Oh yeah, and I'm coming on Thursday. Can't remember if I said that before.

so far I have blackberries, sour skittles and chocolate chip cookies to bring

2 Doods 06-01-2011 08:25 PM

I 'm bringing a McCalls Quilting magazine with a SPECIAL someone in it  Maybe she will autograph it??

Have the salad made and veggies cut up but didn't get any dip. I'll have to make a stop along the way. I am leaving as soon as I get off work tomorrow. I am leving the diet home! No bad calories this weekend

quiltingnonie 06-01-2011 08:28 PM

Ohhhh, I WISH I were leaving tomorrow! You ladies all drive extra safe, and will see you all Saturday morning.

stitchy65 06-01-2011 10:48 PM

I am not bringing any food along. I've decided to wait until I get there to see what might be needed and make a run to Safeway. Hope that's ok. I'm all packed except for toiletries but those will all get packed as I use them in the morning. See you all at the beach!!

Wine Woman 06-02-2011 05:52 AM

Today is the day! It's finally here! :-D :-D Are we ready? I'm sure some of us are waiting by the front door! I can leave earlier - no work for me today! I'll see everyone by three-that is check in time right? Safe travels everyone.

The name of the restaurant is Beach Dogs Cafe. The food was excellent! The other recommendation was for sourdough bread at a local bakery.

It was great to get to know everyone! Thank you, Karen for all your work arranging it! And thank you to the ladies who kept the dishwasher running!

UglyCook 06-05-2011 06:20 PM

I made it home in only 7.5 hours. After the cheese factory, two quilt shops sucked me in but I'm finally home.

What a fantastic time. I drove down there knowing none of you and came back with 15 new friends.

Wine Woman 06-05-2011 06:24 PM

Oh my-my my my! I haven't laughed so much and talked so much and ate so much as I did this last weekend! What a wonderful group of women. I sure hope pictures will be posted of the projects that were accomplished this weekend. Candlequilter and ugly cook (and a few others) seemed to like the cooler climate downstairs and just wait you will see why. Hopefully someone will post their beautiful creations!!

Those of the upstairs group were just as creative! Alot more noise of course and serious eating taking place but lots of beautiful work being done too. Congratulations to you who were able to make your wallet swell at the casino and a special thanks to those who hung with me and experienced the shrinkage! It was all for fun!

Thank you ladies for such a wonderful weekend it was soooo much fun!! You are so special, each one in their own way. I'm so happy to have the opportunity to get to know all of you better. Until next time we can gather together . . .

Will post pics a little later if I'm still awake-I can feel the lack of sleep now that I'm back home!

I had a wonderful time and feel very renewed! Thanks so much to Sandy for the name tags and the game! Thanks to Laurie for teaching me a new skill in quilting! I'm going to have to put it to use and make a quilt now! Like all of you, I appreciate all those who brought yummy food and kept the kitchen running! I feel bad about not being able to help with the final clean up but I know you all did a wonderful job! My GD looked beautiful in her dress!

Who's taking on organizing the next one? :)

Anna Renee on her big day!

cbridges22 06-05-2011 08:09 PM

My she is beautiful, just like her grandmother.

quiltingnonie 06-05-2011 08:46 PM

Oh gosh, Karen, Anna is so precious!

UglyCook 06-05-2011 08:48 PM

Awwww, Karen, she's so sweet!

UglyCook 06-05-2011 08:56 PM

I re-did the sailboat block so I'd remember how and I posted it here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-128366-1.htm#3414514

Feathers 06-06-2011 04:55 AM

Karen, baby Anna Renee is darling.

Thanks Karen for organizing the week end. I had such a great time and loved getting to know some of you new quilters to the group and getting to know the rest of you BETTER. Isn't it amazing that 18 strangers can come together for a "slumber party" and leave 3 days later feeling like we've just spent a great time with FAMILY. You are all special, fun, caring and I loved you all. I don't think I've laughed so much, ever! After being up all night hugging all the Chinook Winds slots, I was pretty wasted but fortunately, Sharon drove home while I snored! Got home, sat down on the couch to tell DH about the whole week end and fell asleep in mid sentence. At 4 this AM when I woke up he was sleeping in his chair and wasn't too excited about hearing the tales of the week end so he went to bed. I'll regale him with a blow by blow of the week end events when he gets up.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful food, company, sharing and caring.
Sandy aka Feathers

quiltingnonie 06-06-2011 05:38 AM

Feathers, it was great to visit with you again, and really enjoyed Sharon. Tell her to GET on this board! I think she has the makings of a great quiltmaker. :-)

candlequilter 06-06-2011 10:53 AM

Well, I am alive today! Yesterday that was questionable  . Not as young as I use to be so those late nighters are much harder to re-coop from. I had an absolutely wonderful time this weekend with all of you. I too have never laughed so hard or so much in a long time. The food was great - thank you Feathers and Sharon for bringing the feast on Thursday. Everyone was excellant cooks with casseroles, lasagna, cookies, salads, breads and goodies. Oh, and I can't forget the wonderful biscuits and gravy that Cjbridges made for all of us on Saturday morning (yummmmm). I hate to get on the scales this morning to see what kind of damages I did. Thank you Karen for organizing the whole thing. It was awesome! Feathers thank you for the games and all the activities that you came up with. We all know so much more about each other now. I have never walked into a group not knowing anyone and made so many new friends so quickly and felt at home at the same time. Wine Woman thank you so very much for educating me about wine. My daughter absolutely loved the Syrah as we had some with our dinner last night. Wine Woman thank you to for sharing your double pointed pins with me and showing me how well they work. I will be looking for them today. Cjbridges what can I say about you but God threw away the mold after he made you. You are one crazy lady that is so fun to be around even when we are working on the projects, but break times were a hoot. I will definitely be looking for "smiley quilts"
from you. Ugly Cook I am so glad that you are so close by and that I will get a chance to see you often (I hope) because then I wouldn't feel like this last weekend was just a dream. You will be my prove that I really did meet some totally awesome people this weekend, and you are just one of about 15 of them.

Ladies I can honestly say that for my first retreat ever - y'all made it very memoriable and wonderful. And if you are all serious about coming to my house in October I would love to have all of you. Ugly Cook said that she would help me organize it too. So just let us know.

Many many thanks and hugs,
Sherryl

OH My what a beautiful baby. It would have been hard for me to pull myself away from her for even a minute letalone a weekend.

Thank you Karen so very much for all of your hard work organizing this retreat. It was great.

Thanks,
Sherryl

UglyCook 06-06-2011 11:04 AM

Yep, Sherryl, I'm on the October planning team.

Let's get together soon!

UglyCook 06-06-2011 11:14 AM

Here's a good video of how to do the Y seams, and she does it even better without removing the fabric from the machine

http://sew-whats-new.com/video/video...sg_share_video

quilttiludrop 06-06-2011 01:30 PM

I'd like to offer my house for "day camp". (Just a one day get-together). I have room at my dining table for 4 sewing machines and room for 4 more hand sewers on the sofa. I don't have a date in mind yet. I'll be thinking about it.
