OCTOBER Pincushion and Needlecase Swap - signup closes September 30

This is a secret swap and you will not necessarily be sending to the person who will send to you. You may sign up for two items: can be either 2 pincushions OR 2 needle cases OR 1 of each. International swappers are welcome to join us, and can send a pincushion "unstuffed" to save on postage. All skill levels welcomed!

THEME: This month the theme with be
Halloween and/or Fall.

CONSTRUCTION:

1. The cushion/case does NOT have to be quilted or hand embroidered, although it can be. But it must be handmade - not purchased.
2. Use cotton or wool felt for the pincushions and stuff with appropriate filling. Use cotton or felt for the needle case, and it should have an insert of wool, felt, or Warm and Natural (this is great for needle cases).
3. Embellishments/appliqué/embroidery are welcome but not required. If you plan on using the cushion/case as a daily use item please mention this, as polyester will dull the points of pins and needles.
4. The size and shape of the pincushion/needle case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 3” x 3”.

SIGN UPS:
Sign-ups begin today and end on September 30th at 11:00 pm EST. This is a firm closing time. Names will be assigned by PM beginning no later than the morning of October 2nd. Please respond to this thread with a post if you are joining the swap. Then highlight and copy the information sheet onto a new PM, fill it in and PM it to me. Please put in the subject line of the PM what you want to swap. I will acknowledge receipt of your PM.

MAILING DATE:
The deadline for mailing is Friday Oct. 17th. International swap mail date is Wed. Oct. 15th.
Participants in the September swap who did not fulfill their obligation by the time the October signup closes will not be able to participate in this swap.
You are required to PM me with your tracking number when you ship. You are required to have a tracking number on your package but priority mail is not required. First class with a tracking number is acceptable.
If for some reason you will not be able to fulfill your obligation, please PM me as soon as possible so that I can locate a swap angel.

YOU MUST SEND ME A PM WHEN YOU SHIP AND WHEN YOU RECEIVE. Remember to thank your partner, either by a post, or a PM for a personal thank you. It would be nice if you report a feedback score to your SP. Pictures are encouraged, but not required. We all love seeing what everyone is receiving. If you are unable to post a picture, please make sure that you mark that on your information sheet so that your partner can take a picture before shipping it. Please understand that this board has members with different skill levels and you will not necessarily be swapping with someone at the same level. Let's love the creation we are sent. We all started somewhere and the most important thing to remember, is that your partner made it with you in mind!

EXTRAS:
Please add a card or note with your name and board name so the recipient knows who made it. It is not necessary to send other items such as needles, pins, etc., but you may if you would like. Just make sure the pin points will not poke out during shipping and stab the postal worker. Honest – this has happened – one of the swappers mentioned it.

The more you add, the better she/he will be able to get to know you. Plus, I will be using this info to match partners. If you have questions, please PM me and I will try to answer as quickly as possible.

REQUIRED: I am required to tell participants to send me a monthly PM to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project. I am required to insist that all participants send me verification of shipment, to include tracking information. Participants are required to ensure packages will not arrive “postage due.” Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc imposed by the recipient’s government are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship shall be deemed “late” and risk receiving Negative [Swap] Feedback. Please keep in touch with me and let me know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time. Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So … please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

SHOULD YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS PLEASE PM ME IMMEDIATELY! Thank you, and enjoy this swap.

ctyankee 09-24-2014 03:15 AM

I really had fun last month, making the items plus seeing all the amazing pincushions & needle cases everybody makes! Talk about inspiration! I really couldn't wait to get started on this month! I love Halloween but, unfortunately, we don't decorate anymore because everybody's kids (including ours) have grown up & moved away! But I still remember the great times we had when the kids were younger. I used to make all their Halloween costumes -- then got to stay home handing out candy while dad went out Halloweening with the girls! I'm already planning my Thanksgiving p/c & n/c … and then, Christmas??? (I love autumn, too, it's my favorite season, but I can't seem to fit it in between Halloween & Thanksgiving!!) I really enjoy this group. Thanks for being so wonderful!

klaws 09-24-2014 04:20 AM

I am so glad that everyone enjoys this group. We have some very talented ladies. Everyone is so friendly and truly care about each other. I am proud to be the host! :hug:

nhnative 09-24-2014 04:57 AM

We do have a great group and you are the hostess with the mostest. Only 50 this morning, but it's going to be in the 70's until next Wed. The colors are starting to turn and I love this time of year. Have a great day

klaws 09-24-2014 05:01 AM

Pat, wish I was there now. But I have to wait for 2 more months before that happens. :(

Quilty-Louise 09-24-2014 05:58 AM

Count me in! I have a some ideas that I am playing with in my mind.

Only question is will they turn out the way I hope? LOL

Sending a pm.

klaws 09-24-2014 06:02 AM

Everyone go check out the picture collages that are on the Sept. thread. I just posted them. It is so cool to see all the pictures together.

Quilty-Louise 09-24-2014 06:10 AM

Just looked at the pictures and they are awesome.

Quilty-Louise 09-24-2014 06:13 AM

Question for ALL pincushion/needle case swappers

Now I have a general question for ALL the swappers.

Do you like fabric yo-yos that are already made? I ask because
I have oodles and oodles of them at LEAST 2 full jumbo (2.5 gallon)
zip lock bags and various other zip lock bag sizes.

There are various sizes and colors of yo-yos.

