We built a very primitive log home & I live very simple so a pine casket would be all I would need.
Of course my kids all think that I am crazy.
Just give me a pine box with a quilt & send me on my way.

You're not crazy at all! A few years ago, a resident of our home town reqested of a friend of his to make a pine box for his coffin (this gentleman had cancer) and wanted it lined with quilts. These requests were granted, as was his wish that his coffin be transported to the cemetary on an antique cart pulled by his two mules...yes, it was done the way he requested.

Jojo47, I never thought about how I am going to be transported. We live in the country & there is a lovely little church about 1/2 mile from our home with a lovely cemetary right next to it. I have alot of wagons & such ,plus I have donkeys. You have just given me a very good idea. I can be buried 1/2 mile from my home & my donkeys can transport me. How interesting!!!!
Don't know who will out live who, me or the donkeys!!Ha!!

For my niece who passed away after a tragic accident at the age of 18 months I made her a doll sized quilt to put over her. Then I made a lap sized quilt that matched it and gave it to her mother. I did not tell her or anyone else that I was making a big quilt for her to keep, but I do know that one person just thought it was terrible that we were going to bury the doll quilt with her. But I did not want it any other way. I had asked her mom before hand what I could do. If I could make her dress and she said someone else already was. She told me that I made such beautiful quilts that she would like me to make one for her little girl. It was one of the hardest yet most healing things I have done with my quilting.

That is so very nice and thoughtful of you ! I know the Mother loved her quilt and that she holding the same fabrics put together with the same hands that are now with her child. Very comforting to know your baby is warm, don't you think?? You are a wonderful person blessed with such talent to be shared.
