I think it works very well. The floral prints pull the red and pink together, thus unifying the effect. The dark makes the whole quilt stunning. Well done and I admire the your unusual choice of colour combination, it has paid off with dividends. Just my personal opinion.

If the recipient is female, you will be OK. Can't see it as a man's quilt!! LOL! I love the contrast and the secondary patterns that catch the eye!
