Hmm summer does fill up so fast. Just this morning I was wondering how I ever got home education in as I have no time left now. We are taking summer break.

DD, her hubby and baby boy are heading this direction. They are crossing from New Mexico through Arizona today and should be here Wednesday. We haven't seen them for a year as they were missionaries in Africa. They have visited all other relatives on the way over here and we are the end of the line. They are not sure how long they will live with us as son in law is applying for positions in the ministry. One part of me wants it to be a long time but I know that would not be good for their little family. I know when he finds a position they will probably move far away again. They had malaria after coming back but both are doing much better now even though they are still weak and coughing. DH is pretty worried about them driving through Arizona today because of the heat and fires there.

Babeyruth, message from Whigrose, she has your rows, has a plan to do them, but life has been happening for her so she is going to be a little slow in getting them to you. Please be patient with her she asks. She WILL get it done. Her life has a lot going on at the moment.

It will be awesome for you Anna to see that baby grandson, you get busy on that elephant quilt now. They are always dear to our hearts for sure.

babeyruth 07-05-2013 05:35 AM

Hi All,

No problem on delay with mine 'babeyruth' I don't want you to feel pressured, just knowing where the row is usually is the biggest concern. So Whigrose, that is okay from me. Also everyone else, if you want to modify the row I created, don't feel bad. I'd rather you like it and make it your own, my feelings won't be hurt! lol

The safari came home last night!!!!!

Annaquilts 07-09-2013 05:49 AM

Wow! I really like it. Now how cute is that? My eyes can't stop scanning all the different blocks and prints. I am so pleased with how all these rows are turning out.

So far the month has been very busy but I hope to hunker down on wighrose's row soon. Thursday evening is the baby shower for my little grandson. I am on the end stretch of getting his baby quilt done. Just in time! After that it is swap and quilting obligations. I am really enjoying this sweet little grand baby. He is very busy but happy as can be and just likes to stand on your legs when you hold his little hands and then he grunts. All guy! I am also enjoying DD and SIL living with us.

Whigrose 07-09-2013 02:29 PM

QM-I love how your rows turned out! They are awesome.

best,
d

Whigrose 07-09-2013 02:34 PM

Babeyruth,
I am so sorry to not have your rows to you. This is so NOT like me; usually I am ahead of schedule and often the first one done on my obligations.

As QM told the group, my life is upside down right now. Literally, dh and I don't know if we are coming or going. We have a lot going on in our life - hopefully it will settle down soon.

I do know what I want to do with your rows and for me that is always more than half the battle. I am working on something that is wrapping up and hope to be started on your row ?maybe the first of next week.

Again, I apologize for holding up your rows. If you would like the others, I would be happy to mail them out to you while I commence work on yours. Just say the word.

best,
d

QuilterMomma 07-09-2013 02:47 PM

Whigrose, you do have until the end of July to get the rows done. So don't panic. We are all within the time limits here. It was such a sweet surprise to receive mine last night. I just so love it and my daughter will also, if I give it to her.

Judith1005 07-09-2013 03:54 PM

Ladies, I am loving all your beautiful quilts coming in. There are some seriously fun rows.

Of course, I love the beachy one. (That is home for me.)
I love the "neighborhood" rows. So imaginative!
I love the Safari. One of my friends would just LOVE this quilt.

Have I missed any? I didn't meant to. I keep stopping in to see how yall are doing and to get a serious dose of eye candy. WTG ladies. :)

Annaquilts 07-14-2013 09:18 PM

Yes there is one more whigrose's sewing machines row.

Off topic but here is a link to the elephant baby quilt I just finished for my grandson.

Whigrose 07-16-2013 05:14 AM

I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel here ladies. Yea!

Yesterday I completed a huge project I have been working on, it's done but snipping threads. Then to get it off in the mail to its owner, hopefully tomorrow.

And what this means is tomorrow I can open up the USPS package that has been sitting on one of my works tables since the day it arrived. Babeyruth, I can't wait to open it! Seeing all the gorgeous pictures of it growng have been killing me not to be able to play with it yet. Outisde of maybe needing to augment some of my fabrics, I think I should be able to have it done and out the door on its way to you before the deadline. Barring life.

Dh and I will taking a month long road trip during September heading to Wyoming, Montana and if time permits, Idaho. We are so excited! So if you know any great don't-miss diners, shops, places to see/experience, please share. While we will be seeing Glacier, Yellowstone, Teton and other National Parks, we really want to experience the towns and communities. We will be going through Minnesota and one or both Dakotas. Really no plans, no itinerary, no commitments-just going free.

The big decision is -do I really want to drag along a sewing machine for the times he is fishing? Maybe my handcrank? Knitting seems so much more portable-and much lighter to haul around. :-)

best,
d

Whigrose 07-16-2013 05:18 AM

Anna,
The elephant quilt is adorable! And how ingenious to leave the ears flappable. What baby isn't going to have fun playing with those?[

THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Annaquilts 07-17-2013 06:22 AM

Whigrose I am actively working on your row. I also hope to have it done by the dead line. When ever people walk into the studio they always comment how much they like it.

Annaquilts 07-19-2013 05:31 AM

How are you doing whigrose? Are we the only two left working on rows? I hope you like what I decided. Feel free to tweek and change to what you want if you feel so.

Annaquilts 07-19-2013 09:20 AM

Done! I hope to pack and ship by this weekend.

QuilterMomma 07-19-2013 10:06 AM

Well that was quick Anna, you knew what you were doing for sure. And look at that, a whole extra 12 days to spare.

