Here are the fives sets I am working on, still needs some triming, and the two sets of applique blocks need the stitching around. I intend to do six sets before I am done, but wanted to say I was in, and show my progress so far. They will all be 9 1/2 by 9 1/2. Not sure about that last set... size or design... I'm still thinking...

And I have a question, it says to lable you blocks with your name, does that mean to write on the blocks, or to lable the baggie we put them in? I'm not fond of writing on blocks. So, I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Nice job Kensington! Yes, labels are important, but not permanent labels. I've pm'd you. Welcome!

kensington 09-25-2012 02:06 PM

One more question... I believe the rule is that if you have "add ons" to your blocks, ie: Buttons, bows, bells, etc... you don't sew them them on, you pin them or put them in a baggie?

I attach a mailing label to the back of the block. Usually I make special ones for swaps, but had so many address labels I used up a lot of them in the boom swap so I made new labels for this one. The reason I like using address labels is so I can keep track of who made what block for my quilt, I usually leave them on until I am ready to do the layering and quilting. And the good thing about the address labels is they are easy to move around. One quilt I made for my Niece I put a label on the back if there was not one on it I just wrote the name of the Quilter and the location: Example Marybeth Crestline CA, because my niece was more interested in where they came from than who made it, but I wanted to know who made it so I could send thanks, or keep accurate records.

I hope this helps. btw I get my labels at the 99 cent store, I can usually find them in packs of ten pages with 30 on each page for 99 cents.

Rhonda, I did not get my package together in time for mail run but it is ready now so going out tomorrow. I will post the last set picture as soon as I get camera back from hubby! he is taking pictures for Craig's list! LOL, that man is a bargaining addict~ And he loves the free pages on Craig's list!

This is my last block to be appliqued. That will make my 6 sets. I'm having a hard time deciding if it looks like an ornament or not... the pattern is. LOL. It has a ribbon tie with it. 6 1/2 X 9 1/2. I need to go pick up some thread for applique.

***Cuteness!

kensington 09-26-2012 02:17 PM

Oh you know what would be cute?? My ornament block made me think of it... since I think it kinda looks like a jar with ornaments in it. LOL... That block I've seen that is a jar, using candy cane, ornament, or fabric like that! I should have thought of that sooner. Oh... yeah... NOW the ideas come. ROTFLOL

marytoddliz 09-26-2012 09:21 PM

I love your block, but I love the idea too, like the jars you see in a candy store at Christmas time.

You should deffinately do the "Jars of candy" blocks... and I should get one for coming up with the idea! Don't you agree? :p

Nobody's done jars?

rwquilts 09-27-2012 03:36 PM

Well, I recently made one canned chicken jar block for our recent chicken block swap. :) Does that count?

I haven't seen anyone post that block yet. If I hadn't already done all six of my sets, I'd do it. Whoa's me... Maybe you will do them???

SheriR 09-27-2012 10:07 PM

LoL Ronda I hope I get one of your canned chickens!! I'll be happy to do a jar of Christmas candy! I'll have to go shop for the right candy!!

Kensington, your blocks are all so pretty!!

dottie dodge 09-28-2012 10:07 AM

I'm signing up for this swap too. Sheri, let me know what you are using for candy. I really like that idea! Thanks Kensington for the idea. All the blocks that have been posted are so great. Love them all!

QuilterMomma 09-28-2012 01:04 PM

SheriR, I prefer candy with caramel please. The jar needs to be really fat and chocked full of course.

SheriR 09-28-2012 02:03 PM

Carmel.... I'd eat it all. I saw the most fun print of ribbon candy. I wish I had bought it. I'll never remember where I saw it. Dottie use anything you want. :D

rwquilts 09-28-2012 03:58 PM

Welcome to KLT Quilts and Dottie Dodge! Happy to have you join in the fun!

QuilterMomma, you might as well throw in the towel and join up...you know you want to... :):) You'd make #20...good number there... :)

Carmels and fudge are my downfall speaking of candy...and that season is coming quickly is it not????

Rhonda~ I made a great big booboo, I sent my blocks to you, then when I was cleaning my sewing room, ok it was not me! I have to confess the girl next door comes over once every other week to clean my sewing room, in exchange for cool stuff I sew for her and lessons! I love her to pieces... Oh yeah where was I??? While we were cleaning she lifts up this baggie full of cool stuff and said "Where do you want this?" Well I want it in the mail going along with all the other cute Squshies I just sent out!

