Another thread today mentions a Jacks Chain quilt -- I wasn't familiar with it so I went to google. It uses 9 patches and a triangle to make circles. It is the perfect block for this swap to use.

I agree with Mim - Jack’s chain would be perfect for our swap - lots of decisions to make. Has anyone ever made this pattern?

    Oh.....don't do it, Chris....don't do it.....you're busy......but oh I want to!

Okay. Count me in. The devil made me do it. Okay, that and the thought of doing a Jack's Chain (bucket list pattern for me!)

Besides, I have "worked" with sewbiz before and she's fun

Do I have to say how many packages/baggies I'll be swapping, or can I just keep sewing until I run out of time?

Welcome, Red! No, you don't have to say how many you will be sending. Just send as many sets as you want to swap (or have time for)!

I love Jack's Chain too! But those of you looking at that pattern might want to be aware that it uses 1.5" squares for the 9Ps, rather than 2.5" like we will be making. Those are 3" finished 9Ps and ours are 6" finished. You can adapt to the bigger size 9P, but you'll have to draw up your own center hexagon template, and you will have less "rings" in your quilt, because everything is bigger. If that's ok with you, go for it! I might too... Either that or an Irish Chain.

I found a pattern for Jack's Chain that uses 6" finished 9 -patches if anyone is interested. https://www.quiltdesignnw.com/q140-j...lt-pattern.htm I too love this pattern!

SewBiz - I replied to your PM, but I don't think the entire message went through, so I sent a second PM.

I wrote you back just now. It took three tries to get the whole message to go through, so disregard the first two incomplete PMs. The same issue happened when trying to PM SewBiz earlier, too. It kept cutting off the majority of my message.

My 10 sets of 9 patches are finished, I worked on them during the Virtual Quilting weekend.

We are in Wisconsin Dells right now closing our place here for the season but the weather isn't cooperating, then it's back home to pack up. Hope to hit the road next week for coastal Alabama, now that Gordon has moved on through.

SBG, looks like Gordon is heading your way!

    Cheesehead,
We go to the Dells every year or two. It's almost a requirement when in Wisconsin, isn't it? LOL

Maybe next summer we can meet up and do a sewing weekend

I have three sets done so far. I can't believe you are done already, Cheesehead! Wow!

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and the fabric department had over ordered fabric bolts. They were clearing some out at $1.50 per yard! I bought a bolt of white. That will last me a long time hopefully!

Actually I think we live closer, in a past thread somewhere I thought you mentioned you live in the West Bend area. Our home is SW of you in Hubertus.

I got two more sets made up today. I'm enjoying picking through my 2.5" charms and finding little fussy cut fabrics.Name: IMG_3547.JPG

I agree! In the baggie on the upper right corner block you used a heart fabric that I used to have and I just loved.

Yay Jannie! I hope we get lots more folks....more = more fun

NZ: I love your blocks. I joined, and now won't be back to our cabin where my sewing supplies are for another 2 weeks. Ugh! The suspense is a killer!

I participated in the birthday candy swap last year and have tons of 2.5" candies I can use here. I am a little paranoid about thin white, though, so most likely I'll keep my eyes open at the quilt show in Madison this weekend and pick some up if I see it.

Hopefully more people keep joining. These are fun to make and look great in a scrappy quilt. Hopefully you will have enough interest to do another round of this swap like you did two rounds of the two fabric 9 patches. I am working on mine. I have about 20 customer quilts to quilt by the end of the month and I work full time. Our Quilt Guild Quilt Show is the first weekend in October so they are all waiting for their quilts from me. I got a bit behind because my daughter got married last weekend and I was busy preparing for that this past month. I made all the floral and the decorations and altered dresses, and made some signs, and my husband and I made a wooden arch for the outdoor wedding. But now both my daughters are married and it is done! Ummmm, I wonder when I will sleep this month!
