    Hmmm, interesting. I've only seen that done on antique quilts, the satin ones.

    It's very easy to do. Just cut your fabric about 1 1/2 times what you need and gather both sides to fit the borders next to it.

    Your quilt is very pretty (love, love the bright colors) but like everyone else, I'm captivated by the whole idea of a shirred border. How do you quilt that part? Does it wear out faster than the rest of the quilt?

    I love the look of the shirred border. I have never seen it before.

    My question...do you quilt the shirred border? I have thought about doing one but wasn't sure how they are usually finished....I really like the looks of yours!!!

    FYI - If you are wanting to do a gathered (shirred) length that is longer than one width of fabric, you can just start and stop your gathering at each seam line, so you don't have such a huge expanse to do all in one stretch.