Annaquilts 07-19-2013 12:02 PM

I worked on it almost exclusively since I got the elephant quilt and batik blocks done last week. Just yesterday I got to bed at 1 am last night and got up at 6 am this morning. Yes, I did know where I was going thanks to your help. I hope whigrose will like it as it is rather familiar. (hint) I did this hoping to tie it all together.

Annaquilts 07-19-2013 12:05 PM

Hey Beth shouldn't you be celebrating? Are any guests coming from out of town? I am with you in though birthday girl. Enjoy!

QuilterMomma 07-19-2013 01:34 PM

I should be and will for another six weeks till it is officially my birthday. The girls decided since both their dad and I turn 50, his on June 3 and mine on August 23, that the middle of July was best to celebrate as not to favor either of us. the party is at 2:00 tomorrow, when can i expect you all?

Whigrose 07-19-2013 03:33 PM

Anna,
I have seen your work, multiple times in fact. You do top rate stuff! I would NEVER change anything you do for me.[

~~dancing ~~ can't wait to see what you have done for me. If you'd like, post a pic. If you don't want me to see, shoot me a pm and I won't peek.

Best,
deb

Beth I'll be early to help with the last food preparations. Afterwards can we play with your long arm? :D

Aaahhh I see whigrose will be fashionably late.

Annaquilts 07-22-2013 05:19 AM

Last night DH helped me pack up whigrose's row robin and today it should start its journey home. I am happy how it turned out and see it go home but it is a bit bitter sweet as it is the last of this row robin as I am now done. Of course I do get the excitement of putting my rows together and I hope to post pictures of the top when it is pieced but I'll miss "our" little row robin group. Special thanks to all who participated and the wonderful work you did on my rows. I really enjoyed the privilege of working on your rows too. Please post pictures of your completed rows/top if you can.

Whigrose 07-22-2013 08:30 AM

Oh Anna, how exciting for me! I cannot wait to see all the rows in real. Anna, feel free to post a pic if you want to.

This leaves only babeyruth's rows out and they are safe with me. Hoping to get to them before too long.

best,
d

QuilterMomma 07-22-2013 11:28 AM

So ladies, where were you. I was outside on the corner of the street waiting anxiously for you to be there. Boy was I disappointed. So Mariposa came instead and we played out on the longarm or at least admired my new blocks I received with the gorgeous applique that I will be assembling this coming week after I set my machine back up from the cleaning the girls made me do. My house is immaculant. Then the girls gave us a weekend getaway in Coeru D'Alene so we will be having a little time away, just the two of us, sounds good, but yet leaving the house unattended with just the kids? Have to think on that one. Was this a ploy? LOL
Excited to see the rows going home although there is still time for those who want to use it to the max. I have three other rows to do in another row robin because we had some issues, but all is good, they are moving along. Life is wonderful, but gives us our time constraints when it comes to our quilting.

Whigrose 07-29-2013 06:03 AM

Hi all,
Just popping in to let you know I am still around. Our lives are spiraling right now (have been for the last several weeks) and someone or something is messing with our navigational compass - we're not really sure which direction our bow is pointed.

Basically, I want to once again assure Ruth you have nothing to worry about regarding your rows. With the state of our house being readied for sale in the near future, I am not able to access my sewing room and will not be able to for about another week - I have three very large parrot cages in here while the room they will be moving into is being painted from top to bottom. We just completed the hardwood floor in that room yesterday.

Ruth, if you have any concerns, please pm me and include Quiltermomma in the cc line. She and I are off-line friends and knows it is only life that has prevented me from meeting the time constraints for this exchange. Other than not meeting the deadline, you really have nothing to worry about.

On another note, my rows came home and they are each and all fantastic! I am over the moon about them and cannot wait to join them together, although that is some time away. Thank you ladies for your contributions. It amazes me the work total strangers are willing to do for others. You ladies have exceeded even that.

Thanks, and best,
d

Doing the happy dance! Finally was able to start and complete Babeyruth's row and they will be heading to the Post Office in just a few. Babeyruth, thank you so much for all your patience - waiting on these rows was a trial, I'm sure.

You won't be disappointed. Your rows are my absolute fav! I totally love the colors; unfortunately my camera didn't pick them up accurately, but anyone that has worked on this set knows how vibrant the colors really are.

Enjoy. And please, send us all a pm when you put this baby together.

best,
d

And, now that you have it in the real, what do you think? I think it's amazing!

babeyruth 08-24-2013 07:21 AM

I just love my rows! they are so colorful and creative! I'm so lucky I got your names in this RR. Truly just beautiful and fun!

babeyruth 08-24-2013 07:22 AM

btw whigrose, I had been curious about how the bookcase pattern looks in quilts, it's so modern I just love that touch!

QuilterMomma 08-30-2013 01:12 PM

So any quilts put together yet? Hopefully I will be able to get to mine next month.

Annaquilts 08-30-2013 02:14 PM

Well a kind friend suggested that some small blocks of flying geese or so might look nice in the sashing of my quilts. I just haven't gotten to it. this one is for me so it will tend to get pushed to the bottom as I have birthday and Christmas gifts to make. But yes if you made your top or quilt please share.

babeyruth 08-31-2013 04:21 AM

Me too, I am starting to feel the pressure to get Christmas quilts started!

Annaquilts 06-04-2016 11:47 AM

I am actually working on this. Finally! I am adding a brown sashing in between the rows and might all around it like an inner border too if I have enough. I will do small flying geese as the border. This is what is holding me up, slow go. The good part is I made a stack of scrappy flying geese already and am sewing the rows together with the 2 inch sashing in-between. so I started.
