nice job on the quilt.
I had nothing but a singer featherweight for 20 some years. It went forward and backward and that was it. No zig zag no nothing. I loved it and it served me well. When others ask what do you want it to do I couldn't answer because i didn't know what I was missing. About 2 years ago my husband bought me a bernina 440 ( on ebay for half the price). I keep saying I will still use my featherweight but I haven't yet. I would try and stop at shops and try all brands of machines. Don't pay for things you don't use but how will you know if you will use them if you don't try them.
Keep on quiltin.

Wow! You did that all in one day? Just think how many you can do with a machine.

All by hand? wow, that is wonderful.

Hmmm, the kind of machine will depend on what you want to spend and how you plan on using the machine.

I have a 39 yr old Kenmore that is a great workhorse and works wonderfully to this day but I did upgrade to a Janome6500 4 years ago so that I could have the new bells and whistles of auto needle threader, thread cutter etc.

If price is a concern, get a used machine off craigslist or from a yardsale or get the modest priced Janome etc.

If you can afford more, go higher. You'll get lots of varied opinions here ...we all LOVE our machines, no matter the brand.

Great job! I have a Singer, a Pfaff and an old Singer Futura 900. They all do a good job, so shop for one that has the features you like.
