Esq and Jenell - you're narrowing it down for me because if you'd got me you'd know already - so now my list of POSSIBLE Santas is only, ermm 100 and something!

billswife99 10-14-2009 10:28 AM

I got my na-ame, I got my na-ame, nanny nanny boo boo!

Jim's Gem 10-14-2009 10:31 AM

Ninnie 10-14-2009 10:38 AM

Guess I have to wait also

*dances around room skiting*

I have my name too! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have a question (listen to all those sighs! ;-) )

Will it matter if the person realises who sent them their present once they've opened it? I'd really like to send some uniquely NZ stuff, but it will be a dead giveaway as soon as they open it. I can "do" generic so they don't know, but we have some very cool things here you guys don't get.

Blue - we're supposed to put a note INSIDE the package to say who we are, so it's only secret until we actually open it! So send those kiwis and Maori swords and whatever else you were thinking of! :D

When mine came last year the return name was Secret Santa, so I hide the WHOLE box from myself ! LOL I didn't even open the outside box , because I was fearful I might get tempted or the inside wouldn't be wrapped. And I intend to hide it again from myself this year, out of sight out of mind

STAR 10-14-2009 12:32 PM

I may have to hand it over to DH for hiding!! but I wonder if he would peek????

I envy you what self control. I wonder if they still sell those ex ray vision glasses that you could buy from the back of a comic book. I think I need some of those.

I think this is so much fun. You not only get a gift but now you can also get a pen pal. It is so neat to think of what you might get from around the world. Even here in the USA everybody gets different stuff than what you get in your native state. Use to have friend that lived in North Carolina for a few years. Whne he came home he stocked up on Big Red soda, Albert's Hot SAuce, bought cowboy boots & Wrangler jeans because he couldn't get them in NC. BBQ is not the same here as in other states. Even Taco Bell tastes different in other states than here. We are all unique in our own special ways. Can hardly wait.

Debra Mc 10-14-2009 07:10 PM

Hey Trupeach. I run our little league concession stand & you won't believe what we sell tons of. French fries with nacho chees & chili. This & chili cheese nachos are our best sellers. It's crazy what we sell. The kids love pickle pops which are frozen pickle juice in the small condiments cups. Can't keep enough of them made. Want more culture shock. Have a mother from Kansas & dad from Texas. To say the least meals were never boring. Didn't have cornbread dressing till after we all married & mom learned to make it
from our southern boys. We still have both kinds Thanksgiving & Christmas.Be fun to exchange recipes.

billswife99 10-14-2009 08:19 PM

I think it's against the law to make dressing without cornbread here!

We are going to have to google Lurkingdom for sure.

sharon b 10-14-2009 08:22 PM

Lurkingdom... I think it is east of the UK ! LOL

Cincinnati is famous for their chili, I am not kidding google it. They have this chilli that looks and smells like slop they put cinnamon and cocoa in it. There are no chunks of meat it looks like brown slime' They have a 3 way which is spaghetti yep I wrote spaghetti then the chili on top and this bright orange mass of stuff they call cheese. then there is the 4 way add onions on the top of all that. There is something called a coney dog, hot dog with this slop chilli on top. It is the most disgusting thing in the world. Sarah Jessica Parker is from Cincinnati and she says the first things she does when she visits is she goes to skyline chili. These people are crazy. They eat this stuff like there is no tomorrow they even sell it in cans. I truely believe that it was invented using cinnamon and cocoa to cover up the taste of the road kill that they must have used to make it way back when in the days of old and food was hard to come by. when you pass the place (can't call it a restaurant) the smell gets in your nose and lingers for hours. I don't know how people eat it I guess it is an aquired taste.

I thought Lurkingdom was by the Bermuda triangle. All the people there seem to get lost and wander around aimlessly.

Hi ligia you've started a mystery here! I gather you're from an English speaking country because your English is perfect, but can't be UK, Canada, Australia or NZ, hmmm, South Africa? Where else speaks English? Or maybe you're an expat? :D

Sharon - I'm hiding mine too, from myself!

Lurkingdom is the next island over from me.

Funny....While on a visit to Cincinnati my then 4 year old niece ordered Chili. She refused to eat it. When we asked her why, she said it was
"musscusting". When we stopped laughing we asked her why it was "musscusting". "Because it is much badder than da-scusting". In our family now, everything that is really bad is musscusting.
