You have to very beautiful quilt tops. Neither would be appropriate for the backing, unless you are trying to make a reversible quilt. And even then I don't thing that's a good idea. I like sassy granny's suggestions.

I agree with you and the next post. Baby quilts should be bright colors...my own thought or ok pastels. But brights are my fav.

There is a theory that babies are more attracted to high contrast, so I say baby quilt. Plus that was your first inclination. Whatever you do they are both great quilts!

Haven't read all the posts yet, but I like them both and IMHO either one would be great for a baby quilt. I like for my quilts to be used longer than just when they're 'babies'.

they are both beautiful but would not use either for the back would make two quilts... they are beautiful you did a wonderful job..

The colors are perfect for babies. Babies see these best as newborns. The patterns are too wonderful for something that will be washed often. BUT, some babies deserve the hard work and love put in it. Make two wonderful quilts for your baby.
