Glad to hear you got home safely, Conchalea! It must have been pretty scary riding in that wind. We had a lot of wind yesterday and some today, but not like what y’all are describing.

Bought one more plastic drawer unit with wheels and Two more of those desk top ones today on the way back from the barn. Tonight or tomorrow I’m going to finish organizing my sewing studio/office and will look for some more things to get rid of as well.

Conchalea: I’m glad you got home safely. It sounds like you are making progress with decluttering. I go through spurts and I know it feels good to get even a little done.

Battle Axe: I’m sorry you had bad winds. Rob has very good suggestions for you on how to start the insurance process. We had bad winds yesterday and I know at least one small branch came down but no house damage that I know about anyway.

Rob & Retired, thanks for the well-wishes. The wind didn’t pick up until after the escorted benefit ride, at least. We had over 50 motorcycles in the group, many ridden by women. It was a successful day for the local Breast Cancer Resource Center.

My decluttering continues. I’ve attacked several hidden piles & been able to trash or recycle most parts of them. I even took down a picture I painted (poorly) several years ago & replaced it with the single block wall hanging I completed recently. My quilts turn out as I envision, while my painting don’t. I’m just not a painter, I guess. So more stuff out of my house!

This is the wall hanging mounted in place of the painting.

Oh, I like that, Conchalea!

I find that I am struggling with throwing things out. I've got weird odds and ends in my studio like the enormously long piece of elastic off of a fitted sheet with a bit of ruffly fabric still attached that I look at and think, "that's an interesting texture, maybe I can use it somehow" so it never gets thrown away. Surely I could just create a ruffled piece of fabric if I ever need one....

I read this advice in a book and it helps me as I sort through things: Hold it & ask yourself “if I get rid of this & I need it, will it be hard to get another ?”

Conchalea: I love that wallhanging! I am thinking of putting my BOM applique blocks into wallhangings instead of making them into a quilt. I have white walls in my main living areas and it's time to add some pop of colors around.

Rob: I am chuckling over your elastic with ruffled fabric on it. I probably have some of that laying around in boxes that were from my DMIL.

tranum: I need to remember the advice you read in that book. Thanks for sharing.

There won't be any organizing for a few more days for me. I'm too tired after subbing and I have 2 more full days this week.

tranum: I just counted my empty plastic shoe boxes and I think there are 23 of them. Hmmm! Do I really need to keep that many? (Chuckling to myself.) I do plan to organize a few closets and will probably use some of them and then I can say goodbye to those extras.

After so long the elastic deteriorates...don't ask me how i know!

Empty shoe boxes...sounds like a good thing.

Made it to work this morning..one lane paths on my country roads. Still unplowed on my return home. Lots of ice to skate over as one goes down a hill. Supposed to be school in the morning but can't imagine a bus on these...and yes it's a bus route and no alternate routes.

Oksew--sounds treacherous! Pleeease be careful.

Rob--throw.it.out! Goodness, how cheap is elastic? Consider it respiratory therapy to give your space room to breathe. You will thank yourself, trust me.

As February comes to a close, my progress on the Jan/Feb sewing room tidy list continues slowly but surely. It has taken a backseat to getting the master bedroom decluttered, cleaned, paint samples chosen (still deciding) , and then my sister from Tx announced she was coming. She stays at my dad's house, but I'm his cleaning lady , so I've been trying to keep up two houses. But I am determined to get my sewing room in shape so she (a quilter) can come play with my machine.

I really enjoy checking in here on all of your progress. We are still dealing with a kitchen reno from you know where so the chaos in our small living space continues. Knitting and small handwork projects are keeping me somewhat sane.

Oh and I love those plastic drawers for organizing!
