That's certainly a wonderful family heirloom. Hopefully you'll be able to pass it on one day.

I'm hoping that one of my granddaughters will eventually learn to sew and quilt. I keep trying to interest them but I'm afraid to overdo it.

Thanks for all the lovely comments, everyone.

I have seen one like it. But not exact. The one I have seen has
rollers on the sides. With the 2 x 2 running from one end to the other. Mom wasn't happy with it cuz it would bow when you
had a large quilt on it.
This one looks like it may have a straighter edge. Would like to see
it with a larger quilt.
Looks very comfortable with the smaller boards.

I saw one used in an episode of the Waltons being played on Austar(satellite). It was bigger with women sitting all around the edges doing the finishing quilting on the quilt they had made. It was a lot bigger than yours but still similar in construction.

quote=fleurdelisquilts.com]My grandfather made this quilt frame for my grandmother years ago. He died in 1972, so it's at least 40 years old. I don't remember seeing my grandmother use it, but my mom used it quite a bit. I just thought since everyone is showing their vintage machines, you'd be interested in seeing my quilt frame.

I added the cross pieces because those have been lost. They are just 2 x 2 inch pieces of wood.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen one like this?[/quote]
