Butterflyblue, it seems that you are trying to do so much all at the same time: reducing stash, organizing what is scattered in different storage containers, cleaning out books and clearing away saved on-line patterns and using what is at hand and not shopping for more. Take a breath and be kind to yourself. Reserve a bit of time to enjoy your fabric and love of quilting. Making those Christmas stocking could well be a moment of refreshing and yes, indeed you used stash rather than buying more fabric. Three cheers for you.

From your photo it looks like you are experiencing some success! Your space is so neat and tidy. Go make something using stash and a pattern that you have saved. A goofy discovery I found with my saved on-line patterns that makes it easy to hit the delete button is......I found I would save a pattern because I liked the colors but the pattern is too putsy or difficult or time consuming or a repeat of another pattern from another source. Delete.

Smile and revel in your success a little bit at a time. It took time to collect your stash and it may well take some time to clear away what you determine is a burden not a joy. No need to ask how I know. I have walked or should I say am walking the journey too.

LOL no great tip today but a pat on my back and a reminder to others, over the years on the boards here I have collected quite a lot of personal messages, both incoming and outgoing, and today I cleared off several years worth. I found (because I needed to find it) there is a page by page delete option, a delete all, and you can do individual picking and choosing. It was both nice and sad to see familiar names that are no longer posting.

I should go on to my "official" email and clear out all the amazon notices and such. Today is sewing group day but that doesn't start for hours yet.

I have measured and marked leftover batting pieces in the past. It is a wonderful timesaver and I dont have to open every piece when looking for the correct size. If i could just train myself to do it every time I have a leftover piece!!!

Yes, Yes, Yes! A good time saver! I don't do this all the time or with batting scraps, but when I put a piece of batting scrape aside to use for later that is at least big enough for a baby quilt, I will pin a post-it note with the measurement of that piece! Thanks for the reminder and sharing a good organizational method for our batting.

Ha ha, yes, I tend to want to do everything or nothing. Right now is everything. Thanks for the reminders.

Yeah I don't post because I can't post pictures here. This forum was way better and easier to use back in the day. Its say 5mb which my pictures are under but still says they are too large. Never have issues posting on Facebook sadly this at one point in time was my absolute favorite forum

I go one step further and make a list of sizes on a spreadsheet. I can go to the spreadsheet and see if I have anything the size needed. I also store batting pieces in order by size so it’s easier to locate them once I’ve checked my spread sheet. The time spent doing this saves me time later.

I am getting pretty low on scraps of batting since I have have pieced so many strips recently. What a sad situation. Tee Hee- Hee. At this point, it is all about getting fabric out of my way and reduced enough to fit into my closet, under the sewing table in bins and in my repurposed china cabinet. Good progress this year, but of course more to go. 2026 is coming!
