My room is small so the cutting table is the same as the sewing machine table. I sometimes have to push stuff around but it works for me. Battle Axe, your table is great! Wow!

This is what I use for my cutting table and ironing table. The tables come from Office Depot. I have had them for years so I don't know what they cost now. When I bought mine on sale they were about $39.00 +/-. Best investment ever.

My photos are of the legs so you can see how I raised the tables. The legs are PVC pipe from Home Depot. You decide how high you want your tables and then cut the length you want to make the table higher. I think my legs are 9" on my ironing table and longer on my cutting table. (I'd have to go measure but that is not important to your height.). I also have the caps that fit the PVC pipes so they do not scratch the floor. Without the caps the edge of the pipe is sitting on the floor, instead of sitting flat.

My cutting table is a 6' table. The ironing table is 5'. The length of the table is what you have room for. If I had another foot of room, I would have a 6' table to iron on also. :-).

I purchased "The Big Mat" (53") for the top of my cutting table. (I did have to trim some of the width off to fit my table). I have a lot of room for cutting without clutter!!! :-)

The tables you purchase to use these legs are very important. They have to look like this for the pipes to hold the table up. These tables are brown. If you get the white tables, they will not work because of the configuration of the legs. There is nothing to stop the PVC pipes from sliding even to the floor. Hope that is understandable.

My hubby built a board top for the twin bed I share my sewing room with. It works great and will force me to de clutter the top at least 2x year when my son comes to visit. I got this workbench for Christmas and am using it as an ironing station although I think it would make a nice cutting table too.

My husband and I built a workbench from Harbor Freight. (https://www.harborfreight.com/60-in-...nch-69054.html). We put casters on it. I have seen some people on this list using them for a cutting table. It isn't hard to put together. I would have purchased one for my sewing room except I already had a cutting table. They aren't nearly as expensive as cutting tables made by the sewing cabinet people. Just a thought

Like others, I used Ikea storage cubes. These are Expedits. Added legs from Ikea and a formica top to attach all together. Hindsight, I wish I had made the frame for the bottom and put them on rollers. While this is quite large (36" high, 36" deep and 80" long), there are 6 cube storage units. It could be made to fit any size using less units. I love it! Unfortunately, for the last several months, it has been a makeshift kitchen with microwave, toaster, hot plate, etc. while our house was/is being remodeled.

I have several of those tables for my machines and just general surface space, Ellen. I bought them years ago at a used furniture outlet for a song. They pretty much last forever so I just keep using them.

I am using an old side board table from the 40’s, with 2 drawers and 2 side cabinets, with a 36” x 72” of plywood attached to the top. It is cantilevered on one side with a 15” over hang. This gives me more storage space under the top . My storage carts fit perfectly under them.

At the left end under the top I have or will have installed a pull out drawer. And of course there is more storage under the table in the front.

I had thought about putting casters on my cutting/sewing table but that would make it to tall.
Instead of casters I found furniture moving sliders for wood or hard surfaces to place permanently under each leg. The weight of the cabinet keeps them secure. I got over sized 3” circles so that there would be more surface area for the movement of the table across a floor.

I do not have to move it very often, how often does company come, I will find out soon. We just moved and this is the 2nd bedroom/my sewing/craft room.

I got mine at the Ace hardware, their brand . I am sure other home improvement stores have them.

Make sure that you get the ones that are either for carpet, they have hard plastic on the bottom or ones for wood or laminate floors they are foam on top and felt on the bottom.

These are the ones at Lowes they are the same , less expensive than at the Ace but I had a coupon and gift card for Ace.

Yes this is my sewing /ironing table, but since I have just moved I am still putting stuff away. Messy, messy but will post later when room is finished.

One more tip for those that are moving or changing arrangement of sewing /craft space. Take photos of before especially if you want to duplicate something . Like storage of fabric or things placed on shelves.

I was a least smart enough to label boxes with the shelf number for my fabric and placed flat fabric between stacks to separate shelves if I had more than one shelf in a box which I did.

Now to install the overhead lighting . Will be using a flexible track lite.
