Well, sadly I think I'm out. In the battle of the household hobbies I think my DH is going to win. He's been rebuilding an old Norton Commando motorcycle for the past several years and he's one rearview mirror away from finishing. He's chomping at the bit to get it licensed and registered. He also has to take a riding course to get his license up to date... If I'd worked on a project for two years and was this close I'd be so excited to get it done too. So I guess it's his turn this time around.. our little bit of extra $$ will go toward that.

Hopefully the next trip ya'll take I'll be able to go. It really does sound like so much fun! I'm very sad to miss out. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back. Maybe someone will take some pictures too... =)

Maybe we can have a work day one afternoon at someone's house locally for those of us who can't make it?

Cheers~
Jenn

I'm sad that you can't make it but we all understand funding WIP's! Yes we'll take pictures! Get togethers sound fun as well! I've got a decent amount of space if anyone wants to do this!

KarenBarnes 04-17-2011 06:32 PM

me too!

KarenBarnes 04-17-2011 07:37 PM

Check in is 3 or later! I know I'll probably be there that afternoon! Times like this when I'm grateful that the hubby is the funding for quilting passion! I even told him the date had changed to a day earlier and he said go for it! Yay!

If someone wants to ride with me, I'm now going on Thursday and leaving around 8 on Sunday morning. I'm in Beaverton!

Hi Karen:
Thank you for getting the house for Thursday night as welll as for the rest of the week end. I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you. I'll be there Thursday with bells on my toes ho! ho!

When we go to the beach for my quilt group retreat I've cooked a turkey (at home) and have it all sliced and ready to eat so we can make sandwiches or whatever. I would be willing to do a turkey. I'll also bring mayo, cranberries and bread if people would eat it.

I'll PM you for your address and get the check in the mail tomorrow. I'm hoping a couple of my quilt group ladies can come but when I told them about it at our monthly meeting last Wed. they were non-commital because of a number of things...$$, sick husband (alzheimer's patient and she's the caretaker unless she can get her daughter to come down and stay with him).

I'm so excited! Can't wait.

I love Turkey.I am bringing coffee, creamer and Splenda as well as a pound cake.I can also bring mayo, mustard and ketchup, salt and pepper so we have them and everyone doesn't have to bring them.

KarenBarnes 04-18-2011 12:01 PM

I think I've heard volunteers willing to bring condiments and a pound cake (Cbridges), a turkey, etc (Feathers) a chicken lasagna and Costco muffins (quilttiludrop). These were the things I saw mentioned so you don't have to go back through all the pages! If those volunteers want to bring these items, I say this is great! If the rest of us want to volunteer specifics that would probably help the rest so we know what to bring and not to bring! Keep watching the posts!

I've received checks from two and several more have dropped their checks in the mail. If you told me you were coming, I've counted you in the total. If you're dropping out please let me know (I really hope not!) because that changes the price we need to pay!

Yes,I will bring what I said plus coffee. How many are signed up and how many beds are there.Thank you so much for doing this Karen.

sew cornie 04-18-2011 03:37 PM

Fidissimus, so sorry you can't come. We'll miss you this time.

I'll bring a variety of fresh fruits - apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries. Hershey's syrup, sprinkles, and vanilla ice cream too!

Can't wait!

KarenBarnes 04-18-2011 06:21 PM

Thanks cbridges and sew cornie!

I have 14 who have indicated that they want to come! Money collected from wine woman, sew cornie, cobalt jars, 2Doods, and of course, myself. I am going to check the mail in just a bit!

There are 6 bedrooms, spaces for 22 which I'm sure means that king and queen beds are meant to be shared! If you aren't interested in sharing a bed and you have an air mattress, by all means bring it along! I personally don't plan to do a lot of sleeping! :)

cbridges22 04-18-2011 07:21 PM

I have no problems sharing a bed.It would be a pleasure just sleeping with one person instead of a bed hog DH and my dog on top of my feet.

Well Cindy ~ I guess here is the triple "WELL, DUH!" I am soooo looking forward to a weekend away. Told DH he doesn't have to do anything for my birthday. I'll going to the beach with my friends  Cheers!

