What a loving quilt this will be--sad, poignant, commemorative. I agree with this comment. Too often our memorials look as though there are no people of color in the armed forces. I know you'll make a lovely choice.

I have found some blenders that I think will work good. And I have the gold embrodiery thread for the uniforms. the quilting will define the uniforms and the shaded areas. If I don't get the effects I want, I've got a seam ripper. So, I can just keep trying til I get it right. Yall have all had some great ideas and input. I like the idea of the doll store. I think I'll check that one out.

Do not chuck it. Just think about it for a while and it will come to you. I paint and I do faces they are not that hard. practice on scrap for a while. use the medium you are comfortable with . I don't know how large you want to make it but ,I would like to suggest you make it a bet smaller then it might come together better. Keep up the good work, don't stop. Josie

Definitely blank. I actually think it adds to the poignancy of the message of the quilt. The focus will become the flag-draped coffin, not the "artwork" of the Marines' faces. As the mother of two active duty, your idea gives me chills and I hope whomever you are making the quilt for finds some peace in its comfort.

I love your idea. Can't wait to see it come to life on fabric. Keep sending photos as you go.

I was thinking leave them blank, too. then read this one and like the idea. The faces in the picture are fuzy, so it is ok. It will be wonderful, dont quit now.
