As for the zipper i find if you use a larger zipper and hang it off the end of the bag leaving it open while sewing the zipper in makes it much easier to top stitch after sewing the zipper in. be sure to close the zipper half way before trimming the bottom of the bag. I do use a whole zipper and sew it in regular rather than one piece. I am going to try her way at least once. I find my way easy to do. I got the pattern at a quilt show. You can find them at you LQS..

I also wanted to let you know I used prequilted fabric for this bag so i didn't have to even quilt it. I took the three layers apart of a scrap and it measured about 12 1/2 inches by 5. folded it in half and then thirds with the raw edge tucked inside. then stitched close to the edge on both sides of band. this way it matches perfectly. (strap) I used this instead of ribbon.

Good idea for a SP swap.

I loved your idea of prequilted fabric. I was at our Hospice clothing store today and found two vests, one jean and one pieced, that were quilted already and they looked like I could get one or two bags out of it. I also saw one vest that was quilted but in silk which was beautiful. I didn't have enough money with me today or I would have gotten that one as well. May go back tomorrow. I did find a couple of cotton shirts that I can use in my row robin. They are cheaper than the goodwill and have a large selection as well.

say you know thats a great idea to use old vest. I don't know if we have any other store than goodwill. Their shirts seemed kinda high to me. Plus there were not a good selection to choose from. I'll keep looking. Now i am on the hunt for zippers. Cheap..
