She also has long arm services very reasonable.

Sew Cornie- I visited two quilt stores yesterday and today and thought of you. In Canby, the very nice quilt store had plaids on clearance. If you buy one yard you get 40% off. But the best was today. In West Linn, Holy Hill Quilt Store is a gallery of beautiful quilts, fabric and a lot of fun things. This store is so much fun. Love the way its laid out and all the displays are very nice. Everytime I go its all rearranged - so its like my first time all over again! Everyone must go to experience the beauty of so many things. Sew Cornie they have sooooo many plaids! You have got to go! Don't forget that down the hall is another part of the store with brights and children fabrics.

Everyone may have already visited the stores or know about them but just had to share if not. It's worth the trip they are all unique-but make sure you have extra time to spend in Holly Hill because you will need it.

I'll have to grab Sharon and go quilt shop creeping one of these days SOON. Thanks for the info.

Feathers let me know and maybe I can join you two for some lunch!

Oh Cindy you have got to go! They have started their outside sales. I got fabric for $3.00 and $4.00 a yard today. Name brand too! They have 40% off coupons all the time too!

sew cornie 06-14-2011 08:32 PM

Wine Woman, thanks for the info on the shops. The Gaston one would be a shorter drive. I hadn't heard of it but will have to check it out. I've known of Holly Hill but haven't ventured out that far yet. Today I finally sewed my first stitch since coming home from the retreat. Came home last week to get a kiddo's birthday party organized and ready - lots of fun picnicking and fishing on Sunday, even with the rain! Now I have an IRR round finish for the mail tomorrow and a teacher gift to whip out before Thursday, the last day of school. Eeeek! Looks like I have a couple of late nights ahead.

I order bolts of fabric from them because they only charge $10 for shipping and they give you 40% off on bolts. Alot cheaper than gas to drive down there.

Oh, I just looked up a cool way to make my own Hunters Star templates online. It is really easy to do and I am going to make mine so that the whole block is 24". That way I will only have to do 3 across and 3 down with a border.

Thanks,

Lunch? Shopping? Did someone say lunch and shopping? I am on a 4 day week for the summer so if anyone wants to go "play" on a Friday, let me know. I would love to go too!

Winewoman-did you get to the shop in Wilsonville? Is it still there? There is also one in down town Lake Oswego. I haven't been there in years. Guess I need to get off this hill and down to civilization more often. LOL

KarenBarnes 06-15-2011 05:54 AM

I love the friendships that have been made through our retreat! It's fun to watch the banter!

Pine Needle in LO is another nice store! I missed their sale last week. I don't go in that direction very often. Speckled Hen was in Wilsonville but has moved. I haven't visited her new store yet. I seldom don't buy in quilt stores so I just stop to admire everything. There has to be a reason why I'm in the area! I was at the new Wilsonville Fred's the other day so I ventured into Canby-but after talking to the owner of the Canby Store she told me kinda where it was at so that has to be another day adventure!!

There is suppose to be a quilt show in Sandy this weekend does anyone know anything about it?

Wine Woman 06-15-2011 07:12 AM

This is all I found for Sandy if anyone knows different I would like to know!

June 24-25
Sandy Historical Society Inc/s 13th Annual Quilt Show, Sandy High School, 17100 Bluff Road, Sandy, OR, Fri-Sat 10-5, Sun 12-4 $5 Adults, $3.50 Srs and under 12

Colbaltjars62 06-15-2011 07:23 AM

Good Morning Ladies,
I am heading up to the quilt shop up in Oregon city (beaver creek?) to pick up the Asian panels for 2 Doods. If anyone else wants some let me know before noon today. (been working nights and my sleep habits are out of whack.
If you email me on my aol addy I will check it on my phone before I buy any. They are $10.00 per 2 panel cut $5.00 if you only want 1 panel. Did that make sense?
You can also call me if you like.
Going to go get a couple hours sleep.
TA TA for now....

Faith :XD:

quiltingnonie 06-15-2011 09:51 AM

Faith, what is the name of the shop near Beaver Creek? I thought that had closed last year. While you're in that neck of the woods, you should swing by Holy Hill in West Linn. Wine Woman gives it a 3 thumbs up

Sheesh! I need to keep up! I lived in Wilsonville for 14 years. They have a new Freddy's? Where did The Speckled Hen move to? I ordered some upgrades for my Grace frame so I don't dare do more fabric right now-nope I better not

How are the plans for the next retreat coming along Candlequilter and Ugly cook?Have ya'll come up with dates? If I could be so bold to suggest the first legal Friday I can get off is Nov.4th but I could probably have food poisoning any time.

LOL!!!!! Those two things go together so you're really asking for it! :)

Colbaltjars62 06-15-2011 03:17 PM

LOL, Cindy do you feel your tummy churning?

Just got back from the Quilt shop in Beaver Creek called "Let's Quilt". Laurie if that's the one you were talking about it's still open... At least my Visa will confirm that......
Beware when you ask a worker in there for help with the Asian panels. She will find more than you ever imagined. She was most helpful... In a good way.

