Once again, you are all being very kind!
Susy, I can pick colors for simple things. As I wrote above, the white and green just glares out at me like a giant flaw. If I were to do it over, I would choose a champagne and cream print for the light squares. I'm nowhere near where I aspire to be re color picking. IMO, the workmanship needs far more work, though.
Quiltincrazy, lol, if it had been horrific, I'd never have posted it. But it is pretty wonky. I'm not being hyper-critical. There are several places where it's just not right.
That rose fabric is easy to match materials to. All of the colors in it can be used: cream, champagne, rose, burgundy, purple, plum, green... the main thing is to choose smaller prints. The rose print is going to dominate whatever it's in, so let it. Don't put another large print with it. My purple binding and the green squares are actually the same print in different colors, a tiny flower print that from a distance looks like suede to me. The red backing is marbled.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with yours!

And thanks to the new commenters! I guess the secret of hiding flawed work is to use good fabric. Then everyone notices the fabric and no one looks too closely at the mistakes.
