QAYG Method
What a great job!! But I've got a question, I've done QAYG also, but my finished strips are only about 1 inch because of the measurements and the fold-over etc etc. I usually use 1/1/4 single layer on the top and 2-1/4 on the back, folded. Yours are much more part of the design and look bigger than that. Could you explain how you managed such a BIG strip inbetween each section. I guess you'd have to start out with bigger strips to begin with and then start sewing further over..... instead of a 1/4 inch seam, maybe 1/2 or 3/4? Then how big are the strips?
I used Cotton Theory when I made this quilt. The long B&W pattern sashings are joined to the large white rows with Cotton Theory seams called "One Way Highway." The B&W sashings are 3 1/2" wide (raw) and the Cotton Theory takes up 1" for either side to make the seam, so the finished B&W sashing is 1 1/2" wide. In Cotton Theory, the joining row -- the B&W sashing -- is folded back on itself to make a decorative part of the seam. I really like the look! I'm a novice and my work doesn't compare to others who have more experience, but I love to practice.
