I might be able to come up with an extra 2 or 3 people but it sort of depends on the costs for the house. Several of our quilt group are single or widowed who don't have alot of extra money so before asking them I'd like to have a ball park figure of the cost per night for each person. Thank you.
I'm a snorer too and I don't sleep much so I'd probably do better in a room by myself if possible. I would also take a couch in the living room so as not to disturb others.

Just wondering if the price doesn't go way up after Memorial Day like motels?

For a minimum of 8 people the rate is $55 a night at the bigger house. If there are more people, the rate would go down since we can split the cost even more. There wouldn't be enough separate bedrooms for each to have their own but I think for two nights we could all survive a little sleeplessness! If you could only afford one night, that's okay too! There is parking for 6-10 cars.

At the smaller house, there is less sleeping space but the cost is a little less because I can get a friend discount with the owner. Parking for 4 cars only and max of 12 friendly people.

That is not bad at all. But, unfortunately, I am old and do need some sleep, hehehe

I will be driving down from the Seatac airport area in a mini van and would be happy to carpool. Probably 4 of us with our "stuff" will fit just fine. So if getting there is your only hurdle....

I was in a hurry before church when I posted! My math? Horrible! It would be $40 a night or less for the bigger house depending on how many we have. The price goes down quite a bit for every person we have over 8. There are stairs in the house, parking for 6-8 cars, beach is a couple of blocks and you will need to bring a sleeping bag or linens/blanket and towels. They keep the rate down by not providing these basics! Every other house I looked at for the same size started at $500+ a night!

I still haven't reserved the house but should probably do so this week as I see other dates are filling up! If I have 8 people, or more, I'll do it right away! You can pay me at the retreat. If for some reason you can't come after committing to go, you'll need to find someone else to take your place or send me the money anyway!

I want to be included, Karen. The first weekend in June works for me. The last is out. I have the money for my part what do we want to do about food? How about each of us take a meal to plan?

The retreat is a go for the weekend of June 3,4,5. Check in after 3pm and leave by Sun 12pm. Now the price begins to go down! :) I'll give you the address as soon as I reserve it.

As for meals, last time we kind of did a couple of things. I sponsored a couple of meals and others pitched in for the remaining meals. We can each bring our own (it might get a little cozy in the kitchen if we all want to prepare at the same time!) or we can buddy up and sponsor a dinner. We can each then bring what we might want for rest of the time. :) This is just a suggestion! If someone wants to head this part up, be my guest! It will be fun to meet some new people! This group is changing all the time!

I'm going to be filling out the reservation form today and sending them the money via Paypal. Since the amount each of us needs to pay changes with each new quilter I don't know how to give you a dollar amount for the weekend. At the moment it will be $65 or less. I don't mind using my card for that much money but will be expecting payment at the beach house! You could send me a check and I could refund the difference if you'd like! My husband would probably appreciate this! PM me for address.

Some have asked about the food. Important right? :) Does someone else want to take on figuring out who might host the meals or do we each want to just bring our own?

I'm okay with each bringing her own food. Personally I'd rather bring quick stuff to munch on as I go rather than taking out time to cook or do the dishes. :lol: :lol:

I'm thinking about what project to bring also. For food, I'd be perfectly happy getting up for a sewing break every couple of hours and snacking on yogurt, toast, fruit, etc., but then getting right back to sewing. Don't want to lose momentum you know. :0) I'm glad I get to come and am looking forward to meeting some new friends too.

Well as you know I love to eat. I don't mind fixing something quick and easy. Or better yet ordering in Pizza making a big salad. I can go either way-Its going to so much fun again!

I thought about the same thing, except I'll bring cocoa since I don't drink tea or coffee! It sounds as if we all would just like to bring our own food and snacks to share? I'm good with that! I cooked two meals last time thinking it would be fun (and it was!) but I didn't get any sewing done!

Have you hear about the quilt retreats in Roslyn Washington? They have a house that they rent out next door to the quilt shop and the owners are wonderful.. If anyone is interested that would be fun also.

I am so excited!I will bring coffee since I am a big coffee drinker.I have regular coffee and an assortment of flavored coffee,they are all from Louisiana since that is where I have my coffee shipped from.I suggested to Karen we might split the group in half and half bring breakfast fixings and half bring lunch so we don't end up with 20 bags of coffee,20 of mustard an so on...We could fend for ourselves for dinner.Let me know what your thoughts are and I will be happy to organize this piece of it.I am not talking about cooking just getting all the condiments,bread coffee,milk ,lunch meat ect..

Actually the large Stouffers Chicken Lasagna with white sauce is a really good value and quick and easy. With a salad, it would feed around 16, I think. I can pick it up and put it in a large cooler for transporting. Please let me know if you want one?

I'm good with going on Thursday but I wouldn't be able to go until after I get off work. I work in Sherwood so that would work for me. I'm thinking I'll bring stuff for salads and share with whoever wants some. Of course I'll bring what snacks I want for myself and share that too.

Sounds like there won't be any lack of food, but I wonder if there are a few other necessities that we may need? Karen, do you know what kind of table space there is for us to set up our machines on? Do you think we will need any long folding tables? Do you know if there is room in the house to set any up? Do you think we'll need folding chairs too? I'm able to bring my ironing board, iron, and cutting mat for all to share, but the only table I have is a small square one (smaller than a regular card table). And I probably will come on Friday, not Thursday.

On a completely different note, Craft Warehouse (located on 185th/Walker Rd., Beaverton) is closing. Everything is in liquidation. I was in there a couple of days ago and their bolt fabric was 30% off, flat folds were $6/yd., and fabric bundles were 20% off. I haven't bought anything yet. Seems kind of silly when I have 40% off coupons to Joann's and Fabric Depot to buy liquidation fabric at the current rate. But I'm going to keep an eye on the discounts because their fabric is nice quality. There was still lots to choose from earlier this week.

Karen-I dropped off my check at the post office today. You should have it in a day or so. If I am able to get Friday off, I would like to head down on Thursday. More sewing time.

I just got home from a trip to Craft Warehouse. I didn't know they were closing! It is a lease thing and they are trying to find a new location not too far from where they are. The clerk said Beaverton, Tigard area. Probably not Hillsboro because they are looking for more of a mall setting. They didn't have the fabric I needed but I still brought some home. It will only be on sale until Sunday. Then the clerk didn't know what they would do with the prices. The cashier was in tears when I checked out. Said she loves her job and they are her family. Hope they find a new location soon!

I've not used this house but from the pictures and descriptions there is a 10 foot table in the dining room, LR has about as much as the last house and there is a family room with more space and a counter. I would say we probably don't need to bring any tables. No idea if there is an ironing board there or not but both Faith and I have a travel one if you don't.

Jen, I felt the same about the fabrics. I went to Joann's today and found pretty decent pieces for $1.50 a yard. The fabrics at CW would really have to be calling my name! I did buy some yoyo makers though! Like you I will continue to watch the sale.
