I'm with amma on this one. A more even stitch would look better but it looks nice as is too. Just a different style.

it looks great. just be sure not to place the Sue's too close to the edge of the background fabric. but good going.

    Good Job
It took me some practicing to get up close and consistent with the stitches... I tried cheating by not stopping and turning the fabric often enough too  LOL You will have it all done in no time :D:D:D
I have a scrap of fabric with rows of these stitches on it.
Above each row is the stitch, the length and width.
Some projects you will want to shorten/widen/lengthen, this gives you a good idea of where to start.

Doesn't look bad to me..You need to sew very slowly coming up to a pivot point. There you may need to slightly lengthen or shorten your stitch so it will end at the pivot point. Then you can stop, needle down lift your presser foot and reposition the block. The same for going around curves, you can lengthen some on straighter areas and shorten on tight curves, depending on outside or inside curves.. With a little practice you will know which you need to do....I love the colors in your block...Overall it's good!!!

Very Great job! Cannot tell if was a first try. Here is my first try. I am having problems stitching through all the layers and my machine stitching being jerky you can see it in the second picture of her head. Any advice?
