Mine was the size of the largest dinner plate I could find (it was for a door ornament). You don't need a size or a pattern. This is your chance to just do! Look at the Missouri Star Quilt Store (or something similar) video. The instructions are simple and fun.

I love, love your potholders and was so inspired I went to JoAnn's and bought some gold metallic bias tape and another gold ribbon for the loop. I made two sets for friends I will see tomorrow at the River City Quilt Show. I hope to find some silver ribbon to create some more. Thanks so much for sharing, I am really having fun. Love this board.
I traced my dessert plate and added 1/4 inch seam allowance on cardboard. The cardboard circle measured 9 inches, so finished size was about 8 1/2 inches. The silver top finished size was 2and 1/2 inches. The silver seam binding works well but I found some 7/8 silver ribbon at Walmart that I want to try. It had 1/4 inch matching silver ribbon that I think will work well for the hanging loop.