I will send some to my partner IF I see them post a "YES" to this question.

The ONLY color I may not send you is PINK!, and the reason for that is because
I am working on a yo-yo quilt for my daughter.

klaws 09-24-2014 06:15 AM

Louise, I may not be your partner but you can send me some! :D:D:D

Quilty-Louise 09-24-2014 06:28 AM

I will do that Karen!

Quilty-Louise 09-24-2014 06:35 AM

Have any of you ever seen the "Pintastic" contraption?

http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=492907&stc=1

Go read my post in the "main" forum about my purchase.

lawsonmugs 09-24-2014 07:45 AM

I love the picture collage. It's so neat to see them all together. Impressive. We did good. (pat pat on backs) I signed up again also for one of each. Louise I love yo yo's too.

lynnie 09-24-2014 08:13 AM

Louise, I LOVE yo yo's they're so fun. I made pillow tops out of them . put pearls in the centers to give them some bling. Came out so pretty and really made it more festive.

Pat we slept with the window open in the broom, it was 50 here at 6:30. It warmed up to about 64*, but Zoey had icicles hanging off of her. it was super chilly.

Karen, thanks for posting the pics. We are the best group on the board.

NanaKathy55 09-24-2014 08:21 AM

Hello Ladies..
I also love yo yo's..

Lynnie..Will be praying for you to have a great surgery (if that is at all possible)..I am in Georgia and the weather this week is cool..last night at my granddaughters ball game we go a little chilly (not the usual weather for here) so I to am enjoying nice weather.

Love the pictures of all the great work we ladies have done..Thanks for sharing your talent with me!

Mrs Shak 09-24-2014 08:44 AM

I would appreciate yo yos since I don't make then myself.

It just warmed up to 65 today. The leaves are changing colors and it's beautiful.

jeanne49 09-24-2014 09:00 AM

I'm going to sit out this months swap. Currently I only have SS to live off of and I committed to another swap. I just can't afford the postage on some of these packages. Hopefully I will have a part time job soon and then maybe I can join in monthly on the swaps. So for now I try to choose a different one each month. But I will be checking out all the pictures of the items made.

klaws 09-24-2014 10:25 AM

I'm sorry that you won't be able to join us this month but I understand about living off of SS. Please come back and join us whenever you can.

klaws 09-24-2014 10:28 AM

I put a new thread on the Main forum about joining in on the October pc/nc swap. Well, I guess I wasn't supposed to do that. The QB police deleted my post. I don't understand but that's OK. :p

kiffie2413 09-24-2014 11:21 AM

Followed Klaws over here from the mini quilt swap...
And my friend Lynnie has told me many times how much she loves this swap...
I may just have to sign up one of these months...
Very clever and cute pin cushions/needle cases swapped last month!
Kif

klaws 09-24-2014 11:34 AM

Please join in Kiffie. We would love to have you!

ctyankee 09-24-2014 01:03 PM

Louise, I love yo-yos, too, so I say YES! I've been to retreats where people drop off whatever they don't want & I once picked up a bag of yo-yos. It wasn't until I got home that I realized how disappointing they were. They were not made correctly, so they're still sitting with my UFOs. (Someday they'll make it to someone else's house! Or maybe I can fix them?) Anyway, I'm sure yours are just perfect!

klaws 09-24-2014 01:05 PM

Well, Louise, I guess whoever you get as a swap partner would love to have some yo yo's.

nhnative 09-24-2014 01:10 PM

All my downstairs windows are shut but the door to the porch is open. It's 73 with a nice breeze. But it was 50 this morning and I had to put the heat on. Not for me. My windows upstairs are open now but I have to shut mine so I don't hear my neighbor's AC that it seems he only runs it at night because it's not on now. A lot of yellow leaves on the trees now.

lawsonmugs 09-24-2014 04:03 PM

Hey Kiffie,come and join in this ,month if you can.

lynnie 09-24-2014 04:34 PM

~~~~~Kiffie~~~ Yooo Hooo, over here, come join in on the fun.
We're really friendly here and non judgemental. we'll have fun.
Dr. called at 3, said he finally got to read my reports, how about we do the neck too.
Slow down. lets do the back first and then talk about the back. said some wires and electrodes
were loose. I want him to really think about it. I don't want to be split from hip to hip and down the back of my neck.
he wants me to go for more tests. How much moreof this can I do. Sooooo, if my PC is late being mailed that's why.
by late I mean saturday. that's late for me. I hope my partner doesn't mind.
Oh And I love yo yo's incase you didn't rad the first one.
klaws 09-24-2014 05:16 PM
Lynnie, you worry too much. Your partner will totally understand that you will be a little late. We just want you to take it easy and get better! And don't over-do it!!!
ladysaint 09-24-2014 06:33 PM
Ok...newbie here jumping in! I am Toni Ann aka ladysaint and am fairly new to QB. I participated in the halloween block swap, but have never done a pincushion swap. Thought it would be fun. So if Klaws will approve my info, I will be in!
Hello everyone!
lynnie 09-24-2014 07:25 PM
welcome ladysaint. we're a fun bunch. alot of chatter too. Can't wait to see what you make.
Our hostess, usually posts a theme for us, but it's very loose. Last month if you haven't heard was purple, so you could do anything in purple. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is doing for Halloween. A fun time of year.
klaws 09-25-2014 03:19 AM
Welcome Toni Ann! I received your info and am glad to have you join us. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!!! :D
