I have something similar but with batting on the top for ironing. It is really handy!

Awesome! Your hubby is very ingenious :)
I'm going to be moving and getting a bigger craft room - I'm planning on sewing in an L shape as well.. I think it will be a lot easier as well. I'd love to have my machine set in like that - it would be sweet!

Is it easy to take in and out? I take my machine to sewing groups and workshops fairly often....

The sewing cabinets I had built to extend the original sewing cabinet table top. Not thinking about the quilt hanging over the top and my constantly having to pull it up onto the sewing area, which was very hard on my left arm, he came up with this solution - it works really well.

These are the pictures of the extension for the sewing area and also the support post for the drawer. It is very easy for me to put up and take down as well.

This made my sewing and quilting a nicer experience.

Thanks for looking.
Well how neat is that? Very nifty idea. Thanks for sharing.

Great job! Wish I had a DH that took interest in my obsession! I have to nag and nag to get him to finish anything I asked for-like my rectanglular ironboard (fits on top of my regular board)-it is still sitting in the corner after finally getting him to buy the plywood several months ago! I LOVE your quilt, as well. Can you post a pic of that and tell what pattern you used?
