You are right! They were to go around a medallion block, and she even had that almost finished. But, since I didn't have everything to put it all together with the medallion, I just did it "my way." She had included a printout of how it was supposed to be put together, etc.

Thanks, everyone, for looking at my quilt! And, thanks for the compliments, too. I really am very proud of how it turned out. I was so lucky to find the right colors to compliment the blocks. And, believe it or not, I actually only had to buy the sashing fabric. I had the two borders in my stash!! Love my stash!!! I'm on a kick to try to use what I have...IF at all possible!! Getting too old to "keep on buying"..... ;-))
