A group OBW with the Floral Master Fabric
#561
I just love these blocks I have make a Stack and Whack, One Block Wonder and a Wackeroo Quilt. I am always amazed at how different each block is. The Stack and Whack I make had large blocks and then around it, it had four corner stack and whack blocks. It was a really neat pattern. On little block looked like dancing legs.

Hello Everyone, I had committed to doing this quilt with you all, got the fabric from GaiGai, and got the triangles cut while in France taking care of my Mother. Then when I got home I put it all away and have been working on other projects.
I just finished some quilted batik couch and chair covers, and promised myself to get the OBW out next.
So here I am, I have six halves sewn together. I got the book out, and noticed it says to always put the straight of grain on the outside of the hexagon. That eliminates the option to choose which placement looks best.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this carved in stone?
Thanks, and I am so happy to finally back get to this project.
Nicky

This material is fantastic!! Can't imagine a thread I'd rather follow than this one!
Nickylsf, I've made 4 OBW's and never worried about the grain.... just be careful when sewing that you don't stretch the fabric. Actually think the "give" is helpful!!

Thank you all for the feedback about the SOG. It will be much more fun to arrange my segments in the most pleasing manner. I was intrigued, though, to see what would develop if I just let Ka decide...
The half hexagons are going together faster than I thought they would! Since I posted last night, I have 8 done. I have a total of 90 cut out, and some more fabric.
Afterthought: the square root of 90 is 9.48, so if these are 6" blocks it should make about a 54" square quilt.
