Barn day yesterday so didn't get rid of anything. Today I managed to get rid of a 3 panel wood framed rice paper screen by foisting it off on a neighbor! YAY! Maybe I'll look for something else to get rid of today since I didn't get rid of anything yesterday!

My yard sale pile is huge and out of control. I'm ready to do this even though i really dislike yard sales. I told my husband that whatever doesn't sell, back up the truck & trailer and we are hauling it to Goodwill immediately. I don't have the energy or time to have multiple yard sales between now and the summer before we move but I'm willing to give it one good round. Then...that's it. I'm done...

Sounds like a plan, Teen! I’m happy to report that even though I didn’t find anything to rehome/donate yesterday, I did manage to get rid of a bunch of old jewelrymaking/metalsmithing catalogs- don’t know why I kept them all these years, all companies involved list everything on the internet nowadays....freed up some room on my desktop bookshelf at any rate and they were recyclable! Now to find something to get rid of today...
Meanwhile I hope everyone on the east coast is staying safe and out of the storm, it’s a doozy, Here in VA there were times the wind was blowing so hard yesterday that the 2nd floor of my house was actually swaying- YIKES! And from what I understand we just got a small bit of this monster. Hoping the best for folks along the Mid-Atlantic and New Enlgnd coasts.

Rob: That would be super scary to have your upstairs swaying some. I also hope everyone can find a safe place to wait out the storm.
Teen: It sounds like you have a great plan for after your garage sale.
I decided it was time to start sorting and putting away squares that were tossed randomly in a sweater-sized tub and also to cut small donated pieces of fabric stuffed in a sandwich-sized bag. I am quickly ironing and measuring the squares/fabric and if they are not a size I use, I am cutting them down with a ruler or my die cutting machine.
I have been watching/listening to some Craftsy shows today while working on the above projects. I have also been webbing a quilt top.
A funny little story: I was looking for a new ruler that I had purchased last week from my LQS. I wanted to do the block of the month but couldn’t find the ruler anywhere. I did, however, get some unexpected cleaning done while looking for it.
. Finally, I decided to look in 2 more places. Of course, it was in the second place and right where it should have been-in the drawer with my other speciality rulers! Lol!

Until I can see the horizontal surfaces in my office, studios, bedroom, living room, dining room, etc. and there is a designated place for everything that I decide to keep LOL!
That will probably take several years at this rate, but at least it's a start. I still can't figure out how 2 people who don't like to shop have managed to accumulate so much stuff...
Yesterday and today I got rid of a lot of excess paperwork and more magazines-- paperwork got shredded and magazines went to the recycle bin. Tomorrow is a barn day, so may not get anything gone again until Tues. I'm on a roll...

You guys are rockin it!! While going through our 40ft container in the back 40, I stumbled upon a collection of the American Rifleman magazine...from 1954 - 1994. Over 450 magazines. Many still in the plastic. OMGoodness.... These were inherited from a neighbor years ago.....So, I did some research and posted them for sale on various sites including my DH's club. Fingers crossed that these sell.... I am pleased to share that the contents in this container are now, either boxed up, taped and labeled to move, or transferred to the yard sale pile. Love it! I was not looking forward to going through that thing after 30 years of accumulating and "storing"... Phew!
Rob....what is barn day? What do you do on barn day? And, what do you keep in the barn? I've read this from you before but now my curiosity has peaked. Lol!!

Teen- barn day = going to the barn where we keep our horses. 16 years ago when we started keeping our horses there the drive took 35 to 40 minutes, but with all the development that’s happened over the years it now takes 45 minutes to an hour to get there. By the time we get there, bring the horses up to the barn, groom, tack up, ride, clean stalls, cool horses, feed horses, take them back to their paddocks, and drive home, it’s pretty much an all day thing.
