I cannot add anything new to the OHHHHHHHHSSS and AHHHHHHHHS that have been written before me. Your work is pure inspiration and thank you so much for sharing. I think I see a trip to Spokane comine in October...where do they have this quilt show in Spokane? I used to live in the Dishman/Veradale area ...East end almost to the Idaho border.

There is definitely some beautiful quilting on that blue star quilt. Your eye for the lines is wonderful.

Best of luck-

Questions, questions, questions!!

First, THANK YOU all for your nice comments! One of the reasons for the challenge was to show how we all interpret a quilt differently. I can guarantee that there will be no two quilts alike. This is a great way to show how the personality of a quilt top changes with the addition of the quilting.

tlrnhi: NO! That's blackmail! Shame on you! Nice try tho.....

Melanie & Feathers: WSQ show is in Spokane, in October at the Fair Grounds. It's a HUGE show, and worth the trip.

Jackie: It's that control freak thang! I wish I could quilt like YOU!!! Gotta love the Rene's Rays and Arcs!

Lass: Most of us in the guild also quilt for a living, yet we all share tips and techniques. Same with the online machine quilting groups. It's unfortunate that the others near you have taken that attitude. I'm one of three machine quilters in a town of less than 300 people. We share! There is enough work for all of us!

You posted this while I was working on the other answer.

It took so long because:

1. I marked my original ideas on the quilt top, using the Renae's Ray. No, what I marked is not what I ended up with.....So more marking as I went.

2. Ruler work. Lots and lots of Ruler work! And S&S - standing and staring. I'd do an idea, take it off the machine, S&S, decide to add more, and go back to quilt. Over and over again....

3. I buried the ends. I didn't want the starts and stops to show. After each day I would take it off the machine, take it home, and tie and bury ends.

4. There is maybe three days in this. For a quilt this small (34x34) that's a lot of time. That's like spending 24 days on a 100x100 quilt.

4. I know this is for a show (or several shows). No stress here....

Very nicely done, Shelley. I love your designs on this quilt. I epsecially like the curvy rays emanating from the center. And of course, the ruler work is tremendous.
