Thanks everyone - lilacs are definitely a favourite of most people. I adore the perfume of the flowers. Lilacs are in everyone's gardens around here and there are whites, pinky lavender, mauve and deep purple, some of them with double petals.
When I saw this range of fabrics, I had to buy some! And I had it a long time before I cut into it.

I didnt use a pattern. I bought fabrics without a pattern in mind and by the time I went to cut it 2 years later, I had to figure out how best to use the fabrics I had, because I couldn't buy/find extra.
The blocks are 10" finished. The large lilac flower block has a 1" border of the pale green dots. The other block I got from "Around the Block", Judy Hopkins, and in the book the name is "Union", but I noticed that on Quilters Cache, Union block there is different.
I would have liked to have done the binding with the lilac dots (as 1st border), but didnt have enough.
I stitched in the ditch around the blocks before doing the fmq.