So, the short of it is I am sending you 2 Envelopes, one big one stuffed full of goodies and one small one with the extra goodies! So hope you enjoy!

btw promised picture of my final set!

Some cute Christmas trees!

marytoddliz 09-28-2012 08:34 PM

oh brother, boy did I mess up on that red and white block! How come you never notice what you did wrong until after it is in the mail? I will make a new one!

kensington 09-28-2012 09:58 PM

I went to Hancock today to pick up some Batiks for the back of my sons quilt, and I found some "Christmas Cookies" fabric that would make a great "Jar Block". I bought a bit just in case... LOL. I've already made all six of my sets, so I'll just keep it in case I need to "fill in" once the blocks are swapped and I start putting my top together. They had peppermint candy fabric, candy cane fabric, another cookie fabric... Good luck to anyone who decides to make those for the swap... and who wants to send me one just cuz it was my idea. (hint, hint).

marytoddliz 09-28-2012 10:52 PM

LOL
I found some cute Gingerbreadmen in my stash! I can't believe I didn't find them in time to make a block. But you just never know where they might turn up!

I just now found out about a "Hobby Lobby" close to where I live... OK it is slightly less than an hour away, but heck everything is about a half hour away! Any way does any one know about this store? does it have cool Quilting stuff? If I am going to drive an hour it better be worth my while!

jaba 09-29-2012 05:21 AM

Maryt you won't care, just go and enjoy the drive, if they have cool stuff that's a bonus, besides you know you're going to. Yesterday I bit the bullet, just because of you....Went to threadart and ordered stabilizer, 'cause it was on sale buy 1 get 1 - 1/2 price so I'm going to have 200 yards of it. Then no thread so ordered the 180 rolls, every color I'll ever need probably. Now the kicker, if I can't figure it out and get it done I'm putting in a request right now. I'll send you stuff and you and your little machine can just hum along and make it all for me. How does that sound?? Or the other option is I'm going to have alot of stuff to fill those SP boxes with for those that know how to use their embroidery machines.

rwquilts 09-29-2012 06:26 AM

Cute trees Mary!

kensington 09-29-2012 08:42 AM

We have hobby Lobby... I've bought fabric there. They have some good stuff, but not a lot. It depends on what you are looking for. Try it.

Oh gosh, I love all the blocks ! I'd like to join. Probably 4 sets. Will send a pm Rhonda.

rwquilts 09-29-2012 08:26 PM

LOL quiltpd! Just disregard my pm where I ask how may sets you want to make? I see you've already shared that info. Welcome to our party!!! :)

jaba 09-30-2012 08:55 AM

Ronda just wondering if you have received mine in the mail yet? Just want to make sure they got there

LOL! Perhaps you were typing as I was typing a PM to you regards your blocks arriving? :)

craft phanatic 09-30-2012 09:57 AM

So good to hear of all the new sign ups!! All the blocks are just so cool, aren't they. The jar idea is AWESOME and I sure wish I would have thought of it! Quick question for everyone.....is anyone making any 3.5" squares? I'm working on my third set. They are red work snow flakes but with blue thread instead of red. I'll post a pic when I get the first one done. Have a great Sunday everyone!! Robin

marytoddliz 09-30-2012 10:06 AM

OH, Robin I can't wait to see your blocks. I made some Orange work into black work for halloween. I can't understand why the design called for orange when the black just Popped!

But I change the color a lot that to me is part of the fun. But I really do love Red work. I am making a Redwork table cover for my sister for christmas and it is turning out so cute.

I think I am going to put a border of PS blocks around the edge, so I don't forget I am a quilter first! LOL.

Okay, I went shopping Friday, three quilt shops and no candy fabric. Would you believe I did not buy any fabric? Anyway, I found some chocolate candies at Over The Rainbow that I ordered for my jar of candy. I ordered enough QuilterMomma that the jars will be fat and chock full!:D They claim they can get 11 yards in a flat rate envelope for 5.95 so I had to take advantage of that. So much for "no buy" unless I use right away. Oh well, I managed to not buy for 9 months. It's pretty bad when they ask if they had done something to offend you because you haven't been in for so long. I also saw a quilt pattern for ornament blocks by Thimble Blossoms that I'm going to recreate for this swap. The pattern has 12 different blocks, 4 of which I really really liked. Can I make 4 different ornament blocks (total 20) or do you think they would be too much alike? I have other ideas for blocks too so it will not be a big deal. Sue