KarenBarnes 04-19-2011 03:17 PM

In light of the fact that it is Alice's birthday, I will be bringing birthday cake!

I will dig out my 'lesson plans' soon, and will post a 'supply list' on here. (Can you tell I always wanted to be a teacher! )

KarenBarnes 04-19-2011 04:47 PM

CindyB, all will get a bed, we just have to be relaxed and share bedrooms and possibly in the case of the king or queen beds, share those as well. It will all depend on how many actually pay and show up! I sleep with a snoring husband so that really doesn't bother me and I don't sleep in the nude so that shouldn't bother anyone else! :)

KarenBarnes 04-19-2011 04:58 PM

We have another quilter asking to come! Welcome mistiliz from Federal Way! You might want to contact UglyCook since she is coming from your area of the state. Lincoln City is going to so much fun with all the new people!

UglyCook, I haven't heard from Bluelady. Trish B I haven't heard from PattyJo. Are these quilters still planning to come?

Wine Woman 04-19-2011 06:28 PM

Yea Mistiliz is joining us! I'm so excited!! and another yea for cbridges she drinks wine too!! I only have red would someone like to bring white. Thats always nice too!

0tis 04-19-2011 07:20 PM

Ok, What the heck - I have always wanted to go to a retreat and this sounds right up my alley. I am throwing my hat into the ring. Please let me know how much so I can get a check to you asap. I can bring food also. I am driving from Northern Calif. so don't know if anyone else is coming that way - possibly they could ride with me. I am so excited - I haven't been to Lincoln City in a couple of years.

Feathers 04-19-2011 07:51 PM

Hi Cindy:
I'd love to join you. Red Wine sounds fine to me. I'm good for about 1 glass then I start dancing on the tables...I'm a real lightweight.

My new hip is working pretty good but the other hip needs to be replaced...Dr. wanted to do it a couple months ago but I said I wasn't going to have it done until I couldn't walk anymore...I'm getting close to that time! A person gets one thing fixed and 3 others go bad! :x

Can't wait to see you at the beach. I'm hoping my sister will come. She's a wonderful seamstress but has never done much quilting except when we were kids and made crazy patch quilts for our dolls. She's retired now so wants to start. As soon as I know if she'll be able to come, I'll let Karen know and send in the money.

See you all soon.

Feathers 04-19-2011 07:58 PM

Hi Sew Corny:
I'm anxious to see all of you guys, too. I've missed the last couple get-to-gether open houses and the retreat last year so I'm READY.

My surgically replaced hip is doing pretty well but the other one needs to be done so I'm gimping around, can't walk very far and hurt but I'll live and I promise I won't be a drag at the retreat.

Does anyone know how to make a Kaliedescope? I have this gorgeous material for one and I've even made one before but I don't remember how to lay it out and cut the fabric. I anyone knows how will you help me with that at the retreat? Thank you.

KarenBarnes 04-19-2011 08:10 PM

My count at the moment is 16! Your bed will be reserved when I have the money! Otherwise, if someone asks if there is room, I will have them join us! Welcome Otis!

cbridges22 04-19-2011 08:43 PM

I can sleep with anyone any where!I have slept with farm animals so a few snoring folks won't be a problem!

KarenBarnes 04-20-2011 07:01 AM

Anyone interested in doing a swap of some sort or playing a game, etc? At our gatherings we have done fat quarter swaps. We could do an ugly fabric swap or ? Other ideas?

Feathers 04-20-2011 08:19 AM

I like the fat quarter swap. I have some ugly fabric, too.

I have a quilt Bingo game that I made that I can bring. It's fun.

KarenBarnes 04-20-2011 09:29 AM

Your bingo game sounds good Sandy! I think I'll come up with some small prizes!

Anybody want to do a white elephant swap? For those who might not know what this is, it is where you bring something that you don't want or need and do a game of swapping. In this case, we could do quilting or sewing supplies.

I'm not suggesting games to take away from our sewing time, just some quick thing for some laughing exercise since we'll be sitting the whole weekend! :)
