who got my name? OK, climbing back into the hole).

I am one who is not active for posting....shy, maybe? But I DO love to read the posts of others. My passion is making bags. I also have made many quilts in a variety of patterns....amendment: I've made many quilt TOPS, then my quilting guru takes over! I've been collecting blues and creams in 1/4 and 1/2 yd pieces for awhile with plans to eventually make a blue and whitish quilt for me. I am a sucker for things made with love. The joys associated with paper piecing elude me so if my secret santa loves paper piecing, hints (secrets) for pp success would make a fabulous gift. Then maybe I could feel the love for pp. New gadgets that have been quilter-tested intrigue me, so passing along info about any is also a wonderful gift. They best things are not always the pricey ones!

Will you be joining us, in the hole? We're the fun group . . . and have cocoa w/coconut rum . . . and light-up tiaras . . . except for Dreamer, who usually wears a fake halo but somehow misplaced it, so is running around bare-headed. :D

That's ok, it just means you get to send what you want. I'm sure whoever it is will love it.

Oh, I'm a waiting for my SS partners name, oh who will she be????

Neesie 10-02-2013 10:47 AM

Still no SS person. WAHHHHH!!! :(

I was on my way to finish a quilt top, when I noticed the back porch needed sweeping. While sweeping it, decided it'd be easier to just take the hose to it. That required first cleaning it off (bags of potting soil, planters, various dh power tools, etc.). Long story short, the back porch is now clean, with various removed items awaiting proper placement. My sinuses are objecting to the dust and I feel too grimy, to be having the quilt strips on my lap. Figure I may as well wait until dh gets home, for him to help me find places for the removed items (some are his), so no need to take a shower just yet. SO HERE I AM, AGAIN! Is it any wonder I'm such a slow quilter? :D

Maybe I'll tape together a Flat Rate box, just to get it ready.

I have a real halo...nothing fake about this woman! Does the hole have an escalator? and continental breakfast? I know when it rains, it will rain fabric.....right?

Oooooooh, don't let Dreamer know you've got a halo!

No escalator but the slide is quite fun. As for breakfast, whatever you bring to share, will be fine!

Dont mind those used mags, patterns, books, rulers, or anything used for that matter. LOVE them, after all its the thought that counts not how much someone spent. Used items are a great way to add variety and make your money go farther. I almost always send something that is used unless they request me not too. I wouldnt have half the fun things I do if it wasnt for someone being nice enough to part ways with the items they have already used and enjoyed.

mdall 10-02-2013 11:36 AM

BTW, still no name. I am still down here in the hole and it takes a while for messages to get here and for all us to get around to reading them since most of us probably look like the picture above by now.

sewnsewer2 10-02-2013 11:38 AM

I'll bring hot coffee and pastries for breakfast! How long do we have to stay in the hole, and is there a fan or a/c in there? There will be a lot of 'hot air' flying around I'm sure.:D

Wonderful thought, I love pastries for breadfast. Make sure some of them have chocolate or lemon in or on them. Sorry there are not any fans or a/c down here but we are so far down in the hole at this point it is naturally cool as a cucumber here. By the time xmas gets here will most likely will have down ourselves so far down we will have to change our residency to China. LOL Then we will have sokie (spelling) instead of rum with our coffee. LOL

Broken pieces don't count . . . so we'll just break it all.

Judith1005 10-02-2013 01:36 PM

I received my partners name. And she gave me just enough information to really have fun with. She is a really active member on the board. Just not here in the "Secret Santa" swap. But she is very informative. She is a very appreciative swapper. Should be easy to please. So, now, plan to go and plan out my plan of attack. :D

Got a wonderful pattern today for ornaments. May just add one to my SS box.

Also went to my quilt meeting today and was introduced to the Twister Tool that we were commenting on the other day. Purchased one of the patterns for it that came with a small Tool. We are making Twisted Trees. Looks like it will be fun.
