Oh that is cool.
I use my dining room table because it's where I quilt. In fact my machine and two quilts have been set up for over 2 months. We now eat in front of the tv and no one is complaining. Wish I had a BIGGER HOUSE. Lord hear my prayers.

That's nice! Is the ironing surface attached to the table? Is there any heat transfer through the board? I would be afraid that the heat would warp my cutting surface over time or is the cutting board removable? May I copy your idea?

Copy away! Yes, the candy bars are the ironing surface. The cutting mat is not attatched. The cutting area is 1/2" thick and I've had no problems with it. I put down heavy duty foil, cotton batting and cotton fabric.
Made sure to attach the ironing surface with four small hinges so the mat wouldn't slide through. I did put contact paper on the table top just so it would look nicer-an idea from sis Dingle. The rest is just painted 2 x 4's. I love it!