Alice I am going to let you pick through the panels you want because there were more than the 4 we had in the beginning..
I, uh, well, sorta bought a few others that we didn't have.... :|
I couldn't decide on a few so I just went ahead and bought them..... Karen you can take a look too since you have some already. Anyone else who would like to take a look can PM or email me.

Let me know when you want to meet at Helvacia tavern to get them. Since you have already paid for them, hubby will think they are a gift? LOL Yeah honey it was a gift.... My hubby says this Friday is good for us if you would like to meet then. He must be having withdrawls from the burgers there..lol
Let me know what's good for you..

I didn't get to West Linn today to get to that quilt shop. Traffic was awful and I just wanted to get home. Maybe next time.

See Ya'll soon..
Faith :XD:

UglyCook 06-15-2011 03:24 PM

You are all so much fun! I really miss you.

Colbaltjars62 06-15-2011 03:28 PM

Missing you too Julie!!!!

quiltingnonie 06-15-2011 03:29 PM

Faith:
Glad the shop was open - guess I was thinking of another place.

So inquiring minds want to know: what are you gals making with Asian panels?

OMG...the Helvacia Tavern! Brings back some memories from when we lived in Banks WAYYYYY back in 1979. They had the best burgers in the county back then, too!

Colbaltjars62 06-15-2011 03:40 PM

Laurie,
We are making wall hangings with them. Put them together as a sandwich and stitching them with gold thread where the panel has gold lines.
Karen finished hers and it looked AWESOME!!!!!

Come on out and join us Laurie!

Faith~DH works that day (poor thing  ) I try not to rub in the fact that I have Fridays off for the next few months. I'll PM you with plans.

I am looking forward to the Asian panel for a wall hanging. I can give something like that to DS and DIL and the $#@* cat won't be chewing it up. That cat has ruined soooo many things that they own. I am not giving them a quilt until the cat is gone.

stitchy65 06-15-2011 07:02 PM

You all crack me up! I would love to be part of the asian wall hanging club but I simply cannot afford it. Oh well, I have plenty of other projects to keep me busy.

My calendar is pretty much wide open except for the second half of August - I think I am going to mozey to Virginia for 10 to 14 days then. But any other time than that is just fine with me. Do you all want come up in September, October or November? Any time would be fine. Throw out some dates that we can pass around and see what works best for the majority. Oh I am getting excited just thinking about it. Here are the fabric stores nearby: JoAnn's 2 1/2 miles, Material Girls 3 miles, Pacific Fabrics 9 miles, Heirloom Quilts 10 miles, Kingston Quilt Shop 15 miles and last but not least Quilted Straits 18 miles.

Thanks for asking,
Sherryl

Sherryl - I just LOVE that area up there - neat towns and fun shops to visit

But HOW big is your house? And do you have raccoons???

cbridges22 06-16-2011 08:25 AM

If those dates work so Cindy doesn't have to actually catch a bug, I'd say go for it! :)

Faith, I'm open to more panels...:)

quiltingnonie 06-16-2011 09:44 AM

That would be my kid's b-day weekend. (One is Nov 3rd, the other Nov 7th) But we'll see.......
(I truly understand how hard it is to accomodate everyone's life's schedules--at least I don't have to worry about work. RETIRING OCTOBER 1st. Woooohooo!)

sew cornie 06-16-2011 10:38 AM

I don't know about a Fall retreat for me. School will be back in, Cub Scouts in full swing, etc. I'll have to wait and see. Any problem with a late commitment?

Sherryl, I have hopes to complete a top for a Xmas gift and would love to have you quilt it for me. If I get to come, I could bring it to you in person. :-D Save the postage, right?? One question . . . do you have cats?

I think there is a Dairy Queen in Silverdale, so we could surely have Blizzards.

YUM! I'm there! Love that kind! Just not the ones that trap me on my mountain.

Colbaltjars62 06-16-2011 01:26 PM

Yep, I could make it in Nov. But Gee, that seems so far away!!!!
Blizzard sounds good too. ;)
Also, the asian panels are not costly at all. $5.00 will get you a single and $10.00 will get you 2x of the same but I bought numerous ones so you could get one of one kind and one of another. That is if you like hand work.
Karen if your not busy tomorrow after your workout give me a call and we can get together with the panels.

See ya,
Faith

My house is 5,000 square feet so I have plenty of room. I have 2 king, 2 queen, 1 full size bed and many open floor areas where we can put air mattresses or whatever. However wants to try quilting on the longarm is welcome to.

No raccoons but 2 boxers and 3 cats.

The more the merrier!

Yes, but they are not allowed in the quilting room upstairs.

I'm in, especially if the Blizzards are involved! :)

Faith, I'm booked for most of the day tomorrow! I'll call or text if I get done early. I've got a lunch and need to go to DMV for a license renewal. :( Maybe the picture will be better this time!
