There's a name......Adaptations.

It reminds me of Morse code's dots and dashes. You could call it that or maybe computer code since most youngsters might be more familiar with that. It didn't look like faces to me, you've just been working on it too long. It's a great top and he is sure to love it.

All I can say is IF YOUR SON DOESN'T WANT IT PLEASE SEND IT TO ME. The colors and pattern are fantastic together. Do you have the name of magazine or pattern. I finally saw the faces. ( like 2 eyes & a mouth under the eyes) Added to my favorites.

Thanks wildyard for the definition. That explains my fog to the "T"! I love Evan's quilt. It is bold, modern and striking!

I don't, I'm sorry. All I did was sketch it on a piece of paper and go from there. It wasn't my magazine so I just got the basic idea. I believe it started with 2.5" squares in the smaller blocks. So you would need for one block:
2 squares 2.5" for centers from fabric A; 4 squares- 2.5"; 4 rectangles- 2.5"x 6.5" from fabric B, for squares around centers; 1 rectangle 2.5" x 8.5" from fabric A, for center of large rectangle section of block; 2 rectangles 2.5"x 8.5" from fabric B for sides of large rectangle block; 2 rectangles 2.5"x 6.5" from fabric B, for ends of large rectangle.
In the original photo I saw, the colors were more neutrals and tonals, and the contrast was low. All 3 sections of the block were made from only the two fabrics, with all centers from fabric A and all the rest from fabric B.

Good luck with trying this! It's really simple. I much prefer the scrambled effect than the all one color, but I liked the original enough to save the sketch so it must have appealed to me also. LOL...

Maria C.... fibro fog is a problem those of us who have fibromyalgia have in which our thought processes get a bit muddled and "foggy". We think we are thinking clearly at times when in fact we can't even do basic math correctly. Or we might be thinking, "cut 3 inch strips" and then we immediately cut 4 inch strips, still thinking cut 3 inch. Or maybe we plan our pattern, and say ok, we need 2 inch strip plus add 1/2 inch seam allowance so cut 2.5" strips. Then we go and cut 2 inch strips anyway. Sometimes we are very aware that we are in a fog and not able to think clearly or make decisions. Then we know to stay away from our cutting boards and fabric. LOL But other times it sneaks up on me, and others too, I guess, and I don't realize till the damage is done.

Haha, I can relate to the fibro fog! It's so frustrating and others do not understand. It is similar to how people think when severely sleep deprived.

I think Face OFF is a great name and dark purple would be a great backing color.

That is beautiful. Every time I see a black and white quilt with one extra colour I think I'll have to do that but they look great no matter what the other colour is and I certainly can't have that many black and white quilts.

Evan is 13 this year. They grow up sooooooo fast. I've gone with Evan's Face Off on the label. It's all layered and pinned and I'll quilt and bind it tomorrow.
