Default It Grew In The Making!

This quilt began as an experiment in making hourglass/QST blocks. Then, I added four-patches. Then I added some more four-patches. Then I added a border. Then I added another border... Let's just say it grew improvisationally.

I like the way it turned out ( I love red in almost all its incarnations), but I wonder if the color combinations are too radical for the average bear? I was planning to give it as a gift, but I don't want to scare the recipient to death! I really would like your honest opinions here--if it is too radical, I'll keep it for myself and make another for my friend.

Red is absolutely my favourite colour. Your quilt is beautiful, now send it to me so you won't have to worry about scaring the most grateful new owner!

I am not particularly fond of pink, but I love your quilt. The fabrics work well together.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I did a sneaky thing. I posted the quilt on Facebook, and the friend I made it for (a surprise gift) said she loved it. What a relief! She will be really surprised to get it in the mail next week.
