WMUTeach and Julienm1: That gnome has been in my sewing room way too many times for the past 4 months.

WMUTeach: I totally understand being overwhelmed by too many projects. I am really trying to concentrate on finishing a top and only working on one leader/ender project at a time. I get carried away at times when I see all of the unfinished projects and add another to my sewing pile.

Last night, I was pleased I could see a little more area on my cutting table. I have 9 slips of paper in a fabric basket and when I need a sewing diversion, I pull one of them and work 10-15 minutes on the topic. This has helped me get through a shoebox tub of triangle shaped fabric that needed to be cut to accurate sizes along with trimming fabric for split rectangles. I’m still working on emptying a box of squares that need to be organized and possibly trimmed to a size I use. Some other topics included are going through Christmas fabric and boxes with scraps just thrown in that need to be sorted, possibly trimmed, and put away.

Nice idea! I usually put things on my "Memos" list on my phone, but it's pretty easy to ignore that. (Am I bad?) When my kids were little we did what we called, "the blitz!" We got some good, dance music on, turned on a timer for 15 minutes, then raced around the house picking up things and doing small, cleaning chores. When the timer went off, we froze. That was it, no more cleaning for the day. We did continue to dance though.

tropit: I like the idea of ‘the blitz’! I can’t claim the idea of choosing a task and working on it for 15 minutes. I go through stages of using my slips of paper or just writing lists on my whiteboard. For now, the slips are working. Lol!

Spent 2 hours today cleaning out my fabric. It was hard...but many pieces where actually 20 years old...and not that good to begin with!

Love your idea of "The Blitz". Used to do that with my kids..playing oldies music, and singing loud!

I have been doing more organizing than sewing lately. I am going through the second of the two paper grocery bags of nice quilting cotton that was set aside for me by some of the church quilters. The fabric was from a donation. The church gals put a lot of fat quarters in the bags so I have been giving them a quick ironing and refolding them. There were some fat eighths also along with fabric that I’m cutting up into 10” and 5” squares, 5” by 10” rectangles, and mainly 2.5” and 1.5” strips. It’s been fun going through the fabric but I will be glad when it’s done. I am determined not to set the fabric aside to go through later and I want it put away! Failing to take care of some donations over the years is the reason I have too many big tubs of scraps. Lol!

Lots of good stuff going on everyone!

I have a report on my tickler file and it's good! After 1 whole month of using it, I have not forgotten to do anything important, nor missed a deadline and my desktop is still clear, so I actually have work space there. My long term project folders are also doing an awesome job of keeping me straight--Yay! I can't recommend a tickler file system enough.

Don't know that I'm necessarily getting more done, than before, but I do know that I feel less stressed about remembering what needs to be done in any given day and that's a major plus!

Stay well everyone and keep organizing.
Rob

Rob: I’m so glad your tickler file is working for you. 👏👏👏

Rob that's great, that is the secret, finding what works for you:) I am happy to report I am staying on track & working my way through the UFO pile.

Awesome, Rob! Good for you!

How is it that my new house already has a junk drawer that is out of hand so soon? That is what I tackled today.... All neat and tidy again and hubbie's stuff in his workshop where it should be. I'd like to get rid of having a junk drawer entirely but.....lol......gotta have one...
