Have you seen one like this before?

We had one very similar when we got together in Germany to tie or hand quilt. It had been made for a German man for his wife.

Yes, I have one of my husband's grandmother's. It was given to her by her mom who got it given to her by her mom who brought it with her when she came by ship from England many years ago. I treasure it. She gave it to me after she had a stroke and couldn't quilt anymore. I was the only one out of her grandchildren who quilted. Mine has the orginal poles but we had to replace the pinning cloths because they were rotted. Seeing yours made the memories of her and I quilting together with her's. I haven't used them for awhile because I've had shoulder surgery.

That is very similar to the one my gram used to quilt her quilts.. but her cross boards were rounded from having so many quilts wrapped around them...

You have one STURDY, efficient quilt frame! The family history is so fun to have. You have been truly blessed. I am becoming more and more impressed with the ingenuity of those "old-fashioned, uneducated, common sense people" who were the role models for previous generations. Think it might be time we start paying more attention to what they did and how they did it. <wave>

I think it is wonderful, I use to use boards wrapped in levi's, then set on chair backs. This idea is terrific.
